His voice reminds me of Joe Cocker's. Cool story: when my dad was a professional musician, he met Joe Cocker and accidentally spilled a beer on him backstage at my dad's show! 😂 Joe laughed it off and they spent hours jamming together. He is one of my dad's heroes, so getting to meet him, let alone jam with him, was one of his proudest moments. ❤
For someone with such an amazingly powerful voice, he could have easily overdone this performance but instead he dialed it back and gave the song the respect it deserved. Beautiful!!

@@smtbigelow you didn’t understand what I said. I love the star spangled banner, I stand up for it and put my hand over my heart for it, cry every time I hear it, my family has fought for this country since the revolutionary war. What I’m saying is, he turned it into his own song, something unique, made it understandable in that you can understand the story of the actual words. It’s not cookie cutter and for THAT and the emotion behind it, I could listen to his version all day.
Not a country fan and honestly had never heard any Chris Stapleton songs, however, this absolutely blew me away and had me in tears by the end.

I just freakin cried again lol for those 3 minutes I felt so American and proud! He was more patriotic than I have seen in years! Now let’s talk about how much that voice can just touch you! I’ve seen it at least 30 times from reactors and he still gets me in my patriotic heart! This IS the BEST version EVER!

@@elizabitty213 Thank you! My grandfather remained very separate from us when wars were discussed and before he passed, was the first time we only heard of the horrors he saw. My brother boarded a flight for Norfolk, VA standing a proud almost 7 ft you man to return in a pine box a year later. When I questioned him before he left why, his only response to me was so "that my daughter and his future children" could live free. Such powerful words from one who never got to see what his service meant.

Most people try to over sing.. too many runs.. Chris.. just went out, used his voice and kept it simple and was making grown men cry. I was one of them.
He did an amazing job !!! That voice is one in a million !! The chills he gives me with that soulful grit is unreal !!!
It's exceptionally rare that I make it through "The Star Spangled Banner" without mopping my eyes and gulping hard. And seeing that man with a tear rolling down his cheek didn't help. Goosebumps! Thanks for this!
If I had to listen to nothing besides Chris Stapleton for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t be mad. I’m going to see him in July!
I’m Canadian and that was the most moving national anthem I have ever heard. Respect to my American cousins and to Chris Stapleton.
He should be the halftime entertainment. I bet it would set records! 💯

Chris definitely had that Soul style coming through strong, loved it. Some people who do this song are just performing, but some really feel the power of what they are singing and make it special. Chris did this and so did Whitney back in the day. And that is why we remember these renditions of our anthem more than others.
This performance was the ONLY part of the superbowl I watched. Glad I caught it before I went out to my greenhouse. I didn't really care which team won and I had plants to take care of. I've seen him in concert several times and he never disappoints!!
Best. Anthem. Ever. Period.
How do so many reactors not catch that goosebump-causing vocal run during "gallantly streaming". That hits such a certain way...showing those skills without overpowering the anthem like so many do. But, nice reaction..glad to see some patriotic people out here
I get chills every time I see/hear this. The all woman flyover really is special.
His voice is so soulful. It immediately hits you in the feels and you just want to close your eyes and absorb it! Omg he’s so good!
America....we are all America...Black ,White Brown, Yellow...it is time we all stand together. God Bless U America each and every one of u
The soul he brings is so heartfelt. You can tell he feels every word! ❤️❤️

Chris Stapleton. A man and his guitar. Sometimes I Cry (Bing Lounge) and What Are You Listening To (92.5 WXTU) The depth of his skill and commitment to being the best he can be on full display.
one of the best and not over vocalized performances of the anthem
He brought meaning and feeling to the words. And to know why the flag was still flying….
I loved y'all's reaction to Chris's performance. This is by far my favorite performance of the National Anthem ever. Check out Chris singing " You Should Probably Leave". It's Badass, just like Chris is.
Is Chris not channeling a little of the late great and legendary Ray Charles in this?? Man just dripping with soul... So so good. Top 5 anthems of all time, easily.
As a Brit and long time sub, and lover of all things America. this had me in tears. God bless the Great Britain and the United States of America🇬🇧💙🇺🇸
He made me really visualize what it must have been like to me watching the Flag in the war
It's now my favorite. And I love how for the first time in American history it was all women flying the fighter jets.
I was born in Scotland and stayed in Scotland my whole life, but after this performance, I've never been so proud to be an American🫡❤️

Who sings with a lot of Southern soul... That everybody loves
Okay, this was a triple time cryin’ song for me! 1st-CHRIS STAPLETON (that’s all I gotta say about that man!), 2nd-THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER (what else can you say, right?), 3rd--the sign language interpreter!!! My sister was born deaf 4 years before me. I’m the baby of the family and in fact, I’ll be 60 tomorrow! 😬😳😂!! I lost my sister to colon cancer in 2007, on my daughter’s 17th birthday. Long story short, they were very, very close. My daughter came home from school, and Kathy (my sister) waited for her so she could sing (sign) happy birthday to her. After that, Kalley (my daughter) went to bed around 7 pm which was extremely unusual for her and I went to check on Kathy at 10 pm that night and she was gone. Very difficult now because my daughter’s birthday is the same day I lost my sister. But Kalley says it’s a blessing so I listen to her every year. They were so close that Kalley’s first language was sign language! She also went to kindergarten bragging about how she had two moms (my husband worked overseas and Kathy lived with us). I had to explain to her (she was 5) that she needed to let people know her “other mom” was her aunt because I didn’t want people to think we were gay…NOT THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GAY PEOPLE, Kalley’s best friend is gay and he’s like a son to me (I always have to clarify that or people will go crazy on me!) 😂 Okay, maybe it wasn’t such a short story! Lol!! Great reaction guys! Love y’all!!

You guys are the most up beat and happiest couple I’ve seen in a while!! I love watching you guys,

This man can sang. He's one of my favorites and gets me everytime he sings. 🔥🔥🔥 This version made me teary eyed
I just can't get enough of the whole package. Not only can I imagine myself at the actual battle, but that it's about the freedom and sacrifice of our great nation makes me cry uncontrollably with so much love for all my brothers in arms who stood beside me and those who loved that beautiful flag enough to die for it . 🇺🇲

It’s been a minute since I enjoyed someone singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, this restored my faith in the national anthem performances! Let me just say that I love our country, so damn much! We have to be here for my our country and for one another, we have to respect one another. We are all here for the same damn purpose and I think that this sentiment has been forgotten and it hurts my heart! There has been so much shit going on lately and let me tell you I’m 53 years old throughout the decades of me growing up I’ve never seen anything like what’s going on right now with a complete divide in our country the race schism that everything it’s fucking heartwrenching
