Reeve was my favorite, but I think Brandon Routh's portrayal is more like how Superman would act.

My mom was one of the doctors who treated Christopher Reeves after his spinal cord injury. She said he's a real class act and he raised a shit ton of money for research and donated a fancy research lab that I worked at for several years, which still operates to this day. RIP superman, what a legend.

Those are common among quadriplegics and others who are confined to a wheelchair or bed bound due to an inabilty to move independently to allow blood to circulate.

When you think about it, Superman came from a planet where being as strong as he is was normal. So with Christopher Reeve’s physique, having super strength without the extreme musculature makes a lot more sense.

Tall, good looking, muscular and his polite manner of speaking really filled the shoe of what a Superman should be. His kind attitude and big Heart were the bonus.

I mean, no, people on PEDs can absolutely look like this, and I wouldn't be surprised if Reeves was on testosterone supplementation if this transformation was decently quick. Taking steroid's doesn't make you a bodybuilder, taking a serious amount of them combined with the right work does. Plenty of dude's on gear look worse than Reeves did in his prime because they don't know what they are doing.

My grandma was one of Christopher Reeves' nurse that took care of him for decades. He is truly a real superman in real life! He supported my grandma and my family even with his condition. He is truly underrated and is the best superman, not only in the film, but also in real life for what he did for my grandma and my family as well.

​​​@@cyruskhalvatiten to eight weeks is plenty of time. It really doesn't take a very long time for your body to transform if you have the consistency and dedication. 178 to 220 is not a huge leap. That's about 45 lbs. He bulked up, had a high protein diet, which with proper training can have you gain muscle mass incredibly quickly, and he also took vitamins. Achieving 45 in growth within ten weeks is incredibly achievable. Doing that and having the muscle definition you see actors having nowadays however, is far less likely and incredibly suspicious of steroids or PEDS.

Especially considering that there was no memory effect since he had been skinny for his whole life before that. He probably took human growth factors which were really popular among actors of that era, not considered juicing and often sold to the actors as vitamin pills.

I had the honor to meet Christopher Reeve. even in the wheelchair I was in absolute awe of how powerful he still seemed, has to be one of the strongest people I've ever had the honour to meet. He said words of encouragement to me, yet he couldn't move his body

I grew up watching him in the spanish channels, his mannerism his way of being strong and kind, influenced me alot, he will always be my only true version of superman.

He perfectly embodied Superman and Clark Kent from the comics No other Superman actor has been able To do that

This Man convinced me that Superman was real when I was a kid. And he has never failed to make me carry that belief into adulthood. RIP Mr Reeves.

Not only a Superman for generations but literally a hero in his own right. Literally got paralyzed and kept living his life and not giving up. A man who played a Superhero all about hope and literally became the face of hope himself. RIP Christopher Reeve we will all miss you!

His face is spot on and most suitable superman....

That is the Superman I grew up with and loved. That guy was a class act. He seemed filled with kindness.

Now, that's what you call pure dedication to a role. He was hands down, the best superman, ever.

Saw Superman in the theater in 1978. It was visually stunning at the time. Reeve was the blueprint.

​@@porko882 Brandon Routh is naturally bigger than either Reeves or Cavill. He didn't bulk up to his easily achieved potential because he was playing Reeves' version of Superman. He walks around at Reeves and Cavill's size without working out

A proper old school superhero actor. Christopher Reeve was mentally jacked as well. He fought after the accident until the end.

Christopher Reeve will always be the quintessential Superman irrespective of who may come and go in the future!

The thing about Superman that's lost on a lot of live action interpretations is that he has a face you can trust. Superman is known just as much for his kindness as he is his super strength... maybe call it super strength of character 😊

​@@michaelcoletta4547it's harder to build muscle the taller you are. That's why mf under the average height are able to fill out there frame by just reading the word creatine. (Of course you have to work hard in either situation but it is way harder for those who are tall)

Not really, it depends on muscle genetics and athleticism. He has a great frame and good genetics.

Was and still is.... will always be the best to ever play the role. One of my favorite movies as a kid

He is still the first actor that pops into my head whenever someone brings up Superman adaptations. Will never forget how he flew around the globe so fast he made it spin the other way to turn back time😮‍💨

He was perfect for that role. I just can't see anyone else in the role of Superman. It's not just his look, it was also his screen presence and boyish charm.

Nice to see you again! I did pretty well on this banner myself. I was really only pulling for Melt as I only had 1 copy of her from her initial run, and all of her subsequent appearances since were a miss for one reason or another, and thankfully, I managed to get the 4 copies. While I hardly had trouble with her looping or her damage at NP1, there was still some awkwardness at times, but now she's way more consistent. As for the sisters, I managed to get them to NP4 in under 600 SQ. I am a bit stuck trying to level them though just because of mats; same goes for other new servants as well.

He had a real physique. No pads, no cgi, that's all Chris 🥰👍

I still think “General, would you care to step outside” is one of the greatest moments in a superhero film, and easily the best Superman movie scene. It is the absolute perfect embodiment of everything Superman represents. Reeves’ tone and crossed arms, the triumphant music, the relief of everyone around (even Luthor), Zod’s intense glare, I’m convinced no one but Reeves could’ve done it that good.
