That's why they surrounded themselves with lawyers and parents always have to give permission for provocative scenes. What you ever watch the blue lagoon? She was 14. There is a long history of minors actresses and actor performing on "provocative scenes".

Yeah it really makes you think how weird hollywood is I see why now teens in movies or shows arent played by "teens" I would never allow my daughter to act like this on film at 17.

My wife and I just watched The Virgin Suicides last night because we enjoyed this video so much. It's a good movie. Sweet Maggie May, you did a wonderful job. The music and the video go together well. Kudos to you!

Did you got anything out of it? Why did they killed themselves? I still don't think they showed compelling/realistic arguments for any of them to have solid ground for suicide, except maybe for Lux, but even that is quite stretched out to me. And the little girl in the beginning - that absolutely made no sense whatsoever- WTF was that?!!! I heard there was a book the movie is based on, I'm curious what explanation they had for that.

In case anyone is wondering the movie is called Virgin Suicides and it was released in 1999" it's a great movie and features French Artist - Air.. I think this video came out amazing and I love Cigarettes After Sex. At first I thought it was a female singing but I found out it was a guy, he has such an undertone voice so soft and gentle and even sensual.. Great upload.

truly one of my favorite movies. it’s gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, and beautiful at the same time. this song really fits the melancholic vibe of it quite well.

I was 16 when this came out . 38 now, it had a profound impact on me. I suffered from suicidal ideation after my first love. Came from a family of 4 girls, all devout Christians in the 90s. All the boys obsessed with us, but we were loyal only to god but me, the black sheep....where did it get me..mispent youth...still better to love and lost than never to have loved at all....

To me, The Virgin Suicides was one of the saddest films I've ever seen. It's odd because the first time I saw it when it first came out, I didn't like it, thought it was silly but years later, when I saw it again, I loved it, thought it was brilliant social commentary and very sad.

@@sweethope1095 I will have to give the book a read. When I first saw the film, it didn't make any sense to me either but years later, to me, the movie was about female vulnerability. There aren't many movies that take a raw look at that topic, that's why I feel the film was groundbreaking. There are movies about female heroes or female victims but not every day female vulnerability, which is usually repressed. To my way of thinking, the main characters decided that it was better to be dead than to repress their feelings or to deal with their feelings outright.

@@sweethope1095 I began to understand this film while watching my two little girl cousins grow up and I could see that they were immediately at such a disadvantage in life just for having been born female and it totally broke my heart. They were raised by parents who insisted on traditional female roles for them. That's when the movie really clicked and made complete sense to me, in a very sad way.

It is the perfect footage for the perfect song :)

Just saw Virgin Suicides in 2021 thanks to this video. Masterpiece.

I watched this when I was fifteen and tried to read the book. The Mom was crazy strict like The Duggars. She didn't even know why her daughter's wanted out. It was like suicide was the only escape.

It's not easy to find balance in Life. But if you have good friends growing up you have a better chance to find it. The trick is not to fall into the "bad crowd". Great movie. Awesome cinematographic work to develop that special atmosphere that explains confusion in Life.
