Chrysler V8 turbo ~ 1969 Valiant Pacer

George's Valiant Pacer runs a best pass of 9.80 for the day on just 8psi boost, this Val has a lot more left in it. The Chrysler small block V8 turbo has made a dyno proven 1000+hp on 20psi boost so the long term aim it to run into the low nines. Boost comes from a Borg Warner Bullseye Power S480 turbocharger and Wolf V550 EFI running on pump unleaded petrol. [ HMI360 ]

    What a beautiful car my first car was a vf valiant povo pack 3 on the tree extractors a holley 350 and electronic ignition bought it in 1990 I was 15 and raced all my mates in there 253 308 commodores and they couldn't catch me wish I still had it bullet proof car back in the day now I just cruise my vc wayfarer Ute 360 727 9 inch 7.5 90mph 8th mile good fun on the streets

    Love Mopar too!! especially if its got a turbo under the hood. I once saw in a Mopa magazine years ago a 69 Dodge Daytona that had the 440 pulled out and an 8.0L Dodge Viper V-10 installed

    Michael Ellestad ended up selling it, needed work, gas was going up and feeding a bigblock was not fun:-(

    There is nothing 318 about that motor. Its a aftermarket R3 block with a Callies stroker crank.

    @@adamrushka8096 ...it's a Mopar R3 race block with 318 mains, but it was bored and stroked to a 390 small block...still bad ass though

    I agree silly thing to say. My first two cars in 1963 and 1968 had 318 cu in motors and the was noting wrong with them.

    mark the tire and rim, i would suspect a small amount of tire slip on the rim.

    Know what seems funny and offbeat about this? I'm an old bloke, 52. Even back in the 70's a slant 6 245 with a blower on it was a weapon. Not many people were messing with turbos then, it was not 'new' by any means, but it was a bit new to the go-fast car crowd. But you could get a Garret T04, and on a 245... It would have been much better with an intercooler, they were a bit new as well. But E38 and E49 Chargers would do a GTHO, and that turbo Pacer would do either of them, at the Brickpits, like half their high tension leads were off. Shame it was purple...

    What are you talking about old timer ;). No such thing as a 245 Slant 6. There was the 225 slant 6, and then 245/265 Hemi 6, completely different engines, not even similar. No one was turbocharging Valiants in the 70s.....not on the street anyway. Yes a certain drag racer in Adelaide did supercharge his Hemis and Slants...but they were drag rails...proper dragsters.

    Why does the pressurized air from the turbo run all the way across the engine bay (under the car) to the opposite side of the motor before blowing into the throttle body? Isn't that just increasing lag time?

    Why only 8psi of boost ? It'd be hard not to turn up that boost controller if i owned this Beauty. Dial up at least 12-16 psi and run her...should be a safe level....No ? Awesome Car
