Cinnamon Pass 4x4 road in stock Lexus GX460, Silver Creek TH to Animas Forks

Driving Cinnamon Pass in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado in a stock Lexus GX460, 7/2/2023. This is half of the famous Alpine Loop of Colorado (the other half being the Engineer Pass). I’d say it’s doable in a stock 4WD SUV with decent ground clearance, as long as one chooses lines carefully. Video playing at 2x speed

Enjoyed looking over your shoulder and seeing once again all that great Cinnamon Pass scenery. The last time I drove that pass was in 2006 and saw a PT Cruiser climb up to the pass from the Lake City side. Briefly chatted with the driver; it was rental. Thanks for some good memories of that area.

Doing a CO trip with the family and thinking about stopping in Lake city on Day 2 and do cinnamon pass to Ouray on day 3. Did you feel like you needed to air down the tires or anything? I've only ever done it on a dirtbike and had no issues on any pass out there but I know wheeling at altitude is a different thing.

Yes, I aired down my tires to 21psi and that helped out quite a bit

Quick question, in your opinion, is this doable in a f150 crew cab with a popup truck camper with a leveling kit? Looking to go from Silverton to Lake City. Thanks!

Never owned an F150 myself but it should be ok as long as it has 4Lo, high clearance and decent approach angle. I didn't find my GX's 8.1 inch clearance to be an issue, but rather its 21 degree approach angle. Good luck

I was up there in June would have been pretty rough and a F-150 especially a longer wheelbase but doable I think @@rugged9769
