Chu Shong Tin | 1995 Wing Chun Kung Fu Seminar

Chu Shong Tin's 1995 Wing Chun Seminar at the IWCA. I have re-compiled clips into sequence and fixed the audio as much as possible. Hope you enjoy watching!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wing Chun Kung Fu is a style of martial arts that may help you to improve your health, posture, power and mind force. The style was developed 300 years ago by Buddhist Nun, Ng Mui, in order to overcome larger and stronger opponents without the need to be big and strong.
Nim Tao Wing Chun's head instructor, Sifu Maksem, teaches the Chu Shong Tin method and aims to pass on the style without altering its time tested and proven methods.
Sifu Maksem has been a student of the Chu Shong Tin lineage for 15 years, under Sifu Mark Spence, and continues to live and breathe martial arts. With more than 28 years of martial arts experience and a diploma in remedial massage, Sifu Maksem is able to help students reach their full potential with his clear and in-depth understanding of Wing Chun.
As an ex full-time instructor at Chi Sau Club, Sifu Maksem has spent many long hours in training and can transfer direct experience to students in a clear and precise manner. Nim Tao Wing Chun prides itself on it's friendly approach to learning and it's dedication to remaining true to the methods of Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin.

While his methods changed over the years, his mastery of the details is apparent in each movement. Great video. Thank you.

Amazing to see how much more lively, certain, and springy his posture, movements and general vitality is in this video. Fantastic for someone in his 60's. I guess this was before he took that medication that had detrimental side effects on his joints.

Classic thanks for posting! Brings back good memories of 'the Academy' and the first flush of excitement about learning the real art of Wing Chun as against what it looks like from outside. So good to see our dear departed Masters together!

Wish the audio was better to understand the translators comments. Otherwise excellent material. I've read some say how his teachings changed over the years but from what I see from him demo on tan, fook and bong sau, not much is changed. His energy and techniques are very much the same.

Nice. I remember that evening well. The lessons we received were made easier to understand over time and more exposure to his mastery and understanding. Thank you 🙏 .

Bong sau/high fuk sau are used for blocking straight punches/hooks. I have seen from some slow motion boxing matches that Pacquiao used some kind of high fuk sau to block hooks. This way your opponent's hook will hit your elbow and you can protect your head.
