CI "Happy Everyday" Surfboard Review Ep 144

Фильм және анимация

In this episode, Noel Salas and friends review the Channel Islands "Happy Everyday."
The "Happy Everyday" in Noel's opinion has tons of drive, quick get-up-and-go speed, lots of speed through turns, and a generous width in the nose and tail. CI created this surfboard to be a small-performance short board, but it actually goes well in overhead surf too and can be categorized as a daily driver as well. It is super forgiving. Noel rode it in the ocean in Southern California and Puerto Rico. He then rode it at Waco Surf with his Raked Thruster Fin setup and as a Quad and Pivot Twin Plus Trailer in head high and smaller waves. Noel calls it a daily driver for 2-6-foot surf.
Shey Yates from XTR loves his "Happy Everyday" and likes it as a thruster with the Neutral FCS II Performer fins in the Carbon Lite technology. He shares about what he likes about the board attributes making this a board he rides in most conditions.
Eric Peterson rides his "Happy Everyday" and felt the board was very favorable and nice and loose, being able to drift the tail when he wanted. He said he felt like he would shorten the board 1-2 inches if he was to ride it again at Waco Surf, but the board went well in mushy East Coast waves and great when the waves got steeper. He rode the Futures Haydenshapes Speed Generating Pivot fins, which helped the board stay loose and also the CI Futures fins in bigger waves at the Outer Banks, which had a little more hold.
Zack Smith loves his "Happy Everyday" and rides it at Waco Surf, in East Texas as well as in Mexico. He said this surfboard gives him the speed he wants in any wave he surfs.
Asa Cascavilla likes his CI "Happy Everyday" and said it transitions well from turn to turn, and it had good drive. He rides it with a Pivot Twin Plus Trailer set up at Waco. The board is super versatile, forgiving and carries good speed. Watch the full review for more. Enjoy!

The OG is epic too. I remember that board surfing a little longer. The H Eday surfs the pocket tighter… surfs more like a HPSB but with more speed and easier to shred. I think the H Eday is more versatile in smaller waves because it’s faster down the line.

The hip is good thank you! The Gremlin and 96 are hard to compare to the H Eday. The Gremlin and 96 have low overall rocker with a hybrid outline. (Wide nose) the Gremlin and 96 cannot draw the sharp lines a small performance board draws because of the bulky wider nose. The Gremlin is a legitimate Groveler… better compared to the Bobby Quad or Pod Mod.

The Swallow tail sounds good to me too. It should offer more hold and drive through turns. The Squash should pivot faster and offer a little more release. I also think Squash tails carry more down the line speed due to the wider tail block creates more lift. That’s how they feel to me.

H Eday offers way more performance in the pocket… surfs more vertical and carves are sharper due to its outline. However I find boards with the wide point forward don’t surf as vertical as boards with wide point at center or behind center.

Nice review. Can anyone who has recently owned a CI epoxy Spinetek board comment on its durability? I’ve heard CI poly boards have notoriously poor glassing and pressure dent very easily. That said I just snapped my stringerless DHD epoxy on a 6’ SoCal wave. I honestly don’t understand why board makers don’t make stock stringered epoxies. They simply don’t exist off the shelf. All my custom boards with that construction surf the best and are the most durable, but I just hate waiting months for them to get made.

I like so many boards you are considering. The bottom line is choosing the right board with the right rocker for your waves. If your home break waves are fast and hollow when they are overhead then you might want a board with a little more rocker CI Pro 2. If your home breaks have flatter faced waves with some push then I recommend the Happy Everyday or I72. Both of these boards draw high performance lines and easy to shred compared to a typical HPSB.

I just reached out to the folks at T&C and they are sending in the Nomad for review. We are stoked to start getting their sleds on our show for review. I will check out the After Burner. Cheers

@@surfnshowreviews7777 10x for the reply, indeed widening the board brands would be nice... i do not know the nomad but it looks like the after burner stacks up to a very popular category - the 'HP SB Wide' as ben gravy names it. so its similar to the likes of CI 2 happy, lost PJ pro, rusty SD maybe etc.... all of which you probably reviewed and so comparissons can be done...
