"Promises ’Tis the Creator who gives life to human beings He’s the one who laid for them the path of tradition This path can lead you to obtaining the Fa and returning to heaven, washing you clean Losing tradition, you’ll lose humanity Modern notions are like a deep ditch filled with mud The red demon ordered the spreading of atheism and evolution Most people are Gods descended to Earth, having made promises to the Creator Obtain the Fa to cultivate, remake your divine bodies-therein lies your glory As you’ve promised to save the beings in your heavenly kingdom February 26, 2018" Master Li Hongzhi (Hong Yin VI, from Falun Dafa teachings)

@@Bakarost What do you mean, the hymn structure? We do a bunch of these in my parish (Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Greek, etc.), & they all seem to have the same structure: the same as this one, I think. Maybe it's just the melody you don't like. But how could an American folk style melody not have a protestant style?

@@Bakarost Humbly, I'd like to point out that Orthodoxy adapts to the people everywhere it goes. The Church baptises local customs and culture and does not dismiss them in a puritan iconoclastic manner. We share in people's ways, when those ways are proper and fit to be adapted to the Church. Look at Orthodox totem poles for example. That's just one example of very many.

Orthodox chants in english have never appealed to me. But this 'Folk style' has developed over centuries and in english. It is endemic to our country and I believe, to our hearts.

English is a much finer spoken language than a musical one, as its particular vowel and consonant pronunciations when sung become harsh and easily fall out of key. That being said, I think this example is a beautiful melding of nationality, culture, and ancient faith. I believe God finds great delight in the varied idiosyncracies of cultures and nationalities across the globe singing their praise to Him. I don't think He would have it any other way. I just hope more people come to realize the glory of all our differences, when united in God's purpose, create a harmony that speaks to His awesome power and creativity. God is great

Only the other day i saw a video made in a small town in Russia, with a beautiful church building in the background, featuring RUSSIAN singers in traditional dress singing this song with charm and delight.. The word Appalachian was in the title if you wish to search for it.. I smile again as i think about it.

There is something intriguing but wonderful about the United States, it is the origin of both the extreme of perversity but also outside of traditional Orthodox countries it is the best place to be Orthodox, there are just so many parishes, there are seminaries, monasteries and so on. Here in Brazil we do not have such "luxury", I consider a miracle that, at least for the moment, I ended up living in a city where there is a community which allowed me to be received in the Church recently. Beautiful chant

I think Sacred Harp and shape notes could adapt quite naturally to our LIturgy. I wish more people were making an effort to arrange settings along those lines. It's depressing to see them resorting to masks and hand booze. By now I suppose they know about the Greek bishop who caught on fire spontaneously when he attempted to distribute the Holy Gifts while wearing a mask and repented of it.

And it is worth ordering from the priest in the church to read the akathist for your name of St. Cyprian and St. Justine and of St. Archangel Michael against magic and all enemies visible and unvisible. This is if you are baptized Orthodox. There always were sorcerers even after Jesus said it is from devil they remained in every country and on every second or third family something is put from a sorcerer. And when you intend to go to command the akathist in the church, such thoughts may appear: "Maybe tomorrow, or next week", "Maybe I'm such a freak and no one is watching me (girls or boys, if you can not anyways find a pair, or you can for some reason speak only with one girl or boy.)", "The life is this way with good times and bad times", " I am so (if you have impotence)". etc. These thoughts come from demons from sorcery spells because only the prayer of the priest can 100% protect from magic and enemies visible and invisible. Jesus Christ told the apostles(which are the first priests) "I give you the right to untie everything that is tied in heaven and on earth.". Faith and creed is opinion, is how somebody thinks with his head. Repent is changing and not auto-humiliation as many think. May be enherited soul ilnessses like despresia, schizofrenia, Tourette sindrom, insomnia, bifurcation of personality etc. as they are from soul illnesses. Firstly everyone must to eradicate schizofrenia, depression etc. from him and after that to planify making children, in order that they will not jump from balconie, have blood cancer, be born bodytobody joined twins or two headed and etc. These soul illnesses can be healed by eucharisty. In the afternoon before eucharist day you have to read " The prayers before eucharisty" where are asked from eucharisty such things like: soul and body healing, sins forgiveness, protection from devils etc. It is better to go to confession in the morning in the day of eucharisty (before eucharisty)because from evening to morning everyone can make the same sins again and again and also other bigger sins. If not to forgive someone who asked for forgiveness it is not worth going to eucharisty because the sins will not be forgiven. Humbleness is awareness that in every doing you can fall and not auto-oppresion as most do and think, someone without auto-oppression is 100% free in moves in every direction, it is like a lion at freedom. Entering (submersion 3 times with a certain prayer and crossing yourself) in water springs of orthodox saints (which are near or in monasteries)give very much power and sureness to people with depression, panic attacks, schizofrenia and other soul illnesses, there are some springs of mother of God Maria that even heal soul illnesses

Awesome rituals to overwhelm and impress the ignorant and superstitious, scare and terrify the gullible and weak minded. Using the co kept of sin to coerce the flock into obeying the church and it's legion of frocked frauds and give their hard earned money and submit to ridiculous myths through guilt and fear of eternal damnation. Religion is politics--the craving of power and control over people; and politics religious, causing people to worship some cult figure with religious conviction without any critical thinking.
