The preference would be to locate all of the heavy industry within the pinavia interchange to sequester the polluting parts of a city. You could also locate a central roundabout within it and zone the available land for civic use.

If your city is big and the budget is still tight, look at the economy tab and see what is eating up that money, now, if your city is small,build more residential, industrial and commercial areas of low or high density and increase taxes, if it is a traffic problem that is causing a traffic jam that makes entry difficult of raw material, use intersections or larger streets, remember the hierarchy of roads, highway, large street, medium streets and small streets

Pinavia is actually so goated I’ve been experimenting with a bunch of intersections and the pinavia is the most effective for high traffic areas even though it looks nightmarish

Pinavia is something you see in china miss your exit you have another 360 to go

Pinavia is definitely the coolest. Imagine the difficulty of it on an icy day! I like turbine the best.

love the pinavia, honestly this short makes me want to go back to CS1 even more. However I couldn't help but notice the lack of proper lane mathematics on several of the other intersections that was causing their traffic.

What about contraflow right? Also the pinavia thing whatever looks like one of the highways in engitopia by real civil engineer but more organised

Yeah, contraflow right does not exist in right hand driving, and Pinavia is the definition spaghetti interchange

Anything beyond the cloverleafs I don’t have a single brain cell that knows how to navigate that, I only just figured out how to do the cloverleaf by searching it up on here

Cloverleafs suck ass they are literal traffic machines. All the old cloverleafs in real life have been demolished and replaced

In Germany the "custom' version is very similar to the real version, but at some locations it was enhanced by having 4 additonal small bridges in the "flower" circles which avoids the crossing even further. By that it still uses only 2 levels. Having 3 oder even 4 different levels is crazy expensive in RL.

Circles, the best looking interchanges

Most realistic part of cities skylines traffic is the drivers refusing to drive properly causing traffic buildups

Thing is, the custom cloverleaf does have too sharp curves. Everything past that is just garbage, as it does limit the ways you can take. Only the Cloverleaf allows you to drive in every direction and be able to use it like a roundabout.

Pinavia look very good…

You can absolutely do that with the editor in the game, although it's a bit complicated. I just go to the workshop and get the one's other people have made, you can just plop them down. They can be pretty expensive to place but you can use the editor to lower the price or even make them free.

you shouldve seen the intersections in duluth that connected I35 to wisconsin like 5 years ago. i guarantee it was the only one like that. the engineer just dropped a stoplight in the middle of an overpass in the most random spot. and an exit went into a one lane that had a speed limit of 60. so there was just always accidents. i almost died a few times there. they’ve been working on it for a few years now but its probably not gonna be done any time soon.

I always go for parclo’s and turbines, feel the most organic to me

they're all big and clunky~taking up space. I converted all the useless highways running through my city to one way large roads, and cut off all those stupid Intersections with two simple under ground tunnels on each side; nothing flows better!

There's no clear measurement here except that turbine is the absolute worst

TWO PRO TIPS: First tip, don't use the cloverleafs. You want the exits to come before the entrances, otherwise you get cross merging. They're technically lightest on the budget, which is why they exist in real life, but just jam up in heavy traffic. Second, use lane mathematics. I'll explain it on the Turbine if you want to pause on that one and follow along, but the same rules apply to all interchanges, and really, most of the game. Go two or three segments out from each end, and make them 4 lane highways. The exits all split, so make them two lanes from the highway to the split, and make the strait passthrough highway from the split up to where the entrances are 2 lanes. Where the lanes come together before joining the highway, make it two lanes. Then that two lane meets the two lane pass through and hits the 4 lane, and everyone has their own lane. With the TM:PE mod, you can direct all the lanes individually, and have zero mergers throughout the entire loop. The cars just lane select in the 4 lane run-up. You can do this same design with 3 to 6 spurs and have it function the same. If you feed your rural industry areas to the highway like that, and have surface streets with sidewalks and truck restrictions, and/or a metro to get the residents to work, the trucks have a clear path to the highway and never back the cars up.
