Citizen Dive Watch Review: Aqualand Stainless Steel Diver, Cal. B741

Ғылым және технология

Here is my review of the highlights and quirks of this classic looking dive watch from Citizen. Despite it's classic look, it has some modern features such as a depth meter and a stopwatch.
Disclaimer: I've tried to be as accurate as possible. If any of the information in this video is critical to you, please verify it by reading the manual or contacting Citizen.
This watch is caliber number B741.

    I bought one of those back in 1994 or so. It was very handy for diving since it was on your wrist. It was my first Citizen watch and it worked for well over 20 years before it died. At this point it is the only brand of watch I'll buy. My second Citizen is still working perfectly after 14 years and I just bought another one because I wanted something new. They are worth every penny.

    Thanks man. I left the watch exposed to the sunlight for 7 days, and suddenly the seconds dial start moving! one move every 4-5 sec. I was really relief, from there to full charge it another 3 days were need. A day or two after full charge I took it to a dive (max deep 23m, ~75ft, dive time 50 min) and not a single problem. I'm totally impressed with this watch and with citizen of course!

    @sunstopper The manual says that orange rectangle is called the "Over zone mark." If the diving depth exceeds 50m (125 ft.), or if the depth meter isn't functioning properly for some reason, the orange hand will point at the over zone mark.

    I've had my Eco-Dive for about three years. It's been to 120 ft diving on the Thunderbolt off Marithon. Its also been down near 75'-90' off Volusia and Brevard counties about 100 times. Great watch although like you said, the second hand doesn't count off the seconds, bummer. I've had one guy say it must be broken.

    @MuvoTX Thanks! Try unscrewing the crown, pulling it out two stops, then pressing both buttons simultaneously. That should reset the watch. Then you can use the buttons individually to adjust the hands. But do you know that the minute chrono hand won't normally be on zero? If you hold the lower button in for about 3 seconds the watch will switch to stopwatch mode and hand will zero. Otherwise it's always in "dive ready" mode (the hand in the orange "DV" zone.

    The first watch I bought from my first paycheck..still with me now after 20 years..I don’t have the original strap as it was slash when I do snorkeling..lucky I get the watch.. Now the crown was busted, the solar power is kind of winding down as it cannot get to LV.2 even after 1 hours in direct sunlight..I hope they still can fix this type of watch.

    Hi Putera, that's great that you bought it with your first paycheck and still have the watch. I just sent mine in to Citizen to have the crown replaced, which was about $50 if I remember correctly. The power issue might have to do with batteries. I think they can replace those too. If you email your nearest Citizen service center, they should be able to help you. If you're in the US, they're located in Torrance, California. Good luck! Nik

    That's a good point. The battery does wear out after a while. How long did yours last?

  • @nikudes
    @nikudes12 жыл бұрын

    @COSDR That sounds normal to me. It uses energy every day to run so the power level will drop. Level 1 doesn't mean it's low on power, just that it's not 100% full. My manual says full charging time 20cm (8 in.) from a 30W light is 18 hours. Did you charge it that long? I usually lay mine under a window to charge it. Then the time for a full charge is from 5 hours (cloudy day) to 2.5 hours (sunny summer day).

Please explain me. Thanks again man!!

    @sunstopper I think what the manual is saying is that, if you go deeper than 50m, the orange hand will point at the Over-zone mark. Or if there's something wrong with the the watch it will do the same. So if the watch is pointing at the Over-zone mark in less than 50m of water, send it to a service center. Otherwise it should work fine again once it's in less than 50m of water.
