Christian couple married despite groom’s traumatic brain injury. - Ian and Larissa Murphy's story

They met in college, starting dating, and fell in love. 10 months later, while on his way to work to earn money for a ring, Ian’s car slammed under an SUV. Along with part of his brain, it took the plans that they had made and left them with a brain injury.
But then came eight twenty eight.
“…And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
God held them. Their wedding day was August 28th, made official four years after the accident.
Interview with 100 Huntley Street's Moira Brown originally aired in 2014.

Larissa credits her faith for keeping them together after the accident. "This probably sounds really cheesy, but I just love him and he's my best friend. It goes without saying that we have a belief in God that is bigger than us. I know we're fine because God is holding us," she said. "We want people in similar situations to know that they aren't alone and there is a good God. Jesus is the way to have eternal life - you can live through [tough] situations with hope that there is something after this."

828 means something to me also. On August 28, 2015 my then 17 year old son was nearly killed in a car crash. Like Ian, He also suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. I hope one day my Nathan will find someone to love him too. I pray God will help him to lead a normal, fulfilling life. ✝️

I would like to congratulate Ian and Larissa on their two young children mentioned in the attached article. God has blessed the whole family with an abundance of living out 1 Corinthians 13 (love). The end of the chapter says For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known...And now abideth faith, hope and charity (love), these three; but the greatest of these is charity (love). Thank God for his blessing in bringing two beautiful children to bring new life into this couple's life to expand the love they have for each other. Thank God for his blessings bringing new hope into situations the devil sets up to destroy us. Thank God for his mercies even in the midst of our sufferings. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says (in response to Paul's thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet him) that the Lord said My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak then I am strong. I see Christ's strength shining through both Ian and Larissa. God bless both of them and their whole family and may he bring healing to Ian.
