I turned 15 yrs old in 1970, it was a great time to be a teenager, except for the war in Vietnam. Stay safe and greetings from Charleston, West Virginia, USA. @@tigertiger1699 yes the WW-2 South Pacific Battles are part of our Marine Corps history. I had an Uncle in the Army who fought in the South Pacific and he said, "It tough fighting the Japanese, but you had to also fight the heat, humidity and the jungle."

@@usmc-veteran7316 Mate… I can’t imagine that Pacific is beautiful.. but as you would know from the jungle…, these place can kill you.., I’ve been to north Aussie… the ocean is nice to look at… but there is nothing hospitable in it…, the kids for Brooklyn.. you name it.., they would have be just smashed by the corps.., and landed here or Aussie??, then as our mum said.. she knew the week after they went to a dance.. those gum chewing & milk drinking boys… were likely breathing water… I knew it upset her terribly… I remember the old man saying to never underestimate just how desperate thing were…he said when the USN sailed into our capital Wellington the church bells rang across the city… Eleanor Roosevelt came to visit/ live in Aussie.. , mum said her presence .. gave woman down here belief that’s the US would not walk away and leave our nations to be overrun.. I remember he said that McArthur and the Aussie government drew a line across Aussie at Brisbane..the “Brisbane line”.. and they allies & US weren’t going to defend Aussie that laid north of it… even with the US.. they simply couldn’t.. Our nations are bound in blood and debt to us each Yet people walk around aware of the earth they walk…, but… we still have deep roots

There is no such thing as a “perfect” song but this damn near came very close. Suzi Quattro was pure genius and Chris Norman’s raspy voice was flawless. Still outstanding today as it was in the summer of ‘79.

I had my first apartment in Fort Lauderdale/Victoria Park when this song came out. Times were so much better then and people truly trusted each other. Friends were easily made and no one hated, fought and guns were Never thought about. I wish I could just go back and relive it all over again! Thanks for the glimpse back into more peaceful carefree days and Much better music.

Замуж вышла в шестнадцать лет. Муж был фанатом того времени. Я долго не могла понять, эту музыку. Но прошли годы, Муж трагически погиб 😢. Я сначала пыталась стереть все с памяти, ради жизни, ради своих детей, жить дальше. Прошло очень много лет. Дети сами родители, а я досих пор не могу забыть эту песню, нашу маленькую спальню, и маленький приёмник.
