Merry Christmas and nice haul. Funny enough I bought another copy of Hole in the Oak as well for Christmas since it is now a hard copy. The original I have was a stable-bound zine like, supposedly some errata changes as well. Also, super jealous of that limited print Shadowdark, looks incredible.

I think there are a few limited print versions left...you might be able to snag one if you get onto the store quickly enough when they become available (January is what I heard). Merry Christmas!

I can totally relate to the third party 5E books disappointment. I wish more companies would produce books that are system agnostic. Ghostfire Gaming w/ Grim Hallow, MCDM w/ Flee, Mortals, Evil Genius Games w/ Everyday Heroes.. these are books that I would love to get, but I'm done w/ 5E. It is just not a good system. My haul this year was: Vaesen, Walking Dead, Bladerunner, and hopefully very soon my 11lb load of ShadowDark books.

This was the year I "discovered" Free League's books, and I definitely dove into those as well! Sounds like a great haul!

Adding the following favorites for 3rd party 5E: The Symbaroum 5E conversion, the OAR from Goodman Games and Rappan Athuk here. As bad as a lot of the 3rd party 5E stuff is, the bar from WoTC is not very high in quality.

@@RedMageGM The art and setting brought me into Symbaroum, and then the player-facing mechanics kept me. One thing I’ve read repeatedly is to guard against your players’ tendency for “optimization” (min-maxing), as it’s fairly easy to create overpowered and non-diagetic builds. Happy new year!

There are some great ideas in there for sure! It'd be a good setting to plunder for other games.

Your Shadowdark Premium copy has a Smythe Sewn binding. It’s made to be opened and “broken in” over time, and the binding won’t easily fail unless you really try to make it fail.

I’m amazed by that comedy rpg, being a Wodehouse fan as well. It’s kinda blowing my mind that it could be turned into an rpg experience?!? My Christmas haul was much smaller than in previous years. Now that I’m not primarily playing 5e anymore, it’s much harder to put tabletop products on my Amazon wishlist. Gotta buy my OSR stuff on my own! This year I got some DCC dice (excited to do some 0e funnels in the New Year!) and the Moldvay/Cook B/X Ominibus in print from Lulu, which is a real gem.

I know, right?! I'm excited to see how it ends up playing - if it's even remotely in the right space, I'll be psyched! Sounds like a good selection! Those DCC dice are awesome - I had a set ages ago that got misplaced. Last year at Adepticon I bought a new one (I didn't know that they glowed in the dark until I accidently left them on my bedside table and turned off the lamp :D )

Mazes and Brancalonia seem interesting and definitely would add interesting bits to my games.
