Until you wake up in HELL like him!!! ======== An Atheist is his or her own god!!! Atheists worship their opinions as gods! See Psalm 2. God is never mocked! KING JESUS of Psalms 2 and 72 and Isaiah 2 is NOW Standing UP, and about 3 to 4 billion garbage people are about to be FLUSHED out of This WORLD!!! >>>The Sin of The so-called Christians all over The World and for donkey years simply tied God's HANDS to act on behalf of the impostors who have all their feet in Satan and their lip-service in God. (Matthew 7:21). BUT by GRACE Alone, see HIS BLESSING Upon Me! This is WHAT's About To Happen! Millions of so-called Pastors or Ministers will be among the Dead. ENOUGH Is ENOUGH!!! ===================== >>>Worldwide Reign of Christianity is Here! Psalm72 KING JESUS is here. It will happen through HIS Incarnate. HE will implement The HEART Of GOD in Isaiah 2, 11, 49, 59, 65; Jeremiah 1:10; Zephaniah 2:11; Ezekiel 36-37 for Me; Psalms 2 and 72, Haggai to Zechariah 6; etc. At the early months of this period, MILLIONS of wicked people shall die and all systems (political establishments, religions of force and murder, etc) that hinder people from fleeing to JESUS shall be removed. Almost All Muslims shall flee to JESUS during this time. Meditate on the cited scriptures, especially Isaiah 2. >>This 794-year period of Psalm72 KING JESUS is a Gift to Me from DADDYGOD. Almost all Israelis now shall flee to JESUS (Become serious Christians); GREAT JESUS TEMPLE [Apostolic Christian Church Building] shall be erected at The original position of The Solomon's Temple. There will be Jesus-measure peace around The World. [Unfortunately after this time, the 🌎World shall become very decadent again, leading to The Revealing of AntiChrist and The Rest of The Book Of Revelation]. BUT For Now, The ONE-TRUE GOD is NOW STANDING Up!!! The SHOW is On!!! It's Mount-Carmel ShowDOWN at Millions of MT-Carmels in This MY 🌎WORLD! It's Mount-JESUS ⛪ CHURCH EXTRAVAGANZA! It's JesuCRACY Imperative!!! Hallelujah!

***** you are of course free to believe what you want. I would never say otherwise. Regarding reason, there is not much of the sort in any religion. Religion caters to emotions and not the intellect. Religion is used to keep people connected in groups. First very tribal and later in empires like the Roman that used christianity and later the Arab that used Islam. No news I that. The reason the bible is silent about anything and everything related to nature is, that the men who wrote the bible didn't know. When job asks god why and how all the dumb answer he gets is "where were you when I made the crocodile" etc. When they do try to depict nature they get it all wrong. The bible and the quran. Then the defence of this bronze age bs is of course to call it poetry and old wisdom. It is neither. You want to compare it to art? Fine. Just don't bring it into the public sphere and certainly not into politics. When you have numbscull republican congressmen denying climate change based on gods promise in the bible, we have a serious problem. If it was a small country the world could handle it, but this utter stupidity comes from the world's superpower and highest energy user in the world. When ignorant religious zealots can play dice with the world's future it is scary.

***** to treat religion and their books as philosophy like it almost seem you do is fine. 😊 You are right the bible is not a science book but say that to your radical co-believers. Using the "not able" to understand argument regarding the bible doesn't told up. At least not in my case. As a former christian I have read the entire bible twice and many many passages many more more times. Have you read the entire bible? All of OT? This god cannot wipe his own ass that is how stupid he is. NT I can give the same judgement. If you want to stay a christian don't read the bible. And then again, how do you know you are a christian? Well your parents probably brought you up that way. And in your particular branch of christianity. Religion poisons everything. But you sound like a reasonable and intelligent guy.

But you believe what you want, just don't bring it into the public sphere and not into politics. You read the bible and not the quran because you were prepped by your surroundings and upbringing and culture. Religion is just a matter of randomness.

@RUSSIAN ROBOT . It has been noted that it is your OPINION that atheism is a religion. Technically speaking, atheism is a LACK of belief in a particular deity or deities. I do not believe in Santa Clause, therefore I'm an atheist regarding dear Santa. This labeling of atheists as religious by theists of late is simply a tactic to go on the offensive with regards to religion. It signifies a deep LACK of faith in the deluded religious person. A way to deflect self doubt and to try to blunt pointed criticism. Finally, it is a weak attempt to get the nonbeliever to doubt non belief . Non belief is NOT a close minded belief system without experience. It IS an open minded belief system without experience .

@RUSSIAN ROBOT . Some, probably more then half, nonbelievers ARE warriors for truth ! NO theists can make the same claim simply because they chose to adopt a belief system without ANY evidence to show as empirical proof. Faith is worthless and its ALL the theist has ! The theist has and will always have NOTHING ! To this day, no religion on planet Earth has ANY empirical scientific evidence to show that can be HONESTLY corroborated ! And of course, I truly wish it were otherwise, because I think heaven sounds pretty nice. I actually wouldn't mind spending eternity there. Too bad it doesn't exist ! Wishing it doesn't make it so . Now, why did YOU come to Earth ?

***** Isn't it remarkable that anytime science says, "We don't know... yet"., you folks of faith are in an absolute panic to insert your personal god. So, you don't find the science satisfying, or complete enough. Neither do scientists - that's why they keep researching. So how do you get to fill in the blanks with Allah? Why not Zeus? Why not Thor? Or Athena, or Neptune? Every one of you "faithful" (i.e. gullible) have to completely deny all of the other gods (and versions of gods) to feel good about the universe and your place in it, and has to exist in a rapidly shrinking area of scientific gaps - with each tested scientific bit of knowledge making your god smaller and smaller and smaller. How sad.

***** your first sentence is an incorrect assumption, I think. I've never heard an atheist, nor a scientist who has studied the big bang theory, say that matter is eternal and timeless. any decent scientist will say that no one knows what happened before the big bang or a few fractions of a second after it. as hitchens says in this video, atheists are always ready to admit what they don't know and that they are unnerved by religious people like you who say that they do know. I, as an atheist, know that the big bang theory is the best explanation for the origin of the universe but that it's also incomplete. perhaps it will always be incomplete, but there's a good chance it won't be. science has made a great deal of progress in revealing not only our origins as a species but the origin of our universe. it also continues to develop new technologies and medicine and so many inventions that keep improving our capabilities as a species. you may know that humans have actually set foot on the moon, and that they didn't use a holy text to develop the technology necessary to bring them there and bring them back. in this regard, and in regards to understanding the origin of the universe, all holy texts are utterly useless and I challenge you to point out something in your quran that might help us to save the earth from climate change, colonize mars, find an alien lifeform or travel to another solar system. I wager that science and science alone will accomplish these things, or nothing will

Love God so your argument here (or the argument of the author you're copy-pasting) is that an event can't happen unless some other event makes it happen, and therefore that event must have had a cause, etc into infinity - this is a presumption the author puts forward, and let's roll with it even though it's an unproven presumption as far as I can tell. The author says that if there's an infinite chain of events, then something must have caused the Big Bang. What was it? Nobody knows, but the author says that an infinite chain of events cannot exist and has to have an ultimate beginning. Why should I agree with this? Because it can't "put on the garment of being"? Does that really mean anything or are these just flashy words that I should accept as a hand wave? Either I'm having a hard time breaking down this terminology and this is just opaque to me or this is as logically flawed as it appears to be. I honestly can't tell the difference

When science contradicts religion, the religious "leaders" are threatened, because they can no longer claim to know what they're talking about. A world without religion would be better than the one we have, if only because people will have one less thing to hate each other for.

John cherry-picks his chapters and verses. Let's take this one: "Light was among the very first things created", which glosses over the inconvenient biblical contention that the Earth had already been created in advance of light. Not to mention the sun and other stars, which had to wait for the fourth day, light coming during the first day. From where, exactly? But lets set that aside for now; it will be revisited. The same theory that John claims "confirms" his picklist items, "confirms" rather more solidly (if John is to be consistent) that the only place that elements heavier than iron can originate, is from the explosion/ collapse of a star. It may have escaped John's notice, but has not escaped mine that the earth abounds -- and clearly from the mineralisation of ancient fossils, always has done -- in elements heavier than iron. So it is fatuous to pretend that science supports a claim that the earth existed prior to the "creation" of light, because the source of the materials would not be available, at minimum, for hundreds of millions of years after the first stars formed, burned up most of their fuel, and then collapsed as supernovae. It may also have escaped John's notice, but has not escaped mine, that the source of all cosmic light (and, indirectly, the light of all burning organic materials) is stars, including our Sun. Our sun, it has also to be conceded, is the sole source of the illusion of day and night, which the writers of the Bible clearly failed to understand were not separate entities in alternation: it is always simultaneously day AND night on earth, viewed from a godlike perspective. It would have to be a god who was either stupid or drunk having decided that "the light was good" to pretend he or she went on to "separate the light from the darkness", and call the light day and the darkness night. So these inconvenient but crucial details in the account in Genesis (even forgiving all the others) provide an unimpeachable basis for the refutation of the claim that science supports the contentions in Genesis I (or for that matter, the slightly different contentions in Genesis II. Poor copy-editing?) Science may well be wrong, and usually is, before it is right, and "Big Bang cosmology" is very likely to be inaccurate and possibly plain wrong.... but it's John who's hitching his wagon to it, not me.

@RUSSIAN ROBOT I said I was close to certain. In fact, in the way that ALL religions describe their gods, no god can exist in the way that any religion has ever described, especially not the four largest religions. The issue is that I KNOW evidence contradicts the concept of a created universe. This can be observed. Edit: My point being, at this point in time, is that there is zero basis for the concept of an intelligent designer due to the *proved* self-reliance of the universe. There is no need to assume any intelligence designed any of it. We are steadily on our way to proving most of everything we know of to be completely exclusive from the need of being created, excluding clearly animal made tools, structures, etc. A god concept only introduces another mystery ontop of one's we have yet to have an answer for. It's completely unreliable.

Of course, very few had any access to books. Books or scrolls were rare, expensive things. Very few could read at all. Many fewer could write. Indeed some of the copyists were simply copying the letter shapes, not knowing what the letters meant! So actually, the revelation existed as stories long before it was written down. Even the gospels were stories shared in communities. The best analogy I know is that they had folk tales and added fan fiction. Some cultures can be very strict about the memorization of laws and genealogies and property ownership, all passed down orally. Not all are strict.

But they rejected the idea of a benevolent all powerful all knowing God , though not all of them . I guess you've read Candide , I agree with them , but I also reject the Darwinian version of our origins .It seems we have to know and if we don't we fill the gap with a ludicrous theory , claim the theory is scientific fact , and do a character assassination on anyone who dares to doubt it's validity . It's also the case that if your an evolution sceptic you must be a biblical creationist , also nonsense . And can I say that your science is controlled by the profit motive , unless things change it will bring about our extinction , not our advancement .

if one were to try to discuss morals in a systematic way, the first step is to define your criteria for evaluation. for example, we evaluate scientific theories based on their predictive value. the more accurate predictions a theory can make, the better a theory is. one possibility for a rubric for evaluating morality is the increase or decrease in the suffering of OTHERS caused by a persons action. its certainly not the only criteria, but its one worth looking at.
