I think the secret to Chris Thile is that his favorite song is either the one he just played or the one he’s about to.

Haha true
Not long after this Chris Thile left the atmosphere and us earthlings haven’t seen him since
These guys are Maestros! Fine pickin' never goes out of style, kept alive by musos like this.
Oh wow, this is absolute gold. I'm so fascinated by Chris's lyrical lines - they just feel wider in range/contour than your average player and there's really something unique in his notes choices, its kind of bluesy but also kind of delicate- at some point I'd love to really slow them down and dig in to what he was doing during this time period.
This should be an album!
This is such a crazy find, thanks for posting man they're shredding on those dawg tunes
Wow, what a treasure!
Wow! What a masterclass in jamming !
Wow....! Insanely Nice ! You Cat's Rock ! Like I said .....Wow ! 🤘😎
I can guarantee i will personally set the (Most "replayed" watched part) on this video at 52:05 here when it generates in the next couple weeks. Ive listed to that first banjo break well over 100x, teaching myself it.

Happy to have finally seen you play cousin. Impressive. Sorry we missed you our trip home. Congratulations to T. Sams on his fine accomplishments in instrument building.

Well said!
Top tier
Thile may be the best musician and mando player alive today. Comfortable playing anything; Bach, blues, swing bluegrass.
Super cool footage!
awesome footage!
More more more! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think i had those cleats for football back in elementary school
I wish so badly this could have studio mic sound
So many notes, so much hair
To bad they didn't have a chair in the building! Two of my favorites. Chris is still great but spaced out way more than in this time.
Did his version of prairie home survive? I miss the show. After Garrison got fired it was never the same.
48:27 is a Charlie Parker tune called Mohawk!

@@MrEmperorBlack It's www.youtube.com/@tsamsinstruments who deserves the credit for being in the right place at the right time (around 3 AM, apparently) and having the presence of mind and necessary equipment on-hand to capture the moment. This was before you could make a recording like this with a cell phone. My part was to keep track of the file all these years.
That's a Sams mandolin? Chris gave it a workout

@@fatherchangstein7349 I have to confess that i modified my opinion after the first "song". Nevertheless : i am not a friend of redundant high speed masturbation without real expression. In addition, as a singer, instrumental music bores me often quite quickly except when dancing. This is, of course, a highly subjective opinion. But thank you for reacting to my provocation !
