I love the way GOD loves us Christians, and the way the world is set up. You're either evil or good, you're either following JESUS CHRIST or the devil, there is nothing else other than those 2 choices. JESUS CHRIST said "i am the way, the truth and the life". 🎚️🙏🏽♥️

There is clearly a God-only defined line between predestination and free choice. I understand the staunch Calvinist tenant that basically teaches that it's predestination and nothing more yet Romans 1:20 clearly says that mankind will be, "without excuse" if/when they stand before God still in their sins. No one will be able to say, "Well? You didn't choose me!" Creation itself is enough witness to God's awesomeness and our pathetic state as fallen humans. This debate has stretched over centuries and simply cannot be understood by us - YET. Yes, predestination is clearly taught in scripture. So is "free choice". How can we rectify this conundrum? We can't - only God fully understands and one day we will, too. Meantime - beautiful message and I so love Pastor Piper! Yes, I am chosen - what wondrous grace.

@@ericjamesnewell7648 Well, besides the number of "Whoever will" statements in the New Testament (John 3:16 is the most popular one), I find Romans 1:20 to be a powerful argument for this. Pay extra attention to the last phrase: 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. (NASB1995). No one will be able to stand before God and say, "How could I have been saved when you didn't elect me?" No - there will be NO excuse. Move forward to Romans 3 and note that, "Every mouth will be stopped" (v19). Again, sinful man will have nothing to say when they meet holy God. No excuse, no backtalk, no ... not a word.

I love this and I agree that this SHOULD shock us into humility, tender mercies, kindness, etc. because of the simple fact that we did NOTHING AT ALL to earn this GREAT LOVE! Often times, however, people, thinking that they're in, get deceived into high-mindedness/arrogance and harden their hearts against those that THEY PERCEIVE as "non-elect." What the (proclaimed) church needs to get through her head is that WE DID NOTHING to deserve the mercy we've been shown. WE ONCE WALKED as those sons of disobedience, as slaves to our lustful, fleshly desires. WE DID NOT choose to come to God, we saw how wretched our sin was and cried out to God for a new heart. THE ONLY REASON we were even able to perceive how wretched our sin was is because God first made our hearts ALIVE! It is ALL grace through and through, which leads us back to the humility and meekness that the fact that He chose us ought to inspire. WE once looked *JUST* like that sinner walking down the street. WHO are WE to say who God will have mercy on? If somebody had seen ANY of us while we still had friendship with the world, they never would have been able to that WE would be saved - we looked EXACTLY like any other sinner! So then the question remains: WHO are WE to say whether God will save that person cursing people out? Who are WE to say whether he will have mercy on the person we were preaching to that rejected us? WE ARE NOTHING outside of Christ! Who are WE that we should know the workings of GOD'S mind? Only HE knows with whom he will have mercy. Our purpose is not to judge, our purpose is to magnify God's glory on this earth, and we don't do that though sideways looks or snide remarks; we do it through LOVE (1 Cor. 13:4-8). The goal of our instruction is LOVE (1 Tim. 1:5)!

In his discussion of Eph 2:5-9 John Piper says that faith is a gift of God because God made us alive. In other words, he is saying that regeneration leads to faith. But this is actually the opposite of what the Bible teaches. In Scripture, faith leads to regeneration. For example, in John 5:40 Jesus criticises the Jews, saying: 'But you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.' See here how coming to Jesus (in faith, understood) leads to having life. If the Jews had done what they should have, they would have come to Jesus in order to have life (i.e., to be regenerated). They wouldn't have come to Jesus because they had been given life.

Before anyone else replies, I'd like to clarify that what you've seen here and other places isn't the full picture. God's elect aren't just the people that you see proclaiming Jesus as Lord, transformed by God's grace in this very day. God's elect are the young boys robbing the corner drugstore. God's elect are the prostitutes working the busy streets. They are the abusive parents, the staunch atheists, the murderers, the drag queens, the ungrateful sons and daughters. They are the ones who are chosen by Him, as seen in Matthew 21:31.

Hello Neb. See what you think; one group will be to the praise of the glory of God's grace, and the other group will be to the praise of the glory of God's wrath and punishment against rebellion/sin. Since everything God does is good, so also would be the displays of both His mercy/grace and His wrath/judgement. I think the Bible clearly indicates that we would all, every single one of us, reject God and His ways. But God, for His name's sake, has chosen a people to be recipients of mercy and grace. Because He has chosen to do this, is He unjust for not having been merciful and gracious to absolutely everyone? What do you think friend?

The big problem with John Piper's discussion of election in this video is that he is working with an assumption that Calvinism and Arminianism are the only possible options for a Christian. Having made this assumption, he then argues (correctly) that Arminianism is mistaken, and he is left with Calvinism. I don't think Piper knows anything about Molinism, which, in my view, is far superior as a theological system of election than Calvinism. Under this system, God knows how people would freely choose to accept or reject Christ in any given set of circumstances, but God then sovereignly arranges circumstances so that people choose according to his plan. So God ordains everything that happens, but without destroying people's free will.

Hello, friend! I really like your input on this video, but I must say: God's love is not a theological system. It is sincere and organic. Just like God Himself, His love is not something to be put in a box or confined/limited to any labels! Arguing about "this theological system" or "that one" is unproductive at best and, honestly, harmful & damaging at worst!! Calvinism, Molinism, or whatever other doctrine of election is out there, the important part is that GOD is the one who makes us alive, GOD alone is good, and GOD alone knows who the elect are - whether he predestined them in the Calvinistic sense or the Molinistic sense is, frankly, irrelevant. The goal of our instruction is not to understand how God chooses those He wishes to have mercy on, the goal of our instruction is LOVE (1 Tim. 1:5, 1 Cor. 13:4-8, Philippians 2:1-4, Ephesians 4:1-3)! Don't be deceived into tribalistic divisions, my friend; I urge you - flee from such things and so walk according to the call you have received (Ephesians 4:4-6)! I love you, God bless you and give you peace!

Molinism is just Arminianism (in Particular the Damnable Heresy of "conditional election") under another name, in the same way a Pontiac G8 GXP is just a Holden Commodore HSV Clubsport under another name. It is why Molinism has been utterly condemned as Everything from "Gross Error" to "Damnable Heresy" by Multiple Reformed Churches, why?, because it, Like the Damnable Heresy of Arminianism, is an Invention of the Papacy, used to Double Down their Influence over the Accursed Lie of "free will for man" first created by Pelagian, and used by the Jesuit Spy, Arminius, to attempt to Destroy the Protestant Reformation on Behalf of his Vatican Paymasters! and I humbly call upon you in love to Repent! Go and read "the Heresy of Middle Knowledge" by the Reverend C. Matthew McMahon (a Presbyterian (RPCGA) and Neo-Puritan Brother in Christ) and it will open your eyes to just how dangerous Molinism is! it is a false gospel, because it gives glory unto the man! when man has none. "if a man ascribeth aught of his salvation to himself, then that man hath not learned Christ aright" -Martin Luther. Salvation must be taught as 100% of God with no say from man what so ever! anything else is a false gospel of Hell! You need to realize, there is no such thing as free will for man! so called free will for man is utterly unbiblical and is an invention of the Papacy! Get Yourself a King James Version, or the Geneva Study Bible, or the Bishops Bible, or the Modern English Version (for they are all uncorrupted!) and Read it, cover to cover, and you will not find even one Single Scripture that suggests man has anything even approaching free will, but many telling us that we are Doulos, Slaves!! man only has slave will, nothing more! only God has Free Will! No one else! As Christ Jesus the Lord himself tells us "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." - Luke Chapter 22 Verse 42. Remember, Christ, as God in the Flesh, God the Son, Co-Equal with God the Father (yet not Seperate Gods, but One God! see the Athanasian Creed) had Free Will, something we do not, yet even He submitted to His Will from afore the Foundation of the World, to Die upon the Cross in the Place of the Elect to put away their Sin! The Fathers will, and that alome will be done. Not our own, for we have None! We are no more free to choose than a Doulos, a Slave, had any freedom to choose, and a Doulos is all we are. A Slave and nothing more, we have No Say! and that should truly Humble you in knowing that God can do whatever He wants with you and that you have No say in the matter, and yet, if you are saved, and I deeply hope you are despite your Gross Error, that He chose, to the Good pleasure of His own Will, to Love you, and to save you through Christ Jesus, His only begotten Son, Crucified and Risen, to take away your Sin! that should truly Humble you.

@@benadriel I believe you are making a mistake. Of course, being made a live by God is key, but that doesn't mean there is no place for theological understanding too. It isn't either - or. It's both - and. The Bible, as you will well know, contains the books of Romans and Hebrews. But these books are extremely theological. The apostle Paul and the author of Hebrews go deep down into explaining how God's scheme of salvation and transformation work. So surely God wants us to understand these things. And the more we do understand them, the closer our relationship with God will be. I do agree with you to a large extent about tribal divisions within the church. There are many who go too far in excluding people and who become unreasonably hostile to other believers. But there are many ideas that Christians have that are false. All of us will believe false ideas to some extent. But the fewer our false ideas are, the closer we will be to the Lord.

Dr. Piper, you keep posting this Calvinism rubbish! This post does not hold water. You depend on that one stray "appointed to believe" verse in the book of Acts. God is not arbitrary. GRACE IS GIVEN ONLY TO THOSE WHO HUMBLE THEMSELVES (Lord Jesus in Mt18:1-3; Jn3:3-5; Apostle Peter and Apostle James). Stop skirting these verses. And i am very much bothered that you keep singing the devil's lullaby, "Thou shall surely not die." Calvinism is the "doctrine of demons" (1Tim4:1).

My friend, I think that you heard what seemed to you to be "Calvinistic rubbish" and filtered the rest of the video through that lens. If you watch the video from a view of testing every spirit (1 John 4:1) rather than from a view of confirming your presumptions, you will find much more grace to approach this without the need to claim that the enemy's song is being sung by him! The devil perverts, my friend, so be on your guard against all his deception, and place no confidence in the flesh (Philippians 3:3)!! Don't assume that you automatically watched this video from the right headspace, you would be foolish and naïve to continue thinking such a thing after reading this message to you, friend!!! I will say, I agree that this video can be taken the wrong way, but that's because it's not the whole story, not because it doesn't hold water; if you're willing to humble as you said, you'll see that it holds life!! Grace is dispensed only at God's discretion - and no one else's! He has mercy on whom he pleases. You are NOT WRONG in your assessment that grace is only given to the humble; but humility, think of it, is a fruit of the SPIRIT, not of the world! Remember that a bad tree cannot bear good fruit (Matthew 7:18). It is only if the tree is MADE good that it can bear good fruit (Matthew 12:33)! Therefore, God had to make that person's heart alive in the first place for them to even humble themselves in the first place! Do not be mistaken, I do not label myself a Calvinist, nor would I allow any other to label me as such. I, like you, am simply interested in glorifying God by living out the TRUTH based in his word! I do not dismiss the fact that we are REQUIRED to humble ourselves before the great and mighty God over everything, but I also don't let go the fact that He did, according to His word, predestine the church for His glory!! I hope this gave you some encouragement and grace! I love you, God bless you!!

@@benadriel Every single instance of choosing/predestination was IN HIM, meaning, there is an empty bus/plane with Jesus as the driver/pilot that stands for the remnant. In the fullness of time we got into the bus as each one of us is born-again. The bus standing for all of us was planned before the foundation of the world. In that sense we are predestined, but only as a remnant, corporately, not individually.
