#ChrisRea (Christopher Anton Rea, born 4 March 1951) is an English #rock and #blues singer-songwriter and guitarist. Born and raised in Middlesbrough, he is of Italian and Irish descent. He is known for his distinctive, husky singing and slide guitar playing, with the Guinness Rockopedia describing him as a "gravel-voiced guitar stalwart". After learning to play the guitar relatively late, a short burst of local band activity led to his launching a solo career in 1978.
Louder magazine calls Rea "rock's ultimate survivor", given his recovery from several bouts of serious illness. He has produced twenty-five solo albums, with several from his later blues period - such as Blue Guitars (2005) - having multiple discs. British Hit Singles & Albums says that Rea was "one of the most popular UK singer-songwriters of the late 1980s" and "already a major European star by the time he finally cracked the UK Top 10 with the release of the [1989] single "The Road to Hell (Part 2)..." his 18th chart entry." Two of his most successful studio albums, The Road to Hell (1989) and Auberge (1991), topped the UK Albums Chart. His other hit songs include "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat", "Stainsby Girls", "Josephine", "On the Beach", "Let's Dance", "Driving Home for Christmas", "Working on It", "Tell Me There's a Heaven", "Auberge", "Looking for the Summer", "Winter Song", "Nothing to Fear", "Julia", and "If You Were Me", a duet with Elton John. Rea was nominated three times for the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist: in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
Rea has never toured the United States, where he is best known for the 1978 single "Fool (If You Think It's Over)," which reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. This success earned him a Grammy nomination as Best New Artist in 1978. A decade later, Working On It topped the Mainstream Rock chart. As of 2009, Rea had sold more than 30 million records worldwide.

Почему то все восхищаются Крисом. Да, мужик талант и тд и тп!!! А команда? Я больше просмотрел на музыкантов. Это что то. Особенно барабанщик. Постановка рук и профессионализм зашкаливает. Нет слов просто. И все деды , а кайфуют от музыки. Видно что не за все деньги мира играют, а наслаждаются. КАК ТО ТАК!!!!

33 years ago my grandfather bought me a small audio player with Chris Rea's cassette as a gift for my birthday. I was 10 years old. Later I had a dream "when I grow up i will drive a car listening Chis Rea's music". Now I am 43 years old and I drive my own car and listen to Chris Rea's music while driving. Grandfarther, I don't forget you! Rest in peace

Я даже не берусь его осуждать,что он в своё время на "пробку" наступил,просто его любимая женщина с ним плохо обошлась вдалёком 85ом,но после этого он ещё больше душевных стихов написал и наложил музыку прекрасную на них,без слёз слушать не могу их. Крепкий,скромный и порядочный мужик! Таких больше не будет на эстраде по таланту и складу человека! Да! This gentleman is a fighter against all odds, great singer, guitarist, performer. A great example of never, ever giving up when all seems too hard to endure. Winners never give up, no matter what they have to face because you will always come through it.
This guy sounds great. First time I see him, and his Music seems great to me.
I grew up with Chris's music and i'm so happy he is still alive and kicking!
Wow , after 45 years of kicking cancers ass ., 9 major operations and 32 weeks in hospital , he`s still doing it ....RESPECT !

Chris Rea безусловно Великолепный исполнитель на гитаре и как певец! Как говорят в России "мастерство не пропьёшь", оно, если есть, то от Бога. И это относится к нему, Маэстро. Крису на одном из его концертов в 2017 году в Оксфорде стало плохо с сердцем.Прямо во время исполнения песни он схватился за микрофон и упал ...Концерт был остановлен а музыканта срочно отвезли в больницу. Великий артист работает на износ ...Дай Бог ему как можно долгих лет жизни !

No matter how he looks, he’s still a fighter, and a miracle he’s still alive with everything his health and life has dealt him. For that, I still love him and his contributions of joys he’s given the world. Like his “Fool” song says . If you think it’s over, for him he’s still on in my life. God Bless you always.

Having had the privilege to see/hear Chris in three concerts near my home, this gentleman is possibly the best blues and guitar artist that I have ever listened to. Yes, been at a BB King concert which was great, however, Chris from a northern town in England conveys so much more feeling for the blues and despite all his adversity and trials in life, he is still here, a brilliant entertainer, guitarist, singer and a gentleman, as his many interviews will show you. Thank you Chris Rea for enhancing my life, may you continue for many, many more years.
There’s something magical about Chris Rea’s music. I just can’t stop the amazing feeling in my soul when i listen to it. It makes you imagine wonderful sceneries and recall some of your best memories.

I've recently come back to Chris as a lockdown friend. That gravel baritone, the guitar licks playing out his pain and his joy, and his great songs and band are a real treat in the hard times as well as the good. His health struggles have really deepened his gravitas and audience connection. When you're his age and you've been through what he has, you can't just get up and sing about girls and partying - and he doesn't.
Yes, he is a legend, no one beside him, and no one over him. He has IT. 👌 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
one of the most unheralded song writers/slide guitarists of all time . and that unmistakable voice. my deceased wife absolutely loved this guy.
Don't understand much of the recent comments, but as a teenager growing up in North Yorkshire/County Durham in the mid to late 80s, Chris was an absolute local hero. Some of my proudest moments were getting his brand new albums on vinyl on the day of release (many thanks, the Record Cavern, Richmond!). Absolute respect to an outstanding musician.

In 1994, Rea was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent a life-saving operation to remove his pancreas, gallbladder, and a portion of his liver. As a result, he has type 1 diabetes. Go CHRIS GO!!

Chris Rea is a legend!! Been going for decades!! We ALL get old, unlike a lot of lost young musicians these days, who turned to alcohol and drugs killing themselves much too soon ….💙🫶🏻

The world did not. Mr. Rea is a legend since the 1980s.
It is with sadness that i believe it will be a miracle if we will see Chris Rea play live again in the future. Watching this concert You can't help but feel that this is a "Good Bye" from Chris Rea.... One can see how the effects of his stroke and other past health issues have taken its toll on his performance. He is and has been my Hero...

I totally agree. I rediscovered him around 2017 when I saw him being interviewed in itv. My mother used to play his music all the time as I was a child so when I decided to delve into his back catalog all the memories came flooding back it left me dying to see him live. Unfortunately he had his collapse around the end of the year, then he had an Interview in 2019 and apart from a few once off appearances on a motor racing program and on a British tv show he really seems to have stepped away from performing. I really hope some day I might get the chance to see him, but I too fear that those days are sadly gone.

Looking for the summer ...classic I remember seeing Chris in Newcastle when he just gigged in the club's before he really hit the big time true time hasn't been kind nor as his health but the guy is still playing for the pure enjoyment and his music is his run from it all to lose himself... driving home for Christmas is a staple Christmas classic respect to the man
