His voice reminds me of Joe Cocker's. Cool story: when my dad was a professional musician, he met Joe Cocker and accidentally spilled a beer on him backstage at my dad's show! 😂 Joe laughed it off and they spent hours jamming together. He is one of my dad's heroes, so getting to meet him, let alone jam with him, was one of his proudest moments. ❤

@@smtbigelow you didn’t understand what I said. I love the star spangled banner, I stand up for it and put my hand over my heart for it, cry every time I hear it, my family has fought for this country since the revolutionary war. What I’m saying is, he turned it into his own song, something unique, made it understandable in that you can understand the story of the actual words. It’s not cookie cutter and for THAT and the emotion behind it, I could listen to his version all day.

Chris definitely had that Soul style coming through strong, loved it. Some people who do this song are just performing, but some really feel the power of what they are singing and make it special. Chris did this and so did Whitney back in the day. And that is why we remember these renditions of our anthem more than others.

Okay, this was a triple time cryin’ song for me! 1st-CHRIS STAPLETON (that’s all I gotta say about that man!), 2nd-THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER (what else can you say, right?), 3rd--the sign language interpreter!!! My sister was born deaf 4 years before me. I’m the baby of the family and in fact, I’ll be 60 tomorrow! 😬😳😂!! I lost my sister to colon cancer in 2007, on my daughter’s 17th birthday. Long story short, they were very, very close. My daughter came home from school, and Kathy (my sister) waited for her so she could sing (sign) happy birthday to her. After that, Kalley (my daughter) went to bed around 7 pm which was extremely unusual for her and I went to check on Kathy at 10 pm that night and she was gone. Very difficult now because my daughter’s birthday is the same day I lost my sister. But Kalley says it’s a blessing so I listen to her every year. They were so close that Kalley’s first language was sign language! She also went to kindergarten bragging about how she had two moms (my husband worked overseas and Kathy lived with us). I had to explain to her (she was 5) that she needed to let people know her “other mom” was her aunt because I didn’t want people to think we were gay…NOT THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GAY PEOPLE, Kalley’s best friend is gay and he’s like a son to me (I always have to clarify that or people will go crazy on me!) 😂 Okay, maybe it wasn’t such a short story! Lol!! Great reaction guys! Love y’all!!

I just can't get enough of the whole package. Not only can I imagine myself at the actual battle, but that it's about the freedom and sacrifice of our great nation makes me cry uncontrollably with so much love for all my brothers in arms who stood beside me and those who loved that beautiful flag enough to die for it . 🇺🇲

It’s been a minute since I enjoyed someone singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, this restored my faith in the national anthem performances! Let me just say that I love our country, so damn much! We have to be here for my our country and for one another, we have to respect one another. We are all here for the same damn purpose and I think that this sentiment has been forgotten and it hurts my heart! There has been so much shit going on lately and let me tell you I’m 53 years old throughout the decades of me growing up I’ve never seen anything like what’s going on right now with a complete divide in our country the race schism that everything it’s fucking heartwrenching
