Citroen Ami: The Adorable Non-Car For Kids
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Citroen Ami may look like a car but it's not, it's a quadricycle and with just 8 horsepower no driving licence required. Great news for 15 year old Gersende as you can drive the Ami from just 14. School journeys were difficult before the Ami as she lives in a remote part of France 12km from school, Citroen has given her and her friends some independence.
With a price point of 6.900 Euros, the Citroen Ami is an affordable mobility option not just for teenagers but for city commuters as well. Whether this alternative to car ownership catches on across Europe and beyond is yet to be seen but for Gersende it's been liberating.

This car is a great concept and a convenient quadricycle. Good to see an intelligent young girl going to school. This will give her more practical driving lessons and theory before she is old enough to get a license.
Is so nice to see the cheaper side of EVs start to come to the market, even if it's just a quadricycle it begins to show that cheaper EVs gonna become an option in the future.
Pre-orders started in the UK last week too!

@@zm321 I did pre-order one myself, but ended up cancelling just before launch, mainly because of that top speed and for the price I could but a used new model electric smart car for a few grand more.
Just reserved one in the UK. Excited! I have a powerful diesel car but will use the Ami for short journeys and in town.

I’ve reserved one too! I’ll be interested in any mods that can be done, bigger battery to increase range perhaps, or ability to tweak top speed (although may be illegal to do this?). If you look around there are vids to upgrade certain cosmetic things as well as 3d printable parts. A funky body wrap would be cool as well. I’m looking forward to more details as we near the uk release time. I drive a very powerful car and have a 60 mile round trip commute to work, but this little AMI would be just the thing to drive around town where traffic speeds seldom now get to 30mph. Can’t wait to see more information.

The spiritual successor to the much beloved 2cv/tpv. Cheap, reliable and fun transportation for the masses! That’s the Ami.

The 2CV is a true car. The Ami is a step below that but in the same tradition.
I really love this concept and Citroen should bring this car in the Indian market as well! And this car will sell like hot cakes for especially those children who have interest in cars like me!

I'd love one. Unfortunately they aren't street legal in Canada, which means they're illegal to import even if used only on private property. Maybe one day our government will wake up to the idea of small, electric, commuter vehicles.
@RoRototo493

One day. Eventually after everyone else has adopted it. Ministry of Transportation will still probably put restrictions on it. The 60kmph local limit is a factor too. It would be fine as a runabout where the limit is 40-50. We are too slow to adopt things like this.

Maybe Canada should start becoming more like Europe and less like the US...
This is a vehicle that Apple should have initiated...lots of young prospects ahead for this mode and emerging ideas.
Reminds me of the - "More Smile per Mile" of motoring in my 2 new 2CVs which I brought back to Australian - 1978 Club & 1982 & 1990 Charlestons. Makes friends where ever you go... a true AMI - even found lipstick marks on the windscreen where some one had kissed my 2CV.... It was lime green lipstick.... Peut etre une drag queen?? Such fun.
Well that’s a lovely story well done to her at 15 being so mobile
Most of the world need that car. It's sad Citroen is not selling it in more markets.

Wait so I can drive this in the UK being 14 ????? I WANT ONE NOW
3:30 I can't 🤣
0:55 not true, at least in germany, you need a AM license to drive mopeds and other vehicles up to 45km/h.
It's faster than most of the tractors so I don't think drivers should bi bothered by it, at least no more than they're bothered by tractors.
would it be in the us?
Finally kids can drive cars
What do they mean when they say you don’t need a license? You need no license at all? Cause here in Germany you do need a license to drive this vehicle.
Why do I even need my drivers licence? 🤔. If I ever needed a car I’ll get this , I can do pizza deliveries in it ….
Exelente 👏👏👏
Everyone keeps making the same mistake she has a part one scooter license not a full licence but if you were born before 1988 you don't need a license but it's not a car see french you tuber AMI STYLE and read the comments
It would be a big success in Europe, everywhere its price is not a big deal, the climate is not too harsh and the distances are not big in between villages/cities. Eastern-Europe is out of the question. Most of the people there have less money for buying a family car.

Most people buy second hand cars, particularly when they are poor. This will definitely apply to the villages/cities in Eastern-Europe.
It is a cool car.
8hp? So I can ride a Honda Grom (MSX 125) without a motorcycle license in EU countries?
This is basically a golf buggy but full sheltered and looks much better.

Well, quadricycle has a nice ring to it, though.
Available in india ..
since public transport discriminates healthy people we need to buy more cars again (used petrol cars of course)
I was thinking of buying a Ami a few months ago but then the price in France was 6000 Euros, however I live in German and Citroen didn't sell it in Germany they rebadged it As an Opel but the Opel cost 8000 Euros. So because I live in Germany I would have been charged an extra 2000 Euro, I'm definitely not going to do that. There are other Electric Quadracycles, there is a Dutch thing that will be 6000 Euros even if you live in Germany.
