Hi Mark, been watching your videos for years, never thought to comment. But there's no other fishing blog that I watch regularly and for any length of time, so just thought I'd show my appreciation. Thanks Mark 👍

Interesting the way u use those crayfish as a signal !..that fish have moved into the vicinity....the throat teeth of a chub would have no problem munching down on their skeletal armour..

Exactly having been on the receiving end of their throat teeth it would have no issues at all.

Hello Mark, thanks for sharing your great fishing video, your tackle review and a nice chub to go with it. Look forward to the next episode.

Cheers Tinker, must seem like I'm almost promoting those rods but they're bought and paid for by me. Do like them though as you can probably tell, fit well on the old bike.
A cheap tin of cat food, punctured plenty of times and attached to some string etc.... and dropped in the margins. The crays will be onto that like flies to a cow pat. It's an old matchmans trick and it does work Mark because I've tried it 👍👍👍

Thanks, will do! Daz! Cheers for watching!
Great video, spent 20 years fishing on that river. Red signals drove me nuts, caused me to get my golf clubs out again. I don’t wether they are protected, restaurants used to buy them off the trappers.

Hah John well they have not got any better, however autumn and winter is more peaceful!
Enjoyable video as always Mark and a cracking chub, well done! I’ve just started fishing the Kennet again this season after a break of several years so I had almost forgotten what a pain the signals can be!

Hi, Mark. Have noticed in my own fishing on a crayfish infested river, the Korea extenda bait stops , slow the crayfish down a bit. Also I've used the cryogen hooks, prefer the " classic " for my own fishing. Got an slightly inturned point, but the grippers , I might start using them for cheese paste straight on the hook. I have tended to mould the paste round a small wafter, with a bait band tied onto hair , rather than tying a loop. But if I used a boilie, it would be a loop, Combined with the extenda stop. Cheers.

Hey there Nicholas i have used extenda stops for the passed 10 years and usually purchase them from Ali express as cheapest, whilst they help a lot they do not totally stop the gits! I did look at the cryogen classics but being used to the old Palatrax the hook and HLS wide gapes that is why i went for them in gripper style, got to say i do like them.
Great vid mark

@@francolinobasco very true but if you spend to much time editing you will run out of material. double edged sword
I've been using the ESP cryogen hooks pretty much since they came out and I can't fault them. I've never bent or broken one and the points last better than any hook I've experienced. One tool I'd highly recommend is a Gardener Point Doctor 2 (the red ones, I think they do a finer blue one), it a little rectangular rubber/eraser covered in abrasive that you can use to polish a hook point to hypodermic sharp with no real skill or finesse, they really are great for quickly and easily touching up a hook after a fish and I think they only cost a couple of quid and last for ages.

They sure are and thanks mate!
Those crayfish must be a real pain Mark. I would be interested to know if anglers ever target them and use them for bait? We have our own variety here, known as a yabby (cherax destructor) and apart from being good eating, they are a gun bait for almost all natives and redfin (perch). Even carp will take them at times.

I am sure they do use them but it is illegal to do so, daft as it sounds.

Hello ! I have a question. Are chubs of this size "common" I mean, doable frequently, in consistants location ? I mean, do you have to travel a lot and find the perfect spot before doing one of this ? If it's the case, I'm gonna consider travelling in here really seriously xD

I do a lot of hunting around and map work and looking to find fish like this, some times you get rewarded and sometimes you don't. but in the UK we have some very good chub fishing.

@@francolinobasco I was blasted, what you are able to catch now is the work of years and years and I've juste underestimate it because your videos make it feel like it was something easy. But no, you've just put a lot of passion, work and time in all of it. I'm seriously hopping to make beast like this in France, even if I don't even know if we have chub like this here xD Once again thanks, I'm a bit too arrogant and I know now that I've a lot to learn :p
