** Citron seeds: chillichumpseeds.com/product/citron/ ** I have been telling myself for the last couple of months that this was a capsicum baccatum, like the Aji Lemon Drop....it isn't! 🤦Hope you enjoy the video. Any time! 😂
It didn't look threatening at first. I've had several similar moments like that, my reaction was a little more animated. The peppers have a nice color. I like how you keep it real. The best to you and yours.
Haha sounds like a great time!
Ahhh those moments of life that are filled with such delightful surprises Shaun! Very nice looking and appearing plant, nicely productive in a container environment! Looking forward to some end of the season seasonings and sauces that you may be considering or developing. Stay Spicy! -Bob...
Hi Shaun, Joe here. I had to laugh at this video as I absolutely concur. My Fataliseeds Aji Citron had a few stunted growth issues and 2 weeks ago I picked one of very few pods from my "stunted" plant in the polytunnel. It was no bigger than my pinky finger nail and I munched the whole pod whilst in the polytunnel. Well, as you have said I thought it was tame, WRONG, I had to spit it out immediately and make my way into the kitchen only about 10m to the fridge to try to neutralise the effect with milk, tomato and with wine vinegar before I could regain my sight clearly once my eyes stopped watering. My pods are a third the size of yours in the video. OMG LOL

Saludos! Thats great to hear, I am glad you find my content entertaining/useful!
I love it when a chile is hotter than expected, it is always like Christmas morning! Great review and a better reaction!!! ❤
I love a chilli tasting - the surprise is always so entertaining! I have grown four plants of this variety, partly because Fatalii said they were “very, very compact” plants - but mine are anything but. They have grown much bigger than I anticipated, extremely bushy, and are sooooooo prolific. Thus the “not enjoyable” is uhoh! 😀
Very funny, made me laugh 😀 Been growing these for a few years and they are very prolific. And spicy too, as you found out 😆
Had a blast watching this as I knew well what this chili was. And yes, it makes great tasting flakes/powder!
Lol, that’s awesome mate 😂 what a nice surprise, sounds like a tasty weapon! Some fermentation and fruit to chill that flame! Nothing quite like being genuinely shocked, great little cut in for explanation at the beginning too, made my day 👍🏻

Thats why I didn't bin the recording and do it over...worth it if even a couple folks found it funny/entertaining! 😄
that was funny! you cheered me up. fair play you took it really well. oh and thanks for all your advise. i made your soil mix this year and had my first proper go at growing chillis and iv never grown chillis like this before. i grew birdeye, the indian curry chilli from B&Q and two red scotch bonnet. fist two are covered but the scotch bonnets are slow but perfect. i grew them all on the patio. not in a green house. thanks again bigman 👍
Chuckled as you struggled to contain how hot the chilli was, trying your absolute best to hold it together until the hiccups came and ruined your bluff 😂
Lol!!! Funny to be caught off guard.

It certainly is easier when you are expecting it!
I grew them 2 years ago. Needless to say I have a bunch of them frozen. Great fruity taste.
❤ I did the same exact thing when growing them, the website designated them, and labeled them as a Baccatum! I was shocked, but looking back, I never looked at the flowers. 😂 Cito is a Baccatum, and space saving alternative to Aji Limon!
I really appreciate it when you review chillies, sauces etc. So few people think to describe textures, flavours, heat etc. They tend to use superlatives rather than relatable descriptions. You were clearly unprepared for this one though! Thank you for sharing with us :) PS: when you release your next book, could you please include a growers guide section, I'd like to encourage some family members to grow more chillies :) Stay spicy :)
This was thoroughly entertaining. Thanks for the video
Yeah, that one is sooo much hotter than I thought it would be 🔥🥵 A great addition to the 2023 seed kit, but damn😀 Have a nice weekend, and keep up the very good
I can see why you likened it to a Lemon Drop. Virtually identical. Curious, have you grown a Black Habanero? Been my favorite the past 2 seasons. Makes a really nice savory sauce.

@@ChilliChump give it a consideration. The plants get huge and produce a respectable amount of pods. My plants this year are 6-7 feet tall in 7 gal pots. I can only imagine what they would be like in your more controlled growing environment. Mine are outside in Florida, it's pretty harsh.
Cool video as usual, because of you I had my first chillis fully grown in Paris, France on my balcony (Cayenne, Güero and Habanero). Got one Cayenne fermented sauce already (that's veeery good and veeeery spicy), and another Cayenne/Güero vinegar sauce done tomorrow. Thank you, and keep up the good work !

Your face went from a peachy color to bright pink in no time flat after eating that chili!
Thanks for the entertaining video at your expense shaun!
At least it looks amazing :) I'm still think about what to plant in the garden.
You made me laughing 😂. I had my first Reaper(1/2) yesterday and I got hick ups like you… today my first scotch bonnet (1/2) without hickin’ luckily. Both own harvest. Thanks for your channel very inspiring. Following quite a while and even made my first Hot Sauce inspired by you. Fermented Habanero Mango Banana…yummy
I grew these with a Mulato in the same bucket I don't know how but the Mulatos grew very hot also 😂
Funny how this happened to you, cause this happened to me the first time i got these yellow chilies too... Whahahahaha These are realy hot MoFo's unlike the lemon-drops...
Was about to use some of these tomorrow in a dish, I guess should be a bit more careful about them then, one of the few plants that survived my horrible rainy summer, was to moist so almost all plants got affected by brown mold, we had almost 400% normal rain over July and yeah my peppers didnt like it very much, well this and golden nugget did good thought and very productive.
@ChilliChump
10 ай бұрын
The golden nugget is another beautiful plant for sure. man....400%? I though we had it bad!
I grew some of them along side some Lemonella, they are such an innocent looking little chilli, my reaction was very similar too yours, they’re unbelievably bloody hot.
Sounds like it would be good mixed with scotch bonnets, or like you said, in a dry spice blend, like a dry rub, or in jerked meats.
I see you had a surprise. Hiccups is my usual reaction even to Cayenne.
@Mp57navy

🙃 Cayenne is just angry bell pepper. Great no matter how much you put in your food, it just adds a little tingle and great paprika taste.
Mine are popping too! Haven't havested any yet. Ill be careful! Lol

They pack a small punch for sure mate! 🔥
This looks like Limón - aka Hot Lemon. It is often mistaken for Lemon drop aka Aji lemon/Aji Limon. It is in fact a chinense and my personal favorite. The plants are gorgeous and very compact - quite opposite from Lemon drop. It is also VERY productive, and a beautiful plant. It is very similar to Aji mochero, possibly the same. And yes the heat is very upfront.
Epic!
Sorry, but the hiccups was adorable. Lol like a little kid. Serious question but is the difference between kinds of heat due to the type of capsaicin that is predominant in the chilli?
@ChilliChump
10 ай бұрын
There are different levels of various types of capsaicin in different chillies. It really affects the way a pod burns... And also how much it burns! I discussed this in-depth with Troy Primo on the interview I did with him. Also talked a bit about it with Johnny Scoville on one of my recent livestreams. Check those videos or when you have a moment!
Is this the same plant as the "Limon"? I have one in my green house and it totally looks the same. I know it's a chinense 😂 my favourite plant this year. Great Video 👌
Ouch!! 😅
Lol I think it made your head swell 😅 that it made hat to tight and caused a headache. A while back you challenged others to grow tall chilli trees in the ground. I did . I would like to send you a photo, but I don't know how

😄 it's more about being an unexpected heat. But no mistake...it's a spicy one! Lol
I watched the video twice in a row, too hilarious! Are your seeds isolated or open pollinated?
@dean-Conjured-Vaporz
10 ай бұрын
Open pollinated means it grows true, in essence a non- hybrid.... the chili community uses the term very incorrectly.
If there are no yellow/green spots on the flower petals then it ain't a Baccatum 😂
Is it only salt than reduce the heat when you are feeling real heat ?
What do the flowers on this plant look like? Capsicum baccatum flowers are usually striped and larger than chinense varieties. Interesting sounding chili. I hate it when my ears burn!
Lmfao. Sorry to laugh😂
So youre saying Theyre good for circulation ✌🏻🇺🇸👍🏻🙏🏻😂
Chillichump, when are your 7pot primo available at your online store?

Hi Chilli Dude. I just purchased the Moz Piri Piri from you and wanted to know how hot they are compared to regular cayanne? Thanks. Stay Spicy man.
@ChilliChump
10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your order and support! They are hotter than typical cayenne. But cayenne can vary quite a bit in heat level, so the Moz Piri Piri can be 30% hotter...up to twice as hot.
My grandmother grew peppers from Suriname! It's like a scotch bonnet, but it's way hotter! She forgot to remove it from a curried chicken dish! I bite into it, and it burned and burned! Most uncomfortable 20 minutes of my life! It also started my love of hot peppers!😂😂😂😂😂
Do you ship to Canada?

Hi Chump. Please may you help. I am growing various varieties in my Polycarb GHouse. I have just tested a few varieties, with the one I am really exicted about being the Scotch. Red, nice and shiny but not massive heat. Have i picked too early? How do I increase heat? I have really tried streesing through less watering etc, match sticks etc. Any tips? I beg you! Thanks!
@ChilliChump
10 ай бұрын
The most important thing is to firstly make sure you have good quality seeds, that grow true. To increase the heat, you can try stressing them like I show in many of my videos. Things like only watering when you see drooping. But more important is to pick at the right time. For most superhots I like to pick about 10 days after they have fully changed colour.

🤣😂😅😰😰 proost sorry
250k scoville average? You must have gotten unlucky on the pod and there is a big deviation. A normal habanero is a tad hotter than that. While not pleasant to eat raw it's nowhere near as bad. For hiccups and actual unpleasantness to settle in and experienced chili head needs 500k+ scoville IMO.
@ChilliChump
10 ай бұрын
When you are expecting around 50k Scoville, it can be a little different to get a lot more. I don't get hiccups when eating superhots. But I'm expecting the heat and the pain
😂😂😂😂
