Chris never got the recognition he deserved. Some of my favorite snl skits had him in it. The dudes a legend.

I think he got just enough recognition.

Correct I thought he was great and never got the true success he deserved. I think he could've been easily a Adam Sandler type celebrity because his acting and communicability are both that good I think.

It's too bad he got the injury though.
Love Mr Peepers! Chris’ blank look with this character is priceless.
Night at the Rox is a personal favorite of mine in the SNL cannon. Legit just watched it again a week ago. Kattan's Farley-level physical comedy married to Jon Lovitz-level oddball comedic flavoring and underrated nature equals comedic gold.

I think everyone got tired of it because it was on TV 24/7. Great movie though, haven't seen it in years.

@juffurey I mean, it was near-universally loathed by critics when it released. Time has calmed people's vitriol, some have even come around to being complimentary since Will Ferrel's career took off and his entire catalogue became of note to a much larger audience. I can say for myself that I've NEVER seen it played on TV until more recently, for what I'm assuming are similar reasons, but I also did not have access to cable TV when it was new so its very possible it not only left many confused and unentertained but then outstayed what little welcome it had by HBO or Showtime.
Was looking at Chris Kattan's father's credits & I saw that his father was one of the little kids in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. That just blows me away.
Met Kattan at a comic convention a couple years ago. We took a picture and when we were to say "cheese" I said "drinky poppa". He laughed and then we talked about that sketch it was surreal!
He and Cheri Oteri are unsung heroes.
Enjoy all the SNL deep dives. Thanks Dana Spade you guys always make me smile thanks for the comedy memories. Take Care God Bless.
one of the most underrated performers on SNL in the history. very funny
Great interview! Kattan's Suel Forester Southern Lawyer is brilliant!
Chris was the lead in many skits. I love the ones where you cant really understand what he is saying: drill sergant, lawyer, substitute teacher

I've been in the deep back country south. I play them back and i can catch it. Not bragging. Just done really bad or good. I just wonder where he learned it. See he would say something like [ He lern't me ] fast and few vowels. Instead of I object your honor. It was Object'in ya on-ah. fast and loud. But I don't get Tie Tittie?
Chris in a sketch slapping and making out with with Cheri Oteri was hilarious and 🔥🔥🔥
I smile ear to ear at every podcast thx
Everyone loves the Jim Carrey Roxbury sketch, but my favorite by far is the Sylvester Stallone one. So funny! It's on KZread of course, must watch to the end.... Sylvester Stallone Dancing With the Roxbury Guys!
Suell Forester was the most original & hilarious character I've ever seen just the way he takes over the whole sketch & intimidates the other players is classic !!! Yeah & with Cheri Otari awesome thanks !!!!
Love Chris Kattan and I love pretty much every cast member on SNL….this podcast is awesome. Thanks Dana and David!
We're all wounded little clowns! Too funny!
It's great to hear from him, hearing he was hospitalized was terrible news, but it's great to see him in a podcast. I'd love to see more from him.
Chris would've been a great Gollum. I think he did a sketch with Elijah Wood where he was Frodo's roommate.
Chris Kataan is the Cheri Oteri of SNL lore. Both carried the show, many nights, but didn’t pan out on big screen as a star

This is a long list and Dana is also on it. People who clearly have mountains of talent but don't fit into the rest of hollywood. Outside of sketch comedy there isn't really a place for people who can do lots of different over the top characters. Jim Carrey and Mike Meyers have found a few options but for the most part there isn't a place for that kind of ability. Chris, to me, is right up there next to Dana for being SOOO good on the show and then having such little success once they are off the show. Maybe a vehicle like the Dana Carvey show needs to be a thing again? You could also have Rachel Dratch, Cheri Oteri, and so many others.

So much fun . When Garth Brooks met The Mango !!! So funny . Chris you were in a movie House on Haunted Hill I think and you killed it , I still steal a line from you in that where you’re demanding payment and you’re like gimme my check it’s mine no give it - to me . Ah it’s much funnier done than read in print . Thank you love you
Chris Kattan was fresh air to SNL in an era when most of the performers were quite samey. Twenty years later you still remember his bits, while most of the rest of them are forgotten...
Love you all! Have had many outbursts of hilarious laughter thanks to you guys! 😁
I love in Roxbury where Chris' character is depressed and puts shaving cream on the window cause he doesn't like what he's seeing. So damn funny. Not many people have physical comedy all their own.
What a friendly funny conversation.
Every time I try and put a top 10 favorite cast list together I always have to adjust. Kattan has to be a contender for a lot of folks!
underrated cast member in a fantastic cast. maybe the funniest cast. hilarious guy, always scored
I was just watching Mr. Peepers and Mango!🤣🤣
David, Dana & Chris show you that humility & confidence exists hand in hand!
I'd love to hear an episode just with Dana and David talk about their favorite and horrible movies that that have watched.
Chris is underrated!! Amazing talent! Corkery Romano was so funny and that's not even his best work. Legend!
Chris Kattan and Cheri Oteri in the same cast. Wow!
Great job Chris!! 🐐
I liked Kattan's Demarco Bros and his mumbling teacher skits, always cracks me up. Chris has more bangers in SNL arsenal than I remembered beyond Roxbury , Mr Peepers , Mango
Three of my favorite comic/actor/writers. Dana, I was a teen in the 90's, I played the drums, grew up watching SNL, and had multiple pets named after WW characters. The trend started with Garth and (Jan Hooks🖤) Nancy .
Fun interview time flew by. Always enjoyed Chris’ quirky sketches and parts. Keep it up, good stuff Fly
Chris is amazing. The funniest. Hollywood did him dirty, he should have been in more things, but I’m sure he’s living a fantastic life and he is so lucky to have lived the life he has! Love you Chris
Spade may be a six in Hollywood... he's a 10 in Arizona!
Chris!!!!!!😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤

David Spade and Chris Kattan??? In a podcast episode together??? In the midst of my 90s SNL actor obsession????
Why was this one so short?
Love kattan, u mentioned Marx bros buster n chaplain yall covering some ground Dana u mentioned Danny kaye n the smothers brothers loved those guys victor borga was boss too thanks to u y’all r legeneds
I am so glad they decided to use this channel again.

You are both baberham Lincolns!

Lol holy moly
I know Jim Breuer listened to this episode absolutely fuming...
Nice to hear from Chris Kattan on the podcast. Short episode, thought it ended abruptly, seemed like Kattan had more in the tank than this.
I love Jim Bruers story of Norm where he talks about Kattan and him in a twilight zone sketch. It's hilarious.
Why this so short?
Jordan Peele put some respect on Kattan's name in Nope. XD
He was one of our favorite 💯 I'd swear you guys were all in "canteen boy" episode w/ Alec Baldwin 😂😂 OMG that was HILARIOUS! -and Mango say NO!🖐️🛑😅😂
Chris doing Hercules was pretty hot. He's got the right face for that.

Have a polaroid with Kattan somewhere. Needed a better agent to take off like Ferrell did after SNL.
You guys would have so many more subs if you did video.
God, the Marx Brothers are SO underappreciated. One could make an argument that there has never been funnier people since then -- especially Harpo & Groucho. And those two had such different styles.
I may have mentioned this in one of my many other gushing fanboy comments, so allow me to add more gushing. * Carvey is tops when it comes to the impersonate Lorne game. Granted, I have heard him "do the Lorne" far more than anyone else, so there could be serious game elsewhere...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Spade gets 2nd place in the micro category. I think his whiskey rasp might be a bit tougher to shape into Lorne. * Chris Kattan and his body sacrificing physical comedy skills mined so many laughs from us back in the day. In general, Mango and Mr. Peepers are in the HOF (for me) and on the hilarious bespoke SNL character list. Along with Stuart 😀, Pat, Mary KatherineG, Toonces, etc. Another freakin' intensely entertaining podcast. I'm square in the fat part of the demo, but for folks like me this is gold. And important, in the long run, historically speaking. Barring some random catastrophe, content on the 'Tube has a very long and lucrative lifespan. It just sits there ready to go instantly for anyone, anywhere, anytime. Who needs network tv anyway? 😅
There's OBVIOUSLY so much more to David and Dana than just their looks... Otherwise, none of us would know who they are... Ahh hahaha!😂😂😂 Burn...

So disappointed they didnt ask him about Norm MacDonald after Will Ferrell's story when Norm threw away Kattan's shoe on a plane.
Fun episode but I wish you had asked him about the rivalry with Norm and Norm stealing his shoes on a plane ✈️.
Good but too short.

The silly notion that David is a 6 could only have originated from straight men. David and Dana are at least 9s in my book. Being so darn funny and smart helps but both you guys are both handsome as hell. Humility isn’t an unattractive trait though ❤️

Most underrated. You hate to use that word in the comment section, people throw words around. The cast was staaaaacked.
Only a 6 cuz u are a bit too sarcastic to be a 10😂 but we love ya David!❤
I love how Dana has no clue what "sixiest" even means. Like when your five year old calls you by your 1st name.
