2015 Lexus GX460 door lock actuator replacement

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Step by step instructions on removing and replacing the door lock actuator on a 2015 Lexus GX 460. The replacement actuator was bought on Ebay from actuators plus who I highly recommend. This is the second actuator I bought from them - great service both time, plus Lenny (the owner) is an actuator guru and was able to correctly troubleshoot my problem via email. I paid around $50 for the actuator.

    Thanks for this video! It was extremely detailed and I was able to follow the directions to replace the driver side door actuator for my 2016 Lexus GX 460. The shop was going to charge almost $600 (the dealer would have been significantly more)and I was able to use an aftermarket part that saved me hundreds! Took about 30-40 minutes and that’s being very careful with the clips. Much appreciated!

    Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. This helped me a lot, and i was able to replace the actuator on my 2015 gx460 with ease. One note: after removing the door panel, if there are any plastic grabbing tabs in the door that didnt pull away with the door panel, transfer them to the door panel before reinstallation. Otherise they won't reinstall correctly. And will push the panel away from the door.

    Thank you very much for the video, I have a 2014 LX570 and I could not find a video specifically for the LX lock actuator, it turned out to be exactly the same process as the GX aside from removing the door panel which is very similar too. I was able to get it completed in about 2 hours taking my time, thanks again

    Saved me $1400 (front driver and passenger went out within 2 weeks of each other. Lexus dealer quoted $700 plus for each side) thanks so much because I would have struggled with much of this without your instruction!

    I'm so glad the video was helpful. I'm on my second GX and would guess I've replaced at least 8 actuators.

    @@RickH713 what do you think causes this? What a chronic issue.

  • @RickH713

    @@andyb4071 no idea, other than cheap parts. Apparently the part that fails is a $2 plastic part inside the actuator. If you're up to it, you can rebuild the actuator and replace just that part. I just buy a rebuilt actuator for around $50 to save the time/effort of rebuilding it myself. I don't think the problem is limited to GXs. I have replaced actuators on family members' LS, RX and ES; however, the GX parts seem to fail much sooner (50K miles) than any of the others (typically 100k+ miles).

    both my front doors went bad- sounds like this happens every few years with these actuators. I guess water gets in there bad when it rains and if you use the automatic car washes alot?

    A huge thanks for taking the time to record this. Followed the steps exactly. $100 in parts maybe, 2 hours of labor, and 2 doors swapped out. Saved me at least $600. Thank you!!!!

    Great video! I just did both fronts today and only took a couple hours. One thing I noticed on mine (2012) was for the drivers side, the set screw that holds in the lock has a catch to keep it from falling out (learned that on a different video) So when I backed it out completely both the lock and cover came out in one piece. Not sure that will work for everyone but was handy.

    When you used the touch-unlock feature on that door, did it cause the whole power lock system to attempt to unlock multiple times accompanied by a repeated door-unlock beep from the car?

  • @RickH713

    @RickH713

    2 жыл бұрын

    No, I have not experienced that. The only time I got multiple beeps (not accompanied by the system actually trying to lock/unlock) was when I did not connect the door actuator to the electric plug. Once I took the door panel back off and re-connected everything it worked fine.
