I just saw "Django Unchained" (after I saw "Inglorious Basterds" of course) and this man he just simply devours both filmes in each scene he appears. I mean how many actors have you seen speaking English, French, German and Italian in one single movie? And all of them fluently? Christoph, you're just incredible. You killed in both films and these 2 well deserved Oscars are the perfect proof of your genius.

@gabrielgarcia437

Revisisland241000 inglorious basterds was one of his best performances ever. He portrayed his character so well and every seen he was in he completely stole the spotlight, the movie almost started to revolve around him. His mere presence when appearing in a scene changes the entire motion of the film. In my opinion he carried the film. Now in django he had the spotlight then when leo came in his character slowly died down and leo became the center of attention. Mainly due to all the tension surrounding that character. But nonetheless between him and leo i feel he had the better performance although i do think it was close.
@snipperwhapper
9 жыл бұрын
Revisisland241000 It was given to him becasue he truly did not give the best performance that year? What does THAT mean?
@gabrielgarcia437
9 жыл бұрын
Revisisland241000 well yea but thats mainly because of the script and the roles they played. When leo was on screen he was acting not anyone else. He was the spotlight cause it was supposed to be that way for the film. Think about this. What if their roles were reversed. When they were introducing chris' character then he was taking over the film. Throughout the beggining of the film until the middle chris was the star. Once after jamie foxx and chris teamed up then they were both given equal attention. Once leo came out then the entire film revolving around him. Remeber Its not only the acting but its also the screen time and attention the actor is given.

its a huge factor that u can express yourself much better in german language. For example for one word in english we have sometimes up to 5 words in german for, which all include more details depending on what u are trying to say. So if u know english vocabulary and u are not a dumb german or austrian person u will always watchout for a expression that comes close to german one. Ofc its still not perfect! We all need a lot more words in our language to describe some feelings or things. Whatever iam proud of Christoph Waltz and what he achieved and will achieve in big america!

Some people liked Inglourious Basterds (like myself), some didn't, but everybody liked Christopher Waltz as Landa. By the way - that's acting, people. Some of those super famous actors are capable of acting out some emotions pretty dar well, have a couple of great scenes in most of their movies, but acting is when every seccond of your performance is commited to that character - every tiny facial expression, posture, every seccond of your voice. That's what I saw in Inglourious Basterds and Christoph Waltz seems to aim for this every movie.

First of all, this is a no brainer. It's Darth Vader. Secondly. If anyone could point me in the direction of how Q.T. found C. Waltz, I would be very grateful. That performance was beyond great. Where has he been hiding (from the world that is). I know he is a much lauded actor in certain portions of Europe but a gem like Chris has to be shared with others. And what an incredibly brilliant, thoughtful, and intelligent speech. I though it was a very well made movie and was not at all tasteless.

TheXCore360 First of all, WHY IN THE WORLD IS IT NECESSARY TO USE FOUL LANGUAGE? You are allowed to make comments without trying to demean the other person by insulting them. People have to grow up here. It's getting ridiculous! Anyway, I was 18 years old and I was visiting relatives in Chicago when I saw the first Star Wars movie is 1977. I am now in my mid 50's, do not follow Star Wars, but I could only assume "Star Wars Fanboys" are what we use to call "groupies" in the 70's. But tell me this. Where in the world can you go, that when you play THAT MUSIC when Darth Vader is coming, that people do not recognize the character it is associated with as well as the fear it put into people a long, long time ago. Just kidding. A little tongue and cheek there.

@snipperwhapper

Revisisland241000 It was given to him becasue he truly did not give the best performance that year? What does THAT mean?
@gabrielgarcia437
I'm 100% in love with Christoph Waltz and his beautiful way of speaking.
This legend won an Oscar on his first ever nomination and won a second Oscar for his second nomination ever. Truly well deserved. This man is a gem.
The fact that Quentin Tarantino thought that he had written a character that couldn't be cast just goes to show how incredible Christoph Waltz' performance was.
I love the fact that whenever he speaks, he speaks with such wise words, and with so many detail on linguistic genious. It just blows my mind how his way of expression is alway's spot on. And to think that this is not even his mother language makes it mesmerizing.

its a huge factor that u can express yourself much better in german language.
One of the few instances where an Oscar was completely deserved. Christoph gave the performance of a lifetime in this movie.
I watched Inglourious Basterds at the theatre with my cousin. And at the very moment the film ended, I turned to him and said, "I just saw an Oscar-winning performance"; few things have I felt more certain of in my life than Waltz eventually lifting the gold man. He was unbelievable.

This actor totally captivated me and I’m so happy the Academy felt the same. His portrayal was nothing short of excellent. His speech endeared me even more. He moved so effortlessly through the many layers that made up SS Hans Lander’s personality. He didn’t act, he was a true character creator.
What a genius. Such eloquence. Such grace. Such sophistication.
Love how nervous he is and how his characters are the polar opposite. He's truly an amazing and talented actor
A very worthy winner who expressed his gratitude with great authenticity. Quite moving.
He's just one fine, humble and great actor. I would love to see him get more Oscars in the future!

Christoph Waltz was incredible!!! Amazing actor!!🎉
I’ve watched the opening questioning scene to Inglorious Bastards so many times and I must say that it is TRULY a masterpiece, in the words of Landa it is “BRAVO”, the angles, the dialogue, the acting, everything was perfect and it excites me ever time I watch it and Christoph Waltz definitely deserved the Oscar, possibly my favorite character of all time he played it so incredibly well, AMAZING

Those that didn't was because of the marketing in my opinion. Go watch the trailer, and you'll see it advertised as a movie almost exclusively about Brad Pitt and his gang of Nazi hunters. So people felt that they were mislead.

So well put. He didn’t act, he was a character creator and every moment on screen was utter magic. I go as far as saying his was the best performance ever. The opening scenes in the French country house were so outstanding I remember thinking at my first viewing I hope this guy is in more scenes, never imagining I was about to witness the best performance I’d ever seen.
Maybe Christoph Waltz secretly thought: "Ok, I'm the favorite. But, if she say 'Christopher', I won't take the risk in hearing 'Christoph'. I'm going to wait for the 'Waltz' ". That's what his reaction timing looks like.
An acceptance speech that delivered like a memorable scene in a timeless movie given by a superbly technical actor for playing one of the most memorable character ever written and brought to life in possibly the best Tarantino movie, one that will likely never be forgotten. What a moment in time this was.
0:47 is low-key one of the funniest reactions to an oscar nomination ever

Awww he's so sweet and humble. His humility just made my heart melt. I wish more actors were like him.
Just the way he speaks makes me shiver... Such a gentleman
