Chris Hemsworth Interview: Extraction 2 and Why He Loves Getting Beat Up (in Movies)

Ойын-сауық

If you’re still reeling from that John Wick: Chapter 4 conclusion, then we know you’ve been gearing up for Netflix’s premiere of Extraction 2. Starring Chris Hemsworth in the sequel, mercenary Tyler Rake is back under the pen of Joe Russo (Anthony Russo serves as producer) and the direction of former stuntman Sam Hargrave. In a sit-down with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, they react to early audience reactions and dig into why this universe is one you don’t want to miss out on.
Like Hemsworth, fans thought Rake was “done and dusted” at the end of Extraction, but when Hargrave and the action star considered where a legendary hero like Tyler Rake could go, the potential for a heart-pounding franchise was right there. With a collaboration between Marvel’s Thor, a stunt man-turned-director, and the Russo Brothers, the 21-minute oner nearly wrote itself. So Extraction 2 brings back fan-favorites Golshifteh Farahani as Nik, Adam Bessa as Yaz and introduces Idris Elba to the mix, sending them to a frozen prison in Eastern Europe to rescue a battered family from a merciless gangster.
While the sequel does provide audiences with gratifying “gladiatorial” kills, as discussed in their interview, which you can watch or read below, Hargrave shares with Weintraub why these movies are as satisfying as they are, and why the payoff of the absolutely insane action sequences is well-earned. The duo pinpoint what it is about Hemsworth as Tyler Rake that is so effective and why he resonates with audiences, what it is that lends “integrity and truth” to action films, which scene was the most challenging to pull off, and how Hemsworth is always willing to have his character beat up on screen. Read on for what Hemsworth and Hargrave have to say about Transformers One and if there’s an Extraction 3 in our future.

Sam seems like that guy who would never back stab a friend , whos a true friend through thick and thin. They definitely have a bromance going.

Chad Stahelski & Keanu Reeves might revolutionized modern action movies, but Sam Hargrave & Chris Hemsworth are their best students

Okay so we know stuntmen make good action movies. It should be the turn for some stuntwomen now to show the World what they can do as directors.

I kinda get how press junkets and marketing activities can sometimes get even MORE tiring than making the film itself. Especially dealing with the same stupid questions over and over and over and has to remain "excited" and whatnot.

This movie brought out the inner savage in me. At the end the villain has no heart no conscience, threatening the boy's life, and Tyler's. I was yelling at my screen "KILL HIM! 👿" (The villain) kinda crazy now that I think about it 😂 But that's what the movie brought out in me. Even a certain character's demise got me good and connected with a certain related character as I lost a cousin who was like a brother to me. Great film 10 outta 10 would see again.
