    Considering the his protection being among the leagues worst the past two years, if Geno has the time to throw he’s one of the leagues best in terms of QBR. A massive caveat for Geno is if he has a clean pocket or not, he was light years ahead of the guys who had similar bad protection. If the line is even average he could take a big leap this year.

    Sam Howell in a stretch of the 2023 NFL season was top 10 in passing yards, passer rating, TD's, and completion %. Sam was literally playing at a high level with all the adverse factors tied in, and had a worse offensive line than Geno.

    @@Carrollavirusyes. And then ended as one of the worst qbs in the league. So all Howell is proving is that even qbs who are playing well are going to struggle when behind a bad o-line.

    Geno is very underrated on this list. He has had to deal with the worst O line the past two seasons. Completed almost 70% of his passes in '22. Solid QB that will win when that line and play calling improve.

    I’m a Seahawks fan and geno has been top 10-15 in terms of throwing the ball. Go watch against the lions in 2022 and 2023, saints in 2022, raiders in 2022, 2022 chargers, and this man looked like a top 5 QB. I feel perfectly comfortable going into 2024 with geno. Can the o-line and Defense hold up? That’s the real question. Don’t get me wrong, he might not be a super bowl QB, but can take us to the divisional or conference game if the whole team plays good.

    Hit the nail on the head with the protecting the ball aspect. If he could lower the amount of times he holds on to the ball and not throw it away to live to see another down it would make a world of a difference in his game.

    In no way shape or form should Geno be below Tua. It is almost insulting. I don’t even see Purdy above him, but I can live with that. Geno with the weapons and the OL from Miami would be on the mvp convo, and not fighting to get a contract.

    Tuan better than Geno? Maybe if every game was in Miami and its 80 degrees. Tua cannot play away from home, in the cold, or against good teams. I think last year they were 1-6 against playoff teams or teams over .500.

    I think of his flaws the only one simms was correct on is staring people down. He's actually really good at avoiding sacks compared to the pressure he faces. He's overall pretty accurate, and the only reason he was too aggressive and forced into mistakes last year was because our oline was so hobbled and the defense was so bad that he had to take those risks to try and win or stay in games.

  • @chrissnape9537
    @chrissnape9537Ай бұрын

    I feel Geno will go to the next level with a better O line. The defense should give him more chances. If we get Charbonett and K9 going will only help. I can accept this range for now, but watch him improve with Grubb. Grubb made his bones as an O line coach

  • @altoncunningham4734
    @altoncunningham4734Ай бұрын

    Geno is definitely a starting Qb in this league. That o line was brutal last season bottom 20. Looking forward to his growth this season. Although Howell is a better backup than lock I believe geno is by far a better player than Howell and can help him mature and potentially grow into a starter

  • @seahawksfan7298
    @seahawksfan7298Ай бұрын

    My biggest complaint with Geno is that he doesn't move around as much as he is capable of. And given the Seahawks o-line the last several years, that's what you've got to do to extend plays. That's why Wilson seemed so phenomenal when he played here. When he was younger, Wilson could scramble like no other, and make crazy athletic throws across his body. Now that he's older, he's lost a step and he isn't as willing to take hits like he was when he was younger (not that I blame him). Geno is still young enough, that he's quite mobile and capable of extending more plays, but he just doesn't half the time. I'm not sure if that's the result of him choosing to end plays, or if that's what Pete wanted him to do, in order to hang on to the football. If a play doesn't go as planned, Geno either takes a sack or throws it away. In at least 50% of those instances, he could have either thrown to another open man, or ran for the first down himself. I'm looking forward to see if/how his play changes under the new scheme, with a better o-line. If he plays like I know he could, he'll jump up in QB rankings, guaranteed! Side note: Wilson is also several inches shorter than Geno, so he has the advantage over Wilson, as far as ability to see the field.

    Yes. I didn't go back and rewatch every game but I definitely feel like 1) there were times he could have just run and 2) the sacks and mistakes he does make come at some of the worst times possible. I know he's not really a scrambling QB like Russ was, but if he just looked to run it a few more times in certain situations maybe we could have stayed on the field longer. Not expecting him to be Wilson running in his prime, he doesn't really have the acceleration, but he's not immobile and can definitely pick up some yards/first downs more often it feels like. And in terms of the timing (not necessarily even the quantity) of his mistakes, it just feels like it sticks out how often they have taken us out of scoring position because of so much negative yardage (and you know Pete wasn't gonna go for it on anything 3rd and long). Or mistakes in crunch time, even just going back to the first game he came in to replace Russ vs the Rams, with the int (even though Lockett slipped, not fully his fault) and then the sack (fumble?) in OT against the Steelers, 4th down (twice?) Bengals last year, and against the 9ers in the playoffs the other year etc. A lot of them were in fact game-changing coming in the second half or OT. We have so many playmakers on offense, I'm hoping Grubb can unlock the potential instead of always hamstringing our players like Pete did for so long. I feel like all of our O and Geno could put up big numbers if we get halfway decent line play.

    Why would we avoid doing some of what Geno does best so consistently? (e.g. throwing over the middle of the field... which we did at the 32nd rate for 2 years in a row.) Huh??? Also, our D played the equivalent of one and half more GAMES than SF last season because we couldn't stop anyone on 3rd downs. We were too predictable and I am excited to see what Geno can do in a new era of play-calling. LFG Hawks!!!

  • @kieronmckay4276
    @kieronmckay4276Ай бұрын

    My only problem with Geno is that even when the pocket wasn’t collapsing immediately, as Chris said there were missed reads, and some of those were even wide open TDs. I forgive him for the bad passes and struggling with a beat up patchwork line, I cringe when a game winner is missed. But he is more than good enough to take a team deep in the playoffs, he just needs the line who can run and pass protect and the framework. Hopefully he gets it, cause I want the guy to show the league how good he is. Teams the last 2 seasons knew just blitz this line and the whole team will fold, so you had blitz rates against the hawks that bordered on ridiculous and the team never had the answer. So much disrespect for this man, when New Jersey kills every QB that ever has walked through their door the last 30 years.

    Eh, seems like they already have this idea of him being a “bridge QB” rather than accurately rating what he has done the past two years and what he can do this season. I’m telling you right now, if he is healthy all season, Geno will be a 4,500 yard QB with 30 TDs and single digit INTs.
