Had a C3 Aircross for almost two weeks as a loan car whilst awaiting repairs on our main driver. It’s an ideal car for families, small outside, roomy inside, frugal, comfy, large boot, stylish, easy to drive. I was so impressed I bought one, did I mention they are reasonably priced too!

Was it noisy?

I love this presenter. She has a relaxed yet informative style and bases her reviews on what most people want, rather than the Top Gear mantra of 'all cars need to handle like a Zonda' nonsense.

Citroën is crazy. Love all cars they make and looking forward new C6

The air con is not buried in a sub menu. It’s one option on the main screen and the use of it could not be easier. You can also access it from anywhere by pressing the A/C button at the top (along with a couple of the other shortcuts) - it really couldn’t be more simple. If you don’t think the Citroen/Peugeot infotainment screen is intuitive try a BWM or a Mercedes or even a Ford. The new Fiesta menu and options are far more complicated than this.

I’ve just realised - this is the exact same C3 Aircross that featured on The Grand Tour!

So having watched this and a number of other reviews I have had a chance to test both the manual 110 petrol and auto. Both are good to drive and I couldn't understand what she means about the clutch biting high, in fact it was light and comfortable to use. The gearbox wasn't a short shifter from a Porche but was smooth and I knew what gear I was in at all times. The auto was very pleasant to use and changes were barely noticeable. Having seen the various complaints about the lack of climate control buttons, I was pleasantly surprised to find a button that brings up the zircon screen directly from whatever menu level you are in. This means that the zircon is never more than one press away. My only concern with that is software bugs , as I have in another car, that black the controls out. All in all this is what it is a very spacious pleasant and comfortable car to drive and use. One or two fit and finish issues, e.g. one of the cars overhead switch cluster didn't clip in place properly and had visible gaps to the headlining, but otherwise quite well put together. We will go ahead and order ours this week and thanks to all the objective reviews even if I don't always find the same problems they are a great help in preparing for the test drive.

Once you get used to any car you don't search for any controls. I have a an Aircross on loan, it took me less the half a minute to find the heater controls. I didn't find any issues with any documented problems. I would willingly buy one. Nice car to me.

Th presenter outfit is colour coordinated with the funky interiors of the C3 Aircorss, Nice!

Road tested the flair 130. Immediately traded in the 2015 fiesta. If your in the market for a change just give it a try. Oh ! and as for the air con, from the overview screen select air con, then press up or down on the large arrows. How is that so hard? Never owned a Citroen before but now suspicious that motoring press get , let’s say a ‘free ‘ dinner to push certain vehicles.

She is very accurate when it comes to real car reviews.

I have one of these & love it! Had 2003 & 2010 HDI Xsara Picasso as previous cars with trouble free motoring so stayed with Citroën. My wife & daughter each struggled with clutch but am bewildered by this. I have no issues whatsoever town or other driving, recent trip to Fife averaged 59mpg on 1.2 puretech. Xlnt wee car...

Comfortable is just enough!? What!? Comfortable IS the thing for many of us and "fun to drive" is hideous because you are bouncing all over the place and feel every little unperfection there is in the road. To all the other manufacturers: Give us comfortable, and therefore luxurious, cars for less amount of money like Citroen because of all the bad roads we have! We have Forza and Gran Turismo when we want to race! PS. You get used to any clutch so that is nothing to blame, didn't have any problems on my testdrive.

I too prefer a comfortable ride than a wannabe "sporty" car to drive that it will never be because actual sports cars are on a different level money-wise. I like that Citroen does comfort primarily, but there was a time they did blend the best of both worlds with sharp handling and great comfort, but if we cant have it all, so be comfort over everything else

I totally agree! I've got a 2012 Citroen c3 1.4 VTR+ and it's amazing! The drive I can only describe it like being in a spaceship, it's so comfortable. That and the zenith windscreen helps that as well! I see other young drivers my age they all want sporty cars the like a fiesta, Seat Ibiza, Corsa or some kind of Audi. But I'm more for the comfort rather than sportiness. I find carbuyer/carwow reviews always slate cars for stupid things like that. If I wanted a sports car I would get one! If it was a GT line car then you can complain about it! But this car is for comfort not sportiness.

Yep agree, where can you drive like a mad man these days, it's all about the ordinary drive on our crap roads. Why do motoring journalists obcess about sporty drives?

Very formulaic review, getting a bit tired of this format, it’s not real world enough and their clearly testing on a transport development road (maybe the one in Woking!) I test drove and ordered one of these today for my other half! It was very comfy, aircon easy to use, easy to drive, light clutch and the steering was fine. I agree that the soft ride doesn’t make it one you want to push on with but really this is a family car and it nails that brief!

If your worried about towing i recommend you watch the grand tour with this exact car in it. Jeremy Clarkson pulls a container ship with it. The 1.2 is a great engine.

Been driving this while my Cactus is in the garage, it’s very funky, it does absorb the potholes very well, feels solid and the turbo petrol is quite nippy. But yes, the gearbox, is notchy, and it rolls in the corners a bit. The driving position is great, good view in the mirror through the back window. While I really love the quirky designs on offer from Citroen, reliability has been an issue with my Cactus, and as Duncan Ballantine might say “ I’ll tell ye where I am, I’m oot,” My kids love the Cactus, and the funkiness of the Citroens, but until they meld some Germanic reliability to that French flair, they will, very much like the French football side, blow hot and cold. I’ll be sad when the Cactus goes, but I’m not waiting for the C5 Aircross, instead a Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Seat Ateca, Skoda Karoq or even the Peugeot 3008 will be my next car.

German cars haven't been reliable for quite some time. The only reliable automakers currently in the market are all Japanese, and not even all of them. Mostly, Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura (and perhaps Mitsubishi, except for its egg-shaped car).

@Gibbon, Japanese cars were already more reliable and less prone to rust back in the early 1990s according to all mechanical reliability analyses and consumers' satisfaction reviews (even those made and published by German consumer organisations).

Jonny Jones yes that's right, this Citroen C3 Aircross is based on the Peugeot 2008, as is the Opel (Vauxhall) Crossland X.

What good is a review without a price guide....#disapointed

Mine was in dealers for five weeks, rewiring the airbag sensor , so was not a happy bunny, most annoying thing is that bloody lane departure bleeper, you can shut it off but you have to do it every time you take off.

They simply forgot to add the built in camera. Must have been two teams working separately and camera was last minute addition on C3 while the air rods team Just forgot

I could be wrong about this but it could have something to do with the fact that the C3 Aircross is manufactured in Zaragoza, Spain but the C3 is built in Trnava plant in west Slovakia. However this is no excuse not to include built in camera for the C3 Aircross.

There is a place for one in the trunk yes. Mine didn't come with one though.

Well done Citroen for sticking with your philosophy of putting essential/often used controls on sub menus on a screen you can't see if the sun shines on it. Why deliberately design in features that distract the driver from their primary task of driving the car and keeping their bloody eyes on the road. A criminal design error. If you think I'm wrong, search google for deaths (yes DEATHS!) caused by distracting car technology. Please can we have a return of common sense? Sort this out and I'll buy one.

I owned C3 for a year, before my son drove it to scrap metal. Now I just got an "c-line" version of C3 aircross and drove it for 400 km on a highway. Impressions so far: 1) It has enough space. I was used to Berlingo and C3 felt somewhat crumpled, but aircross model is roomy enough. 2) 6 gear box is indeed strange. I'll get used to it, but it will take a while. 3) Ventilator is far too loud. Ventilation standard C3 is much less noisy. 4) It drives fine on a highway. Standard C3 feels a tad smoother, but well - it's far lower car. 5) It's comfortable. I don't know if reviewers are paid to repeat this as a mantra, but Citroen cars really are comfortable. 6) Fuel use was 6.5l/100 km according to car display. On a rather hilly road, where I was driving 130km/h most of the time. 7) I like the big screen in the middle. I used it to show Google maps and listened to Spotify while driving. It worked fine. So, is it a good upgrade over C3? Depends on two questions: - do you need more space? - do you like upright driving position? I really don't like to sit low in a car, and I tend to carry more than I should in a car. Therefore aircross suits me better. Apart from that, normal C3 is actually nicer to drive in my opinion. And cheaper. And cuter looking too. And it's quite comfortable for two persons. If you need to drive four people around... Aircross is *way* better choice.

I have to say it looks to chunky and bold ,it looks like something my grandma would drive!! Sorry Citroen but you need to make it more like the c4 cactus cause that looks way better

Oh no, scratchy plastics, stay clear people, don't want you basing your next car purchase on such ludicrous aesthetics, I mean, we all do it don't we? Don't we! No we don't. It's totally irrelevant. Who cares. Want luxury leather? Buy a luxury car then. Bring back vinyl from the 70's, why not? These reviews, one person in a car? Real world I think not. About time someone actually reviewed a car used under realistic conditions, you know, actual people as passengers, going on an actual journey with actual luggage or how does it fair down the supermarket, or worse still in a multistorey car park with insanely narrow car spaces. These reviews are formulaic and unreal, driving along the same traffic free country roads. These reviews are also someone's own opinion, do yourself a favour, get down to a showroom, and try a car out for yourself, you're under no obligation, and I bet, you don't lean over the dashboard and say, "Scratchy plastic! Ugh, no thanks".

I just bought an aircross with a 6 speed gearbox. Has anyone noticed that the placement has a distance of about 2 cm? for example, when you put the 4th speed is the position where you have no speed in an other car.

I must admit I agree the old Picaso was a great practical vehicle, but this is one of the better SUV designs as it is still big on the inside unlike so many others @@keithpayne4143

Sherukka sometimes the temperature rise because of the sun. You drive the car diffrent time of the day. If the car is standing outside in the sun and you want to cool down the cabin fast. I can think of more situations ☺

It’s not actually in a submenu. You press the fan icon, change the temp. It takes 2 clicks.

Actually if you have automatic climate control, like most cars, except the basic versions, then you don't have to do that, once you set a temperature, you can leave it like that summer-winter-sun-shade.

It is not. Press the icon on the screen side and you are in. With automatic you do not have to do it at all, once you set up your preferences.

Appealing handling and gearshift, bad infotainment system, poor rear head and legroom, omittance of dash cam and sketchy cabin materials yet it is still the favorite small SUV? Competiton must be like Fred Flintstone's car then to be worse than that!

Nothing to like about it, really! I'd go for that Toyota crossover or Juke for people who want smth different.

DONT BUY. Year old two recalls still at dealers after four days, airbag wiring fault, should have kept my cactus but was a bit short in leg room . The C3 Picasso was a better car that this thing replaced, glove box only holds the books.

Honestly, go and buy a Toyota, you won't have any problems. Either this or a Honda, the jazz I recommend
