Correct I thought he was great and never got the true success he deserved. I think he could've been easily a Adam Sandler type celebrity because his acting and communicability are both that good I think.

Night at the Rox is a personal favorite of mine in the SNL cannon. Legit just watched it again a week ago. Kattan's Farley-level physical comedy married to Jon Lovitz-level oddball comedic flavoring and underrated nature equals comedic gold.

I think everyone got tired of it because it was on TV 24/7. Great movie though, haven't seen it in years.

@juffurey I mean, it was near-universally loathed by critics when it released. Time has calmed people's vitriol, some have even come around to being complimentary since Will Ferrel's career took off and his entire catalogue became of note to a much larger audience. I can say for myself that I've NEVER seen it played on TV until more recently, for what I'm assuming are similar reasons, but I also did not have access to cable TV when it was new so its very possible it not only left many confused and unentertained but then outstayed what little welcome it had by HBO or Showtime.

I've been in the deep back country south. I play them back and i can catch it. Not bragging. Just done really bad or good. I just wonder where he learned it. See he would say something like [ He lern't me ] fast and few vowels. Instead of I object your honor. It was Object'in ya on-ah. fast and loud. But I don't get Tie Tittie?

This is a long list and Dana is also on it. People who clearly have mountains of talent but don't fit into the rest of hollywood. Outside of sketch comedy there isn't really a place for people who can do lots of different over the top characters. Jim Carrey and Mike Meyers have found a few options but for the most part there isn't a place for that kind of ability. Chris, to me, is right up there next to Dana for being SOOO good on the show and then having such little success once they are off the show. Maybe a vehicle like the Dana Carvey show needs to be a thing again? You could also have Rachel Dratch, Cheri Oteri, and so many others.

I may have mentioned this in one of my many other gushing fanboy comments, so allow me to add more gushing. * Carvey is tops when it comes to the impersonate Lorne game. Granted, I have heard him "do the Lorne" far more than anyone else, so there could be serious game elsewhere...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Spade gets 2nd place in the micro category. I think his whiskey rasp might be a bit tougher to shape into Lorne. * Chris Kattan and his body sacrificing physical comedy skills mined so many laughs from us back in the day. In general, Mango and Mr. Peepers are in the HOF (for me) and on the hilarious bespoke SNL character list. Along with Stuart 😀, Pat, Mary KatherineG, Toonces, etc. Another freakin' intensely entertaining podcast. I'm square in the fat part of the demo, but for folks like me this is gold. And important, in the long run, historically speaking. Barring some random catastrophe, content on the 'Tube has a very long and lucrative lifespan. It just sits there ready to go instantly for anyone, anywhere, anytime. Who needs network tv anyway? 😅
