Christian History in Turkey

When most Christians think of the Holy Land, they picture Israel. Israel is the land of the Bible. The place where Jesus was born. Where he lived, died, and rose again.
But fewer people realize that modern-day Turkey is home to rich Christian history as well. In fact, so many ancient Christian sites are located in Turkey that it has been referred to as "The Other Holy Land."
Sadly, this rich Christian history is largely unknown or unappreciated by the majority of Turkish citizens today. Turkey now is nearly 97 percent Muslim. Many of the ancient churches have been converted to mosques or museums. Locals even say that to be a Turk is to be a Muslim.
This juxtaposition between ancient faith and modern life in Turkey is troubling, but Words of Hope believes that God can begin something new among the people here. We seek to proclaim the love of Christ through radio broadcasts, and we pray that through this medium God will rebuild his church in the land where it was born.

@@KRYPTIA-mp4ol Actually Turkish people in Turkey are descendants of ancient anatolian people ( hitties, lydians, luwians, trojans, phrygians and many more ) these prople were there before the greeks and armenians. After the arrival of the greeks and macedonian empire they were hellenized and started to speak greek, and with the arrival of romans they became romans and spoke latin. And later on they converted to christianity. And they stayed as Christian during the Byzantine Empire. But after the arrival of Turkic tribes, they had no choice but the join them. They changed their names to turkish names and start speaking turkish. But most of them converted later on. Ottoman empire was mostly christian. Only %3 of turkish population have central asia dna. And it's very low. Like around %1 and %3 percent. As you know, they don't look central asian. They even have more greek dna and italian dna than turkic dna. The only thing turkic about them is their language. Not ethnicity. They are mostly native anatolians mixed with greek blood. Also a lot of them have italian dna too. Sorry, english is not my native language. Forgive me if I made a mistake.

I could never understand why Muslims don't accept Jesus as the son of God. They believe in the virgin birth of Christ....So if Christ had no Father, then the only being capable of creating life from nothing is God/Allah. They also believe Christ is the word of God, and where does the word of God proceed from? That's right! From God himself! The strong connection Jesus has with Allah/God is extremely evident, and that to deny His Holiness is to deny God himself. God bless the wonderful people of Turkey. 📿 🙏👑

Jesus (Isa) and Mary (Meryem) are mentioned in the Quran. In bringing Christianity toTurkey, I hope the emphasis is on the Eastern Assyrian tradition, rather than the Western Latin one, and the Bible translation by George Lamsa from Aramaic, rather than the standard English Bible in general use.. Afterwards they started an offensive to liberate all Anatolian Greeks from Turkish rule and almost reached Ankara during the Greco-Turkish war. The Greeks lost than many battles against the Turks and had to retreat. When the Turks reached Izmir on 9.9.1922 they plundered and massacred the christian population as an action of revenge. In 12.9.1922 the burning of christian districts (greek and armenian districts) started. The Greeks and Armenians had to flee from the city because they had no home and weren't save. On 24.9.1922 ships of the greek navy picked up the survivors of this catastrophe. The Turks won the war and gained lost territories back. Later on the Lausanne Treaty was passed defining a population exchange and it also defined the current borders eventhough Turkey nowadays doesn't accept them.
