    I've watched your videos since I began training in flight school, and now--roughly 10 years and 3500+ hours of flying later--it is still a pleasure watching your videos. Always professional with great skill. I modeled a lot of my flying attitudes after your professionalism. Thank you for all the great videos over the years. Happy landings Captain! All the best!

    I like how you repeatedly say to ALWAYS use checklists. There is at least one popular KZreadr who doesn't, and this bothers me because he's setting a bad example. It doesn't matter how familiar you are with a plane, checklists are crucial.

  • @GuidoWarnecke

    @GuidoWarnecke

    Thank you. Important is to use checklist when nobody watches you on KZread or you instructor is with you. Checklists are really important for flight safety. if you have not done already, try to get the book "the Checklist Manifesto". A really interesting read on how checklists are important in a lot of areas of professional life. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

    @@GuidoWarnecke +1 for the Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande! 🙂 Actually, the book is about the use of checklists in the medical environment, where is led to a significant decrease in post surgery complications (and in extension, fatalities). But the arguments hold true, independent of the field - I started using checklists in IT. Some of them were later turned into scripts - nobody is better at following checklists than a computer... ;-)) (Grmbl - just noticed, my copy is AWOL...)

I also love how you push checklists, as well as highlighting what you are doing on the panel. Many others logging and sharing flights tell what they are doing, but don't show HOW or WHERE they are doing it. I remember all too well how windy it was when I lived in Keflavic. I do believe it's the windiest, most inhabited place on the planet. Not the windiest in the world, but the windiest AND inhabited. Some argue with me about the semantics, so I just wanted to specify that. 🙂 I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, sir, and hope you also have a stellar new year!!

    The aircraft got airborne very quickly, especially considering how slowly the pilot brought in the power. No doubt the 40+ kts of wind on the nose aided in that, while an excess of power coupled with a lightly loaded plane did the rest. Thumbs up, love the content.

    Fantastic video. Thank you. Im nee to your channel and subscribed for your great content. May I please ask, what is the 'click and whoosh' sound coming across in the audio when you set TO power and are accelerating down the runway?

  • @GuidoWarnecke

    @GuidoWarnecke

    7 ай бұрын

    The clicking noise is from a bleed air valve, that did not properly open and trapped some air in it. The bleed air is used to de-ice the windscreen and helps with removing rain on the ground. The CJ dies not have windscreen wipers and an electrically heated windscreen (except the CJ4). Thanks for watching my videos in such detail. To you and your family my best wishes for 2024! • @GuidoWarnecke

    @GuidoWarnecke

    7 ай бұрын

    During climb, the performance decreases quickly. So vertical speed is definitely not a good mode. It may lead to a stall as the autopilot will lift the nose of the aircraft to maintain the selected vertical speed. IAS/FLC is ok too but the best mode in my opinion is PITCH. Happy Landings, Capt. Hello Pierre, as I fly mostly single pilot you have to be very careful with the use if checklists. One the one hand you want to ensure that you cover all items, on the other hand the checklist should not be a distraction from flying. The checklists from the manufacturer are often too detailed Example: take off checklist says "full power"... ok, I think we know that... I use own designed checklists where I put only the challenge, not the response: Example on the final items check list >>lights and heatsconfiguration>Thermos

    Probably Windshield Anti-Ice Bleed Switch ON (Hi or Low) and the Bleed Air manual valves CLOSED. Hence the pulsing (bleed air) trying to get through and defog the Windshield. Normally the this system is activated a few miles before top of descent.

  • @GuidoWarnecke

    @GuidoWarnecke

    7 ай бұрын

    You have a good point here. I think in some airliners there is an automated switch. But I am nit sure as I do not fly these. The Citation jet has a 2 minute limitation for the switch. Not so much for the overheating of the pitot tube (that would just cause some blue heat strains). The limitation is about the AoA angle of attach sensor which is heated by the same switch. They say the bearing would overheat. Best wishes for 2024 for you and your family! Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

  • @rael5469

    @rael5469

    7 ай бұрын

    @@GuidoWarnecke You are right, on our airliners there is a "Probe Heat" switch which is normally in the Auto position. Nobody ever touches it. It can be switched off though. I don't know why you would want to switch it off. If we change a probe we pull circuit breakers. Oh yeah, if we put the aircraft in the "Air Mode" we would probably switch probe heat off. On a side note I used to overhaul the AoA unit in the back shop. To test the heat element I would switch on and watch the amps climb to a set amount and start to decline. That's it. No actual heat test....which always seemed inadequate to me. BUT....I've never heard of any in service problems with them on our Airbus....so the manufacturer must know what they were doing when they wrote the maintenance procedures. As far as the bearing overheating on the AoA......that's interesting because the Airbus (Thales) AoA always seemed to have inadequate bearings. When I sent them out from the shop as serviceable with new bearings I used a dial indicator that measures in grams to measure whatever the spec was. The intent being that the bearing should have enough freedom of movement so that a small dampening weight inside the unit should cause the vane to turn straight up when the aircraft was at rest. I don't know for certain why the manufacturer wanted it that way but I know it is an indication to the pilot that the vane has freedom of movement and will "weather vane" once airspeed starts to build. Otherwise how would you know at a glance whether it is frozen or free? A good item to notice during the walkaround on the A320 family. HOWEVER.......almost all A320s in service the bearing has apparently lost it's lube and they usually come to rest horizontal due to too much friction. The bearing would NOT pass the back shop test. But I understand that back shop standards are not line standards. I think they lose their lube from wind driven rain or something. And again, I've never seen a SDR (service difficulty report) on the AoA being stuck or anything. I think with the sticky bearings it just takes slightly more airspeed to affect movement. Either way whether old or new they should move smoothly with no gritty feel. If it feels gritty at all it should be changed. Thanks very much for replying. Love your videos. I just subscribed !
