Chris Sabin: Motor City Machine Guns reunion, AJ Styles "didn't like me at first", X Division
Ойын-сауық
Chris Sabin sits down with Chris Van Vliet from his home just outside of Detroit, MI. He talks about the Motor City Machine Guns getting back together at Slammiversary, what it took to get Alex Shelley to agree to return to Impact Wrestling, their favorite tag teams to wrestle, recovering from his third knee surgery, why he thought he wasn't ready when he won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, the fact that AJ Styles didn't like him at first, how unpredictable the Ultimate X structure was during the first match and much more!

This was easily one of my all time favorite interviews. Sabin is possibly the most underrated Great Professional Wrestlers of all time. He’s awesome with fans as well. My family had the honor of meeting him in passing a few years ago in Mt Pleasant. He didn’t hesitate to talk to us and give us a minute of his time, truly a Champion and a Sportsman. ⚡️✋👈⚡️

One of the originals boys of the division.
So Glad The Motor City Machine Guns Are back in IMPACT!
Nostalgia and his matches with Young Bucks (Generation Me) always spring to mind!
Motor City Machine guns are my favorite tag team of all time i marked tf out when they answered the open challenge
I already know the AJ Styles thing is true because I remember AJ mentioning it before. It was something about Chris coming in and AJ thought he was a young athletic good looking kid that could potentially steal, his spot but later looked at it from another perspective of Sabin could be someone who could bring more money to the company which in the long run would help everyone out.

Sadly Sabin never truly lived up to his potential like AJ did. But still an amazing career especially as a tag wrestler

Tyrone JR I’m not gonna say you’re wrong cuz it’s all subjective, but imo AJ has improved and evolved at a higher rate than Sabin has and just has more of the It factor. But again I think Sabin is badass especially thru his 05-2010 run in TNA
Awesome interview CVV. Chris Sabin was right. Every wrestling promotions are even now. Impact really stepped up their game. In addition CVV looks like Brandon Urie with that haircut.
The Guns came together in Pro Wrestling Zero1, in August of 2006. They held the NWA International Lightweight Tag Team Championship there for 590 days. That match against Dick Togo & Ikuto Hidaka is one of my favorites along with The Guns facing off against The Briscoe's in ROH in 2007, and against Jushin Liger & Ultimo Dragon in UWA Hardcore.
Been a huge fan of Chris Sabin since I first saw him wrestle in 2007. Been looking forward to this interview since I found out you did one with him
I like how the sun goes down in this interview.
Love the Machine Guns. I'm surprised these guys didn't end up in AEW. Personally, I always felt that the Guns were overall better than the Young Bucks.

Bucks are better. They have more time together and didn't had the injuries that Sabin and Shelley had. But they are two great tag teams.

This guy is one of the best pound for pound guys out there his X Division matches are legendary and The Motor City Machine Guns are one of the most exciting teams ever , it’s great to see him back in the ring!
Another fantastic interview Chris, thanks very much. Keep up the great work 👍
Sabin was always my favourite in TNA love this guy great interview Chris!

Love this interview. Sabin's always been great. Hail Sabin!
Chris - Your interviews are always good and be waiting on the next ones!!! Congrats on moving to LA . . . A wrestling fan is I!!!!
Motor City Machine Guns are my favorite tag team of all time, so I am really glad that they are back as a team and that Sabin finally recovered from his injury, so thank you Chris for this interview, hopefully there is an Alex Shelly one next
Love MCMG. My family is from detroit so I always gravitated towards them
Absolutely love him, and his insight. You can tell he's still as passionate about the business as he always has been, and you love to see it.
WOW Sabin is so humble... always been one of my fravourite wrestlers and even more so now.
Thank you Chris Van Vliet for another great interview. I just wished Chris Sabin's world championship reign in TNA/IMPACT was longer.
Great interview Chris. Thank you.

I saw the Machine Guns at a live show in lacrosse wisconsin back in the TNA days, great to see them back together doing their thing!
Fantastic interview 👏
Great interview Mr. V
MCMG were the reason I started watching Impact years ago and now they are the reason I'm watching again. Great interview as always.
Thank you for Chris! God bless and keep safe!
Hail Sabin! His theme was awesome. My favorite work of his was probably his heel work as the young cocky asshole against Jerry Lynn and Black Machismo.

Can you imagine Alex Shelley vs Alex Shelley in that match? haha
I remember getting his autograph at one of the first TNA shows in England just after MCMG started in TNA. Came across very much as he does here. Such a cool humble guy. His legacy in the x division is cemented. Anyone who participates in ultimate x is balls to the wall! and he is so consistent in everything. Shout out Chris Sabin
Seeing the machine guns in impact in 2020 just hits different in the best way possible
Chris sabin great I am really excited to see machine guns in impact gr8 interview cvv big fan
A man of few words but awesome worker. Great interview 👍
Impact wrestling just gets more hotter 🔥 MCMG really paved the way for today’s style of wrestling!! Now they’re part of that action
Sabin has always impressed me, and the Guns completely blew me away with their tag chemistry. Great to see them back.
Great as always Chris, you too Chris. I'd love for you to secure a Madison Rayne interview sometime soon.
Huge fan of Sabin, always liked the ring work of this guy..
Chris Sabin seems like an amazing guy.
Respect for mentioning Chris Benoit. I remember Sabin from the early TNA days. Great performer for sure!
Hopefully u can get Shelley on soon another great work as always chris
What an amazing, and even underrated talent! One of the best TNA Champions of all-time imo
man i love chris sabin tna original mann.... old times, good times...

Machine Guns need an AEW or WWE run before they hang it up. They're way too good to not have that
@vonVile

Two companies that would book them like crap. Khan can't even book FTR correctly and WWE would water down MCMG and humiliate them because they were stars in Impact and not WWE guys.

It amazes me that ROH went from basically the number 2 US promotion a couple years ago when they had cody and the bucks to now being like what 4th? If Impact had a better TV deal they would easily be in the conversation for #2
Many wrestlers either made their names as tag teams then becomimg singles (Hollywood Blonds, Hardy Boyz, The Rockers, Steiner Brothers), singles then briefly as tag teams without official team names before becoming singles again (almost every main eventer), or becoming a dominant tag team throughout the majority of their career (Dudley Boyz, Young Bucks). Sabin however is one of the very few talents who went from as a dominant single-run champ, to becoming dedicated to work in one of the best tag teams in pro-wrestling history. Hail, Sabin.
AMAZING RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙏
Sabin is in wwe now apart of retribution and IMPACT invasion
Early TNA days Sabin was actually kinda AJ Styles-level(back then) good.. actually believed he could've been World Champ way earlier than he had been...
I hope Sabin’s day got better when you interviewed him. Definitely not Brutus Beefcake, but...a little occupied? Anyone else notice it? Great interview, Chris V
Big fan of your show Chris, any advice to those aspiring to be a wrestling interviewer

Thanks s4xtt! My best advice is to do as many interviews as you can. Go to your local wrestling shows and start interviewing anyone that is willing to join you. Best of luck. You've got this!
need a teddy long interview next
i spoke with him at bournemouth TNA signing. such a nice guy and could easily get to AJ Styles level in WWE .
Who is the Mikey Ruckus of TNA? When the theme tune was mentioned, I thought about it haha
The Machine Guns vs Beer Money Inc series in 2010 made me fall in love with tag team wrestling. So happy to see Sabin and Shelley back together
nice
No idea he tore a THIRD acl. I remember watching Impact when he tore his first one, he was out for something like 14 months, came back and tore his 2nd acl on his FIRST MATCH BACK. Seeing him with 0 knee braces now worries me.

Chris Sabin is known for two things: pointing at his hand and AJ Styles not liking him/being a fan of his.
Now we need like teeney and don west on commentary for that nostalgia feel to tna
Next person to the interview Alex Shelley, do it Chris please brother.
Hail Sabin
Have become so jaded and burnt-out on the behaviour of male wrestlers in recent years, what with all the revelations about what so many ostensibly 'good guys' are truly like behind the curtain. However, I hold out hope that Sabin is one of the few who is still as genuinely kind and humble and decent and considerate a person as he appears to be, here in this interview and elsewhere.
You can tell Chris is a big Sabin fan! Lol A nice awkward interview! 🤣
HAIL SABIN!!! 👽
Chris van vliet For podcast Hall of Fame. You heard it here first.
I remember watching Wednesday nights on scrambler
what about his relationship with Velvet Sky? Did everyone just forget about that? Also Sabin was solo for a while in TNA as a heel..there is a lot of history missing in this interview
🖐👈 MCMG one of the best tag teams of all time 🙌
TNA, TNA, TNA!!
First time i stumbled across TNA Wrestling, circa 2007/2008 it was a match involving the MCMG's, all i could think was, wow these guys are cool and from then i really got into it, even went to some shows when they came to England, not watched impact for a few years now, i lost interest during the Dixie Carter era.
i was always hoping MCMG would get back together i kept saying every where AEW needs to sign them
My top 5 favorite tag teams 1)MCMG 2)The Wolves 3)Young Bucks 4)Lucha Bros 5)TH2 or Usos (changes from time to time) Just a little fact which no one cares about but i am still gonna share

I kinda miss the old MCMG theme
Honestly, some people are so ungrateful. Give Sabin a break. He literally came home from a 1 hour 30 minute training session to do a 1 hour long interview.

Yeah AJ didn't like Chris because he was threatened by him Chris would have been the face of the x-division if they didn't find AJ first I'm not taking anything away from AJ Styles he is the phenomenal one but Chris Sabin is probably the closest you can come to an AJ Styles but even then AJ could just do stuff nobody else could do but that's why he was threatened by Chris he knew Sabin was good
