For fifty years Justo Gallego, a former Benedictine monk, has been building a church in Mejorada del Campo, twenty kilometers east of the Spanish capital Madrid. The huge building attracts large numbers of visitors to the town and is financed by donations.

It’s been 9 years, and Justo is still alive, god is great!

I personally would donate my saving for his cathedral. I believe he can do it.

I bet you he wouldn’t be able. Donate your money to your local church. It would be put to more use in one month than this guy could do in 5 years.

Es impresionante verla de cerca es enorme 53 años trabajando solo ahora tiene un sobrino que le ayuda y un amigo pero es increíble lo construido sin planos ni proyecto de arquitectura.

When God's wisdom works for it who could distroy it?! Doesn't need an architect God him self is an architect like Noah's ark
Most of the churches are take take but him it's give give his whole Amen
according to the real architect the structure of the church is not safe because of materials that have been used from recycling it is dangerous that this magnificent structure might collapse due to slight earthquakes in the future

Well, then there‘s a challenge to engineers and architects here. Instead of building awful blocks of appartments or a high speed railway in the sands of Saudi Arabia, they could well reinforce the cathedral and finish it. Way older buildings without modern technology are still there, Justo‘s building for several decades with the main structure already built... many houses from architects fall down after a couple of years... but they lack something, courage for learning slowly day by day, determination for dedicating themselves to one and only thing. That teaches way more than a degree anywhere, don‘t underrate that

La catedral de Don Justo resistirá al igual que el acueducto de Segovia, más de 2000 años construido y todavía intacto ni un terremoto, le ha derribado. Piedra sobre piedra sin pegamento, y ahí sigue en pie. La catedral está hecha a conciencia. Seguro durará cientos o miles de años.

@Kiko Rianzo Sad news from Don Justo, although he has had a purpose in life until the end of it. Just a few lucky chosen can actually live by their dreams. I haven't checked it, but whether or not was it so, I hope Don Justo knew already about the engineers taking over his cathedral before he passed away. Anyhow, divine justice has been made for Don Justo! When "nomen est omen"...

Recycled materials are not the problem. You can build safe buildings based on recycled materials. Recycled doesn't mean, that the materials are structurally weak. It's the missing structural engineering that could lead into a problem.

The church is not a building, nor an organization with a real estate with a hierarchy from the top (CEO, Pope, clergy) to the bottom (workers, laity who suppose to tithe) with bookkeeping and tax benefits. The biblical church is a living organism, contains building blocks called saints who believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. You cannot enter into it by membership payments and permission of the Priest or Pope, only God is the one who adds members to it. Acts 2:47
