Its called "automatic writing". Not uncommon among the great (and even lesser known) songwriters. That's not to diminish Chris, who to me is unfairly treated by musical elitists. The guy is a genius without a doubt. Somehow it became fashionable to malign Coldplay.

I like how he says “Ok” and goes straight into playing the most killer piano riff there is. Love this song so much

Partly because Stern show has killer audio capabilities.

None of the best song writers seem to take full credit for their songs. They seem to believe the songs already existed and they just reveal themselves to the writer.
The piano riff in this song is one of my favorites ever.

Howard Stern is such a great host. He is always asking the right questions with real curiosity and and he is genuine.
I’m not a big Coldplay fan but theyve wrote some brilliant songs over the years

Howard has the gift to ask the best questions and get the “normal person” out of every celebrity.
I remember being at a gamestop at the mall and this song and video were playing on the tv. Feels so long ago on a different planet.
