My mom worked at a factory that made Converse back in 1976. She sewed the All-Star logo on high-tops. I showed her my pair of Chuck 70s and she said they were exactly how she remembered them.

I bought my first pair of blue canvas Chuck Taylors in Detroit, back in the early 70's. Had a pair of high tops in black for playing b-ball in high school. Glad to see that they are still growing strong, and improving with age. Damn I'm getting old. :(

Weighing in on the extra stitching! I know 100% the reasoning for it. Although yes, it does provide more lateral support for any light physical activity, and it does help keep the two layers of canvas together, those are only a byproduct. The reason that is there is actually for the tongue :P The tongue widens out near the front of the shoe like a “T” and the left and right side is pieced and stitched into the both sides there to prevent it from moving. If you unlace your C70’s fully and pull open take a peek yourself, you’ll see that the tongue widens out and goes into the side there just around the first eyelet. And now you guys know! 😜

The Chuck II was too similar to the skate version known as the Converse CONS CTAS (Chuck Taylor All Star). They both feature the Lunarlon insole from Nike. The CTAS has seen many revisions over the years and was originally known as the CTS. What was so great about the CTS were the quality insoles, suede toe caps, and a decent amount of memory foam padding in the tongue and collar. I never understood why Converse had to have the OG Chuck Taylor, the Chuck 70, Chuck Taylor II, and CTAS all at the same time. What made the Chuck II such a standout for you?

I got a pair of 70's three weeks ago. They're worth the extra $30. Stronger canvas and better cushioning, and just feel better on my feet. I wasn't sure I liked the off white gloss of the outsole and toecap, but after a few wears, I'm good. Nick's review is the best one I've seen comparing the two.
Nice vid. I currently have 12 pair of All star, 6 pair of 70´s and one pair of All star 2. I tend to use the All stars in spring and summer, the 70`s is great in the autumn and wintertime here in Sweden. The All star 2 I never use, I think they suck 😆
bought a pair of 70's in 2018 still use them and it's my DAILY ones. They legit barely have any wear and tear, unlike my all stars previously that went doodo after 3 months during the summer
Defidently worth the buy!! I’ve got 2 pairs of the chuck 70s, and they are amazing!!
I have a pair of All Stars but instead of the lightweight canvas it's more of a thicker "regular" shoe material. The color is a "static gray" with it being mainly gray but it's grainy with black and white specks in it, if that makes sense. Really it's kinda like gray canvas with a soft backing or something. I dunno what the exact model is though. I don't think I've ever gotten more compliments on a pair of shoes than I have with my All Stars, lol. I took up weight lifting early this year and they work great for that too. One day I will have huge man legs like the man himself Nick. 😲🦵 Maybe I'll pick up a pair of the 70s too! Thanks for the review big 🐕, great as always

Good choice! Glad to have you here, bro.
By far the best review of the original and the 70s that I’ve seen on here. The only thing that I still have questions about is the sizing. I get what you’re saying about the differences in sizing between the original and the 70’s but are you saying that Chuck Taylor’s in general run true to size? Because I’ve always had discrepancies with this. In almost all brands of shoes I wear US10.5 - US11 but in Chuck Taylor’s, I wear a US9.5, yet the measurements between the Chuck Taylor’s and other shoes should be standardly the same, right?
Unexpected but let’s go! Love the shoe review

Just bought me a pair today of all stars and they are the lightest shoe and super good for driving in they glue to your feet
growing up in panama city, panama in the 80"s we recognized the converse chuck Taylor for the thin tip, "" the toe cap"" was more narrow , the new chuck Taylor were more like clown shoes cost me 20.99 $ in 1981
I agree, the 70s are Badass. While they failed, I have a pair of Chuck 2s and absolutely adore them 😂 I don't wear them often, but they feel amazing. As far as comfort, the 70s AND Chuck 2 craps all over the standard pair
everything I needed to know, thanks
One clear advantage of the standard Chucks is that they have tongue holders. The left tongue on Parchment 70s constantly slides down. The ankle patch looks better on the standard Chucks as well.
Good video, as always. Between the Chuck 70s and the Nothing New sneaker, which one do you think is more comfortable?
I didn’t even notice the lack of a rigid heel stay/support on the 70s, but that would explain why my heel slips a bit. I am not sure I’ll actually get used to the squishy sole of the 70s.
I got my first pair maybe my first year of high school in 1989/90… I can’t remember if I had the black first but I def had a pair of purple high tops. They were from an old Army Navy with old stock so they had a black rubber heel tag.
Great video! I've had my 70's around six months and I LOVE them. I work s very physical job and walk 10k+ a night. They're still brand new!!!

thank u so much for this amazing helpful video
Yes, I came here to looking for help with the right size and I have just purchased a pair of low tops. I normally were a size 10.5 in Nikes (Blazers for example). I also have wider feet. I ended up trying out a size 10 first, which fit, but was just a half size too big for me and just looked long. So I tried a 9.5 and the fit was good. Just a little bit on the narrow size, but I have wide feet. Overall the 9.5 is much better look and fit. On the comfort scale, compared to the All-Star, it is a notable improvement to where I can actually wear a pair of chucks and not regret it. The 70s are the way to go and the way chucks should be made period.
As far as sizing I normally wear an 8m in the classic chuck But felt that the chuck 70 was still a 1/2 size to big so I’m going to return and try a 7-1/2
I had 5 pair of all stars before I was 4 years old, I had a red pair, white pair, and blue pair around my 3rd birthday. My parents were like that in the early 90s.

The 70s are great but the IIs, especially the counter climate ones that kept some water away, were crazy comfortable and had robust construction. I prefer the aesthetics and waxed sole and laces of the 70s any day but the Lunarlon on the IIs feel superior (imo) than the 70s.

I didn't know about the 70s and have 3 pair of All Stars, 2 pair of One Stars, and 2 platform Lifts...lol! I have many shoes, too, and like variety so I don't worry about them wearing out too much. I also have a decent amount of Vans. I was on Vans first because the All Stars I had were not as sturdy. Vans definitely made sturdier. However, I got the One Stars and I absolutely LOVE the comfort of them. The Lifts as well. I still have feeling for my Vans and have work them so much that shoe lace had to be replaced instead of the shoe. But comfort of Converse of Lifts and One Stars are impeccable. Never bought a 70...and not sure I will any time soon. I need to chill on shoe buying.
Wanted something like Chucks. Ended up getting a like new pair of Shoes Like Pottery black high tops for a little more than the cost of Chucks. I suspect these will last me a long time and I own a pair of white low tops and the comfort level is incredible.
loved the video man🙏
I never owned all-stars due to lack of cushion. Since the Chuck 70, I have sold every other sneaker including all my Jordans. I have never felt more liberated than after selling my last J, Cement 3.

I have the all star summer edition, the upper is made from mesh.. it's different.. better quality, stronger, and off course it's look modern than the canvas one

Cdg play converse is what I’m rocking for years
For years I’ve been on the fence on buying converse ever since my mom bought me a pair that later fell apart 3 months later.
Wish the 70s had a wide option... but yea I use the all stars for lifting and a more beat one pair as house shoes. And my 70s as my daily shoe
If I had to wear one shoe for the rest of my life I would choose the classic converse all Star high top in black because I can do almost anything in them except for running and fast treadmill walking. Since a teen I have only have been wearing converse I can skate in them, do MMA in them, ride my bike in them and they are the best gym shoe. I personally believe are comfortable and last long, my leather converse high-top's lasted 7y and I literally did everything in them! :) I also believe that converse are the most unmaterialistic shoe that there is and the opposite of greed, even tho I love my chucks I refuse to have a collection, I used to have like 9 chucks but I decided to donate them to the poor cuz they need them more than me, so now I only have 2 pairs of chucks. Life is too short for me to worry about my shoes or to start a sneakers collection that why I ended up wearing the same shoe/shoe style for so many years :)
Love them both, but once I went 70 I was like dame this is what I've been missing 🤣👌🏽

70's are my favourite.I like classics but they are uncomfortable after a while.I love how comfortable are chuck II but i miss the white stiches and the black line on the sole when i look them.70's are comfortable and have the classic look too.And the materials are better. They look and feel premium. The insole on 70's is also better than the ortholite they use on some converse models like Courtlands.

Converse are my favorite but I haven't been sure whether to consider the 70. The sole looks too chunky but maybe I should give it a ago. The sunflower 🌻 70s or all white would be my choice

hello, which of this pair is best for wide feet?
I'm in my late 40s and found a strong liking for Chuck 70 hi top. I'm from India where we have bright sunny days round the year, except 3 months of rainy season. So could you please suggest whether I should get a good pair of Chuck 70? Should it be Black/Blue/Gray to be on safe side or try some different fall colors?
I am making people aware of the materials used in the pair of CT 70 I purchased Using Rose Anvils dissection of the ct vs ct70 the footbed, I found that the 70 I had still used the same construction as the cheaper ct, I contacted converse and they told me they have the right to use whatever materials they want and that if I did not want the premium 70 I should return them Check out what the shoes are made of before you purchase them
I know this is super late but I’m concerned about the arch support- I’m quite a flat footed person and arch support usually ends up in blisters, would that be an issue with shoes like the chuck 70 or it’s derivatives like the Malden Street Mids?
How much cushion is there for the heel? My heels get very sore with flat soles in shoes *cough all stars cough* Does the chuck 70's have more cushion in the heel or just the arch? Thanks!
Compare the OG Chuck to the ‘70s to the skate CTAS version, please!
Is there any diference in size for this 2 shoes. I feel like the chuck 70 it feels smaller when I were them. Should I ask for bigger size of this new model?
