After all, their stained glass windows, marble finishings, and beautiful artwork make them a sight to behold, and to this day there are millions of parishioners that visit them regularly. However, while most churches operate on a small scale, there are a few churches that provide services to thousands of people per week, with some even having more seats than many professional sports stadiums! So today, grab your hymn books and prepare to be amazed as we count down the Top 15 Biggest Megachurches in the World!

It doesn't look like an overglorified office building cafeteria. It doesn't look like a church was put in a parking lot with some white walls. This is a wonderfully beautiful interior. It's riotously colorful, but also graceful. It uses the enormous space to full effect, with those huge mosaics under the dome shimmering so brightly. The mosaics themselves are also so delicate-looking, and proportional. Love that there is this electric blue tinge underlying most of the mosaics and the space itself. Truly a sight to see! There is no church that can beat St Peter's Basilica of Vatican .*** There are several very large churches in Italy. not mentioned in this video. *** With Love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Milan cathedral gets no love it's so beautiful and outstanding compared to the rest
Aya Sofya isn't important for its size and decoration, but its architecture. It's the first building with a dome in history, and a model for practically every church and mosque since then. It's really underestimated even by Greeks for the sake of the Parthenon, which is actually not so hard to build.
Love it
The churches are huge. How do they keep these beautiful buildings clean ?
so. Im assuming Cologne Cathedral, the Vyšehrad, church of our lady before Týn, and Saint Vitus cathedral don't exist?
The National Shrine in Washington DC should be on this list, it's certainly worthy and the tenth largest Catholic Church in the world.
MARVELOUS👋-💥🥰😇 Que hermosura, Gracias Dios por todos los grandes arquitectos y personas con FE QUE SABEN TRASCENDER Y CON 💘 SE DEJAN GUIAR POR EL ESPÍRITU SANTO Y DAN LO MEJOR🥰😇💪🤝🙏💥🌎. FELICITACIONES. Interesting that you did not include the biggest brick church in the world that have a capacity for 25,000 people. St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk Poland.

jasna gora in czestochowa [my family city] is very big and impresive too
There a lot of modern being building around the world today but nothing can compare with the stunning, marvellous and full of details from the churches architeture from Europe
Ulm cathedral might be the tallest protestant cathedral but it is in no other way the largest. That honor belongs to York Minster in England.

Until the late 19th century Salisbury (404ft) had the tallest spire, It was a decision of Kaiser Wilhelm the second to give Ulm its spire to wind up Queen Victoria.
God bless you all family ❤
I found myself waiting for Notre Dame. Not sure of its size, but felt it at least deserved an honourable mention.
God bless us start and end your day with our ALMIGHTY GOD. THANKS
You forgot the most beatiful of all, The Beatiful Prinvince temple in Guadalajara, Mexico; able to seat 15,000 people at once.
I didn't know middle eastern countries still tolerated us middle eastern Christians, I'm so happy! I'm an Assyrian roman catholic, and every day I wonder how my homeland would be, but it has been torn by multiple events. I wish to see it one day, flourishing!

They dont. Thousands of Christians are being persecuted in the Middle East especially Muslim countries being forced to convert to Islam or face death.
Funny story about St John The Devine: They had peacocks on the church property and one day someone stole one of them. But the next day they bought it back because it was too loud.

The Basilica of St. Joseph in Montreal, Canada deserves a place here. It is one of the largest in the world, also, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico.
2:42 the best, Milan 🔝
Not on here, but St. Simeon, The Cave Church in Cairo is the biggest church I've visited. Not to mention, they have zipline
One thing is evident. The more modern of these churches that try to imitate or mimic the classical architecture of the past do a woefully inadequate job of doing so.

I wonder if God sees it this way.
For us Orthodox Christians, Agia Sofia will always be the heart of the Orthodox world.
Where is Saint Sava’s basilica in Belgrade?
To put things into perspective, Angkor Wat in Cambodia is still the largest religious structure ever built and is still being used for religious purposes today. Theravada Buddhist monks and nuns can still be seen today practicing the religion. Angkor Wat is still a site for pilgrimage for Buddhists today.

@@penyembahnabcabl9535 ,, Angkor Wat hasn't been a Hindu temple since the late 12th century, when Jayavarman VII became king of the Khmer empire. He was Buddhist and converted the Khmer empire state religion to Buddhism.

12:00 The Basilica Lady of Aparecida, in Brazil, is the second largest in the world. Its indoor area has the capacity for up to 30,000 people for a mass, while the outdoor area has the capacity to support an mass of 300,000 people.
the most beautiful thing about liverpool anglican cathedral is how huge it looks from a distance. there’s a street i walk past on the way to university that you can see the cathedral from if you look down, and it looks massive from there.

Why is Cologne Cathedral missing in this list?
the architect who designed the Liverpool cathedral looks somewhat startled, almost as if he didn't expect to be picked.

Hi Mary 👋🏻
These are Mega Churches indeed. Opinions are going to be really divided on this one. Greetings from Canada!
Church is not a building.
Unfortunately the church of Cluny III was demolished, otherwise it would be in this selection. I think you might make the 15 maddest churches on Earth. In my opinion the church of Beauvais would rank in the top.

@@sheilanixon913 Yes, but it will not be in this list, because it is not big enough. Nor the biggest actual Ortodox Cathedral, the People´s Salvation Cathedral in Bucharest.
I have doubts as to how accurate this list is.
Seville's belltower La Giralda is actually the former minaret of the old mosque
You missed the Keukelberg Basilica in Brussels, Belgium.
Cologne Cathedral is missing.
Nice Tartarian Power Stations!
I thought a Mega Church was defined by it's congregation size and seating capacity.
Seville Cathedral is built INTO the Mosque ! La Giralda was the Minaret…
Amazing churches awesome 👍
