Christchurch Then & Now

Our memories of Christchurch are important so for the quake anniversary we've collated film with 'before and after' scenes from around the city - the footage tells a story of a changed landscape, which is continuing to evolve.
What are your memories of the places you see in this footage?
Me mahara tonu tātou i tō tātou taone, nō reira ko te rū te kaupapa o ēnei kiriata o mua, o ināianei, huri noa i te taone - tirohia te rerekē o te takoto o te whenua, haere ake nei. He aha ō maharatanga mō ngā wāhi kei te kitea e koe?

1:59 the Bridge of Rememberance ... with a Hugo Boss store in the background. Hugo Boss, the official designer and supplier of uniforms to Nazi Germany. What strange world we live in...

The amount of cyclists is amazing and inspirational. Or is this because now Christchurch is a ring of suburban big box stores?

And the amount of trams. Light rail for urban commuters is not a new idea. I think the city founders had good plans for Christchurch.

Some of the historic buildings seen here are still standing, although possibly rebuilt.
