One of Singapore’s most popular precincts and a world-class lifestyle destination for avid shoppers and discerning visitors alike, Orchard Road’s buzzing atmosphere amps up as Christmas comes to town.
Now in its 40th year, Christmas on Great Street-an annual light-up that transforms Orchard Road into a festive wonderland-is slated to return in 2023, with bright lights, enchanting decorations, endless music, and holiday cheer galore. From 16 November 2023, the streets of Orchard Road is illuminated by dazzling arches of lights and enchanting decorations.
The decorations for this year emulate a "dreamy cotton candy cloud landscape," showcasing LED "clouds" in white, yellow, pink, and turquoise, as outlined in a press release from the Orchard Road Business Association.
New for this year is the inclusion of an extra Great Christmas Village, bringing the total to three of these festive villages. Additionally, there will be a Christmas countdown party held along Orchard Road
Great Christmas Villages
This year, the Great Christmas Villages will be located outside:
Shaw House, from Nov. 24
Ngee Ann City, from Dec. 8
Plaza Singapura, from Dec. 1
Additionally, Music in the Air will be bringing you carols and Christmas classics along the stretch from ION Orchard to Ngee Ann City, as well as outside Wheelock Place and Far East Shopping Centre. There will also be outdoor AR projections on the façade of Hilton Singapore Orchard. Apart from 3D projections, the display will also featureRube Goldberg machines that set off chain reactions when specific contraptions are activated.
There will also be a total of 25 glass panels along the pedestrian walkway from ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery with AR displays.
All AR displays will be switched on from Nov. 1 to Jan. 1, 2024.
Fret not if you find yourself occupied during the festive season-the lights, music and decoration linger until 2 January 2023, giving you ample time to soak in the festive mood.
