It’s not whether something is wet or dry. What really matters to the human ear is neither the quality of the room nor even the quality of the sound of the instrument. It could just even be a cardboard violin: what really matters to the listener is whether any instrument in any acoustics sounds HUMANLY PERFORMED!!! That’s 99% of the importance. Now, whether it’s performed on the beach or in the bath or in a hall or whether it’s made out of cardboard or is a Strad is entirely secondary. The listener is yearning for emotional playing: human playing. It’s not yearning for Stradivarius nor for a Teldec studio. These are just an added bonus. That’s why so many peoples demos sound laughably artificial.

Truer words have not been spoken. It's why I absolutely adore physical modeling instruments... they let you play an instrument, in real-time. Vibrato and all. Sampling has never been and will never be able to do that. The tone may not be the most breathtaking or realistic, but as long as _you_ play it, it's human. It's music. It's strange how physical modeling is hardly developed. I just hope AI/ML helps it fully develop sooner or later.

Bohemian violin has personality, the other violins sound fine but too generic, clean and predictable.

CSoS sounds too wet. Bohemian Violin sounds dry but in a good way. 8dio Violin sounds just right to my ears. Not too wet. Not too dry. I have the CSoS and the 8dio libraries. Looks like I need to add Virharmonic string libraries to my repertoire when they go on sale.
