This is one of my favorite LIV video's and I come back to watch occasionally. The one thing that does not get enough credit is most of Stapleton's songs is the role his wife plays with the background vocals. She provides what is not too much, but not too little, just the perfect amount of background vocals.

You learn good music AND they begin to talk about their lives. My first son had me listen to Marilyn Manson, Hole. Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, my 2nd son to Pink Floyd/other 60’s bands, my daughter country, rap, hip hop. The last 2 catagories astounded me but the music’s good.

I have a suggestion for a song reaction. "midnight in harlem" by the Tedeschi Trucks band. the lead singer and the guitarist are married and each had their own band then brought them together and formed this band. theyre a multi racial band so everyone brings their own style. listen to the first 30 seconds and it will speak for its self. I know you get a ton of requests but i'd love to see you guys react to this and really feel this beautiful song :-)

Hey Paula, Chris’ version isn’t the original. The song was written in the early 80s and originally recorded by David Allen Coe. It has been covered by many artists since. The two most notable are George Jones and Chris Stapleton. Just thought I’d pass along the info in case you want to check out some other versions. Enjoy!

I don't think anyone with even a modicum of intelligence will actually fall for it, however.

John Goode I kinda agree with you but if you listen to some of Jason Aldean’s and Dierks Bentley’s songs like Amarillo Sky and I hold on those are really good songs and others songs by them are really good too. And I agree with you I hate some of these new pop songs that are “country”, they’re garbage but don’t disrespect these guys man. Sam Hunt and Kane Brown and some of these new singers are not true country but Jason and Dierks were real country singers man just some of they’re songs aren’t country and don’t let that change your mind on them totally because some of they’re songs are really good true country songs!

Those audio shit bombs they play on Country radio is NOT country music & it’s nice to see someone else sees it too...you want real country music you gotta start with 2 guys :Cash & Waylon,I hated country music until I heard Waylon & he totally changed the way I look at music in general, real music only needs 1 title/genre:Soul Music, cuz that’s what it is...Chris Cornell was a soul singer,Ben Harper,Rihanna,Ben from Lucero,The Band,Kurt Cobain, they just have something that is genuine ,it can’t be produced in a studio or faked cuz it’s just too real ,listen to the Temple of the Dog record & tell me it’s not soul music

Chris Stapleton is one of those country singers everyone likes. He’s one of the best pure voices in music, regardless of genre. When someone says “I like some country” they probably like Chris, Johnny Cash, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood, maybe some Garth Brooks. He’s in that top tier of country. And yes, he’s inspired by soul and gospel music, that’s why he’s got those amazing vocal runs.

king Quan : All great music is essentially soul music, call it country, rock, etc but at the end of the day it’s soul music...people call Superunknown by Soundgarden a grunge album which part of it may be but as a whole it’s a album of Soul music....his songs come from his soul & it’s undeniable
