Citroen C3: Citroen's stylish supermini

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Citroen is a brand that, for many years, has traded on style and value, so you could say that the C3 supermini is an utterly predictable car. Its cutesy design definitely makes it stand out visually when compared to most of its conservatively styled rivals, while choosing the Citroen over one of those same rivals will, in most cases, save you several thousand pounds in list prices. So, given this predictability, can the C3 spring any surprises elsewhere?
Let CarGurus help you find your next car:
www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/artic...
In this CarGurus UK video review, Rebecca Jackson test the pick of the range, the Puretech petrol version. This 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine delivers surprisingly lively performance along with very reasonable fuel economy of around 55mpg. However, does the rest of the driving experience - not to mention the car's quality, technology and practicality - have the talent to match?

Assuming you've had your car since it was new, any half decent car worth its salt should not go wrong in its first year of use, and in fact longer than that. So while I'm happy for you (and long may your car remain faultless), that's not really saying much.

We have had our C3 110 hp high spec car since 2017 and it has been faultless. Although ours is a 5 speed it is a great motorway cruiser. The ride is comfortable and touring around France we get about 51 mpg fully loaded. The seats are fantastic - no aches after 400 miles in a day. The criticism of the lack of side support is a red herring as this is not a car to hustle along twisty roads . The seats are deliberately flat and soft for long motorway stints. The criticisms of storage space, handling and tight back seat are all valid. The performance is strong compared to most small petrol cars, with plenty to spare at 80 mph on French autoroutes.

Yeah we've got a similar age of car and spec that we've had from new. Only things I would add are... possibly get the timing belt done early as it's significantly cheaper than dealing with picking bits of it out of the oil ways or a snapped one. Oh and our particular one needed an inlet valve clean as it started to misfire. Other than that which I'd file under maintenance, lovely car to cruise about in and a good slug of power for overtaking and hills compared to most similarly priced rivals.

@@christga100 ours has only ever been to Citroën but about 200-300 quid for a major or minor. Obviously take it elsewhere it would be cheaper but due to it having a wet belt the correct grade of oil is important. Timing belt replacement at 5 years was 500 quid at a main agent, CV boot was 90 quid fitted at the same. Other than that not really paid for anything beyond service. You could absolutely look after it cheaper and or do it yourself engine bay access is decent filters are accessible as are spark plugs and there's nothing under it that's not been around for years.

Just make sure the timing belt gets changed every 20k miles. These engines use a wet belt which can be an issue. They can start to disintegrate and clogg oil passageways, killing the engine.

Sacre Bleu... Another car reviewer who's disappointed that the cheap and cheerful french runaround doesn't look like or drive like a BMW 3 series. 😂 Citroen ranked higher than Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and VW on the Driver Power 2022, which - funnily enough - never gets mentioned and it will be way cheaper to insure and fill up and probably repair. Sure it might not corner like an F1 car but then not everyone will drive it like a retired racing driver.

I won an MG3 & partner a Peugeot 3008. Looking at going to 1 car. My MG3 has manual knobs for heating which are intuitive to use especially when you're driving. I think driver controls should still be knobs or switches & same for electric rather than going through menu's on a screen which is not exactly safe or intuitive to use. Nice motor-much better than the kia stonic. Looks nice car & good size. Good size boot I think. Slight hesitancy off idle from stand still but otherwise very good.

I have a Toyota Yaris 2014, they gave me this Citroen C3 2023 model when my car has an alternator issue. Though I appreciate the efforts I can't say there is much improvement in Citroen when compared to my 10 year old Yaris. Citroen struggles where Yaris was perfect in second gear. Yaris in 3rd gear could handle most of the roundabouts and I can speed up in the same gear, but when it come to C3 I don't get that confidence with 3rd gear. I understand Yaris is 1.3L VVIT and C3 is 1.2L however I expected better performance for new car. I like the comfort, better turning radius and techs in C3.

The cup holders are located in the worst possible place (you are absolutely right)) and they are small in diameter (can hardly fit a soda can). The cruise control is behind the steering wheel. I am sorry but most of French cars are crap. Especially when it comes to ergonomics. The seats are soft but small. I am 6’1 though. The suspension is so bad that I am sure I’d better time going down a hill on a sofa from IKEA. So, I warn you. Avoid this car. Avoid any French car. Those cars are designed by alien species.
