We dropped in on Chris Turner (Oceans Ate Alaska, I Am Abomination) in the studio to hear just how far he’ll go to get the sound he wants.

(Apologies to Chris Turner fans out there for the limited camera angles. We were careful not to get too in the way of Chris tracking through his grueling sessions. We did, however, manage to snag the take of Heir to the Throne that they ended up using for the album. Full video of that coming soon!)

I remember seeing OAA play in Glasgow a while back - and I got talking to Chris and said "Yo, is that Holy China meant to be oval shaped?" He says "Nah, I go through an entire cymbal set every 3 shows." Entire cymbal set... Every. Three. Shows.

Any amount of muscle usage is tension. A relaxed muscle doesn't move.
Plot twist: he had triggers surgically implanted in his calfs.....
So addicted to Chris’ drum vids. Would love him to do a setup and sound video explaining a bit more about how he gets his sound and his drum and pedals set up

TorpedoPants Gaming It can help when your technique relies on mainly thighs and your whole legs. There are many other ways to achieve speed though. For instance search up swivel technique.
