CHROMALUME I: Adagio for Strings and Singers (Samuel Barber)
Музыка
Composer: Samuel Barber (1910-1981)
Music: Adagio for Strings, Agnus Dei for Double Choir
Imagery generated with Runway AI.
I mixed together recordings of the instrumental and vocal versions of Barber's famous Adagio from his String Quartet. It was a good amount of work to get the recordings to line up, and for some sections I actually would play with an antiphonal quality that I had already used in my own composition KYRIE for Double Choir.
I do think an organ+choir+strings version with a bit of antiphony could actually really elevate this work. It takes on a transcendent quality when these soaring falling lines start into counterpoint. Hope you enjoy this version.
This was a fun project and a good learning experience for my fledgling baby audio mixing/video creating skills!

Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings is in my opinion the most poignant and beautiful string piece ever composed. How it can be filled with so much pathos and hope at the same time is amazing. This is a wonderful version.
The first time I heard this I was completing an assignment from a high school music teacher. She asked that we attend a concert and write a paper about the experience While my compatriots went to rock shows, I went to hear our local symphony. If I could only hear one piece of music for the rest of my life, this would be it. I sat in the audience crying - it's soooo sad and yet somehow very beautiful. Thank you Mrs. C!

It's not often art can bring us to tears just through its beauty, but it's certainly magical when it does... 🥹 My first experience of that was, oddly enough, when the blackhole _Gargantua_ was shown, in the movie "Interstellar". Probably because I had seen a Science Channel docu that detailed the making of it, and how they had real astrophysicists run massive simulations to come up with how it should look in real life... It was the most accurate simulation we had performed, and that's what we see in the movie! (those very scientists published a paper on it, there was that much genuine science involved) And when we finally managed to image a real blackhole, _Messier 87_ (M87), it showed all those hallmarks! 😀 _(albeit at infinitely lower resolution)_ Then, once again, when _Sagittarius A*_ (center of the Milky Way) was imaged. But yea, Adagio also does, as it is a beauty for the ears! Especially with those voicalists ♥️ Tiësto's EDM version of it is also amazing. It likely won't move you to tears, but it *will* likely move your _body!_ 🕺🏼💃🏼 😅
PLATOON!!!!!!!!!!!!❤️Oliver Stone NAILED IT I enlisted in May 69, Armor Crewman. (Sheridan) Eventually put my packet in for Warrant Officer Academy and Flight School retired in 1997. I was recalled back on Active Duty in 2007 x 3 years because the 1st Cav had a critical shortage of Senior Warrant Officers and Blackhawk Drivers to deploy to Iraq ( Taji, what a dump!!!. Sad to say it was a hard 3 years!!! I didn’t even recognize the Army. I turned 60 in 2010 flying in a Combat Zone with young soldiers and had hard time fitting in. The 80’s was a great time though.

This adagio has and will always haunt me till the day I die. Never has a piece of music and a film, married, the way platoon and Barber's Adagio does. Beautiful, hypnotic, sad, majestical and heavenly. This music flows perfectly.

The best composition by Barber.... Part of my life since ever....🌟🌟🌟

adagio was the theme for the sequence in the game Homeworld when the Mothership quickly Jumps back to the construction dock only to find the planet and the dock destroyed, and the last 600000 people left frozen in cryopods being attacked by Frigates. @goodhartsmusic
8 ай бұрын
@@radiophodity Your opinion is welcome here. Some things about the video I don’t like and would redo, but i enjoy it overall, and I enjoy the mixed ensembles version and its antiphonal moments. I also think, because AI causes justifiable anxiety about an uncertain future and because it can produce odd images that lack the wisdom of human craft, people are very quick to dismiss things with AI components. I think if I said I painted all of this and made a video from my paintings, there would be the opposite reaction. Maybe, who knows. I’d be interested in knowing what moments or aspects you think detract from the piece. Always down to learn about other perspectives. Thanks for your time!

This is "church music" I grew up with! It's solemn and puts you in touch with the deepest recesses of your being. Whether that's a happy or sad place, depends on what you're made of.

There was no Samuel Barber in my church when I was growing up. It was all the same hymns in the hymnal. Fantastic new sounds would have been much better. Wouldn't have done much good for me, religion is a crock of... However, more meaningful and deeply felt music may have helped my salvation from cleared eyed reason, to falling into a pit with no outcome.

Cet Adagio de Barber est un pur chef d’œuvre. Je l’ai découvert en regardant le film de David Lynch, elephant man et mort à Venise de Visconti. Depuis il m’accompagne assez régulièrement dans ma vie, parfois mélancolique.
I used to play the saxophone in school. That summer I became a cowboy. I got kicked in the head breaking a horse. Got stitches. I went back to school. Band started. I didn't realize it, didn't know. I couldn't read music anymore. And I couldn't do fractions anymore either. I hide it. My step mom taught me the piano. Soon that too went away. All I can do now is just listen and watch the scale fall out of my head and I can't bring it back.
Simply beautiful. Finest piece ever written
