I find it's all in his stroke. He's got such a fluent and effortless stroke. A lot like Fedor's but less mechanical somehow. A thing of beauty to watch

Melling is one of my favorite players, he moves fast. Thinks fast and always has a match that will leave a highlight. Fun to watch, but he does make silly mistakes and misses that the boring player doesn't make. But I'll always support the fun player over the boring. He makes amateur shots like a pro. If you know pool you know what I mean.

Melling playing those drag shots... always risky to have the white rolling when it contacts the object ball on these tournament tables. Notice he missed both balls thick? Nearly every other top player always plays with a bit of spin still on the cue ball at the moment of contact. As well as controlling the cue ball this breaks the static friction which can push the pot straight. Surely a player as experienced as him knows this? Are the outside tables all the same quality?

It's a racking template. There are small holes cut in it that the balls sit on. The shape and spacing of the holes causes the balls to tend to roll towards the center of the rack, which results in a rack with no gaps between the balls, leading to a better break.

JJ and Karl and many other real players are great....Yates is just terrible. Why they keep in in there is beyond my ability to comprehend!?!?!

America hasn't got more talent pmsl Commentator for real ? 😆 🤣 😂 Come to UK then with tighter pockets, bigger tables, and have to be more accurate on the cue ball position wise as well, bcos of tight pockets. Yanks chuck the cueball middle of the table, knowing you don't have to get right on the ball cos they hit the rail half way down and still go on in FFS. HES DILLOUSIONAL

uk pool tables are smaller (standard uk tables are 7ft' with some 6 footers in the league and American tables are 8, 9 or 10ft I believe), balls are smaller (hence uk pool players use snooker cues more than the 13mm American tipped pool cues) and the pockets are a lot tighter so you hit the rail on the way it ain't going in. The bigger uk tables are snooker which is an entirely different game. Which is why pro snooker players don't dominate pool comps as well. Look at Trump last year.

Here is the deal - in the Mosconi Cup it is ALL of Europe against one country - the United States. Why don't we just have America play the UK? Why don't we just have America play Germany, etc.? America has a huge amount of talent - but they don't really cultivate that talent. Jone is right, America needs to work on bringing up these really talented young players better. I think Jones comment about how the American players needing to really focus on the Mosconi Cup is also true. The European players seem to be more into the Mosconi Cup than the America players, and that should not be acceptable to America.
