Some people in the comments are saying it’s race swapping. How is this race swapping? They are literally two different characters. Sam was conditioned to be the new cap. His character has taken up the shield. It is what it is. Gotta let go of the first three phases.

This happens in the comics, I think some poeple our overly obsessed with the first 6 original MCU Avengers and can't see anyone else doing it. Which seem ridiculous because there are so many other characters to draw from the comics. I hope no losses their mind when Miles morales becomes spiderman somewhere down the line.

There was already spidey hate when Andrew Garfield took over the role…in addition to changes to the demeanour of peter. Chris evans nailed Cap and has carried the role for over 10 years. Of course people dont wanna risk it being worse. Personally. I don’t like how falcon is personality wise . Him being the new cap jjst doesn’t interest me. I’m more interested in seeing entirely new marvel heroes rather than recast old ones

To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of having Sam Wilson be Captain America, as I like him better as Falcon, and I think Captain America should’ve been retired. It has nothing to do with his race, I just feel like it’s better to have him grow as his own character, but I’ll definitely give it a chance before judging. (And yes, I’m aware he became Cap in the comics at one point)

He is black in the comics and was captain America several times several timelines

Honestly I just find it weird that people are this upset. It's fictional chacters. And all the people who are just like I am not being racist just sound dumb. The Steve captain America plot is done and it was good. But just like in the comics they decided to give falcon the title of captain America, which they could have done better but Steve giving it to falcon makes more sense for captain America to be human and not a super soldier like bucky. I do think bucky can just have his own movie by himself to tell his story and giving him title as captain America would be taking away from the main idea of bucky being someone who still has to deal with what he did under mind control. Hopefully falcon and bucky share the title at the end of the 4th movie because they need each other.

Chris Evans filled the shoes of Capt so well, it's hard to imagine anyone else doing it. At one point, i was hoping Sebastian Stan's Barnes would step in as a little rougher Capt, but they went a different way. However...Anthony Mackie is an excellent actor, and the Falcon character has room to grow. I know I'll be there to see it!

It is not racist to want Chris Evans to be Captain America. I'm sure some people are motivated by racism, but some people just loved Chris Evans as Captain America. People who just blanket racism as an excuse over everything are blinding themselves. Same with Reva from Obi Wan. I didn't like the character. But oh no, everyone is racist. I like Anthony Mackie a lot and I'm willing to give him a chance as Cap, but as of right now, he just can't touch Chris Evans as Cap. It does not have to be a race thing. Maybe the movies will build on Mackie's Cap and make him better. I'm all for it.

Why is it that if fans don’t like something it’s automatically assumed that they’re either racist, sexist, or trolling? I never cared about Falcon, most people didn’t. He’s a side character with barely any development or screentime. If anything Bucky was more built up to take the shield but he didn’t because of obvious reasons. We don’t need a cap anymore they could easily have captain marvel take that leadership spot. It has nothing to do with racism, though I’m sure there ARE racist upset about it- Pretty sure the majority just don’t really care. There’s no interest in Falcon.

You have known Mackie for so long and there is narrative as in story reasons. Also there has been comic book precedence. I’d say it’s is racism, a fear of change, and an unwillingness to accept that there is story progression. Y’all need to give it a chance this is why people use negative terms like calling you babies because you can’t let the past go. Let it go and try new things. Unless of course you take a non- white role and swap them for a white or voiced by a white, then "y'all still racists". They haven’t really built up Anthony’s character at all. Like the falcons identity was literally just that he was caps friend and a soldier. So he feels like a very bland character and it feels like a cop out to have a black superhero by just changing the race instead of making a unique black superhero which falcon already was just not really a good one. Is Anthony’s character captain America or captain falcon I can’t remember cause the character is genuinely that boring. These sort of pass the torch characters come off as very preachy and have absolutely no motivation or driving force they’re just kinda there. Then again people need to stop boycotting cause of the actor and boycott cause it’s boring because that’s called having taste or an opinion instead of making an unintelligent argument that black actor = bad. Representation isn’t bad when it’s actually good representation. Don’t treat these characters like they’re special treat them like they’re normal cause that’s how it should be. Make them feel human with human goals instead of a black person who just takes the identity of an existing ip. I literally feel like I have to skip through Disney shows and skip to action cause they just throw in characters that are obviously meant to pander and make money without having any depth to their character. Not to mention the scattered plot conveniences in literally everything Disney related like mcguffins and characters popping out of nowhere and being able to fix the problem the writes literally just made. When I watch anything Disney related I feel like the show is screaming at me that I’m some unintelligent child that will except whatever’s thrown at me without any explanation as to why or how and it doesn’t have any sense of realism in terms of logic.

Let’s not forget rise of skywalker, the movie where the writer looked at reddit for ideas because the movie was so poorly planned out. It doesn’t really matter if it makes money, it’s a big action adventure movie of course it will make money. What matters is audience engagement. If your audience is literally split between liking the movie and absolutely hating it so much so that they want to have it removed or remade. That’s a problem. You’ll inevitably have less people watching them if a large portion of “fans” despise the new products. I’m excusing toxic Star Wars fans, I’m saying that a company not listening to out rage to the point where their fan base is divided is a huge issue. Why do you think we haven’t seen more star wars movies lately? The mentality of “screw the fans” is stupid because those fans are most engaged members of your audience, the ones who will go see the movie no matter what.

That is literally what Falcon to new Cap’s storyline is about. Racists not handling a black man taking over the role. How life imitates art.

I want to see Chris Evans as Steve Rogers & Hailey Atwell as Peggy Carter in a short MCU film when Steve goes back in time to stay with Peggy, but I feel like if they ever did that it'd be rushed. I'd also like to see Bucky's side of the story after he fell off the train in CAFA & was taken to Hyda to see off the stuff he dealt with , but at the same time I feel like they'd rush it tbh.

As a long time comic book fan I always laugh at people defending this. It should be a Falcon movie, Captain America is a single character but the slowly dying comic book industry in America tries to rebrand characters instead of just featuring new characters. Original is always best so the replacements will always inevitably disappoint

I wanna say that any sort of negativity towards black people here is completely beyond unwelcome and disgusting. There is great importance of Captain America now being Black and it’s beautiful to have more representation in the industry. Not only does Sam Wilson being Cap follow the comics, and the movies, but it also features the fact that Black people are heroes and deserve the same respect and admiration as the other characters. Just because some trolls on here think that their delusional opinions are correct, doesn’t mean that the general public feels the same. I, like many others, defend Anthony Mackie and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him in the MCU. May anyone sending racial discrimination towards him, get that same energy right back. Obviously we all love Steve Rogers but it’s time for a new Captain!

For me on this one I love Chris Evans as Captain America and always will. I know there is a comic where rogers passes on the shield and falcon becomes captain America but I was hoping they wouldn’t do that here no particular reason I just didn’t want to see anyone else playing that part. So now wen the movie comes out I will most likely watch it but just cuz I want to see the movie but not for the new cap

@@MC-BOT call it what you want, Steve Rogers and still Steve rogers, the title has changed hands. If handled well and the original holder of the title isn’t ruined, what difference does it make. Iron heart is an example of poor title transfer because Stark had to be torn down first and Ririe had to be made out to be better than him. Falcon to Captain America left Steve as the best and Falcon just trying to live up to his example and to be worthy of the symbol he inherited

Smh if fans think they can boycott anything cuz they don’t get what they want, they need to get some help and face reality.

Well it won't likely work, but after all that's pretty much what boycotts are for. I don't like this thing X, therefore I will boycott X in hope of getting Y.

Anthony Mackie doesn't need any defense, he's crushed every role he's been in. I don't see that changing in his Captain America role. I'm excited to see how they adapt from the comics.

‘Captain America’ has and always will be, a title. It isn’t an individual. Steve was just the first to take on the mantel, Sam is the next. Captain America isn’t just a shield, but the man behind it, and that person could be anybody, most of all Sam.

i don't think it's due to racism. people are used to Chris Evans being Captain America. Sam Wilson (Anthony) doesn't have the superpower that Steve Rogers has. He's just a normal human that relies on technology. He didn't get the serum. He might be strong, but not superhuman strong. When he was able to get the shield to get stuck in the tree (not in uniform) in the Disney+ show, I was like.. ".... whatever. not believable". I like Anthony's Falcon. I like him as an actor and his portrayal of Sam Wilson. But I think Bucky is more plausible in doing that cuz he has that strength.

How come whenever fans are against something they assume it’s about race

Luckily, and hopefully, a boycott like this won't have a huge impact on the film's success. Although I think narratively Bucky should have gotten the shield, I'm super glad Anthony Mackie gets to be the new Captain America and I will certainly go watch the movie when it comes out.

Bucky would be good in terms of power and skills but he is literally an ex Russian assassin, he would never fully be accepted by Americans. Also gotta remember people in the mcu don't know all the good Bucky has done and how he was reformed in Wakanda.

@@Guy-zl3sp True, but Bucky seemed aimless and was Cap's friend for much longer than Sam, so I think Steve could have given him the shield as a way for him to find himself and grow away from his assassin past. I think I would've bought it a bit more than him giving it to Sam. That being said, I'm still fine with Sam being Captain America and I think that works too, I just think narratively I would have preferred he gave it to Bucky. Edit: plus, if Steve chose for him to be Captain America, I think regardless of people knowing/not knowing about his redemption, I think they would have trusted he made the right choice and set aside their previous notions.

African Americans helped turned the tide of WW1, WW2, and even the Vietnam War. If anything it would be thanks to the Black Army and Air force Units in the US and even the CIA and Special Forced where they flourished and still loved their newfound freedom and country and her people so they made a plan to become several Units that we're absolutely legendary. Black Captain America Anthony Mackey would be awesome! Chris Evans was my first avenger I watched but Mackey would be great for the world ❤️❤️

It not the kind of racism you think about. I would never want Nick fury or T'challa to be casted as anyone else than Sam and Chad. (rip) The same way no one wants another wolverine other than Hugh Jackman. We're attached to the actors and they happen to be a certain color to begin with.

I wanted to see a falcon movie where he has his power from the comic book. They really stole his identity so fast.

I don't necessarily think anytime something happens to a black person it's automatically racism. I think it's more about frustration of roles and mantles in comics being shared and when they are shared it always with a minority rather than who fans think is more deserving I'm not an expert and don't really read marvel, just DC, but feel free to lmk if something is way off

This happened in the comics. Many people not named Steve rogers have taken up the mantle of captain America. Af least it’s a character they’ve been building for a decade and not just some random

What we wanted is winter soldier to be captain America. This got nothing to do with skin colour, people need to stop avoiding criticism and call it racism. 😤

@@painvillegaming4119 Wouldn't be so sure about that, Chris does several of his H2H combat stunt coordination. Additionally, all Mackie clearly does it weightlift judging that he most just has muscle mass on his arm, Evans does more than just that and seems more athletic as well. Well, I guess depends on what "fight" is defined here, obviously, the first definition would be a physical fight but categorically, it would depend. H2H tho? I think Chris has more of an advantage, dude actually pulled a Heli (of course it was on a harness and not actually active but still impressive despite the inertia).

@@painvillegaming4119 Chris Evans is clearly faster, I doubt Mackie would be the one getting most hits in. Mackie is too stocky, you can see that in his motions and the way he carries himself. I think he is more durable based on the exact fact that he is more stocky but aside from that, Chris Evans has more pros.

Calling the fans “racist” isn’t gonna help your case 😂. I love Anthony Mackey. He’s a great actor and hilarious. I also love The Falcon. Great super hero and love his story. I feel the only reason tho he got the captain America role is because he is black. Marvel was scared that if they gave it to its rightful owner, Bucky, they would’ve called marvel racist or sun like that. IMO, Bucky has been with Steve way longer and is a way better fit for Captain America.

He made the only logical choice. Besides , it's never too late for Chris to return as long as he can't age faster than his current Steve Rodgers character.

We are not seeing Cap and Tony Stark until the Avengers movies

I think they shouldn’t make another Captain America movie since it would be confusing to new people watching the marvels since there is multiple movies and tv shows in between that are important to the characters that would appear in said movie and that if they do really want to give him his own movie then title it something else or they could just make more season for the falcon and the winter soldier. Marvel is already getting to complex with the amount of shit you need to see to keep up and titling a movie of a different character Captain America would just be adding another layer of confusion to it which it really doesn’t need now especially after MoM.

This is the perfect way to do this. It would be race swapping if they just said he was black all along but him picking up the mantle in this fashion having been a character for years makes him a perfect candidate for the shield. I would love to see him as Cap would be a great way to progress the character the idea of Captain America along without just pulling a Disney and saying this character is black without any explanation

You know what I find the irony in this video; that people in the Marvel comics and “fans” have one thing in common. They don’t want a black man to become Captain America.

It's not about racism people just don't wanna see characters get recycled like that. There would be an equal outrage if there was an Ironman 4 with Tom Holland becoming the new Ironman. Why? Because Holland is Spiderman and Spiderman is a different character,he don't need to be a watered down Ironman. Similar with Anthony Mackey,he is Falcon and that's alright i don't see why he needs to be Walmart captain America

The only Captain America movies I rocked with were Winter Soldier and Civil War and that was mainly due to the story lines and the inclusion of the winter soldier. I like Anthony and think he’ll do a good enough job I’m just not a big Captain America fan no matter who plays the character.

To anyone who doesn’t understand, here’s a simple explanation. Chris Evans wouldn’t do a fourth movie no matter how much you beg you complete and utter losers.

Just deal with it and stop getting mad that he won’t be Cap. The character isn’t just one main character, it’s title that gets passed down to other characters much like Spider-Man or Batman. It doesn’t matter who’s behind the mask as long as they best represent what the character should be. You only get mad when the same person isn’t that character because you don’t want fresh change to a role because you rather everything stay the same. But often the the characters that replace the person in the pervious title become some of the most beloved. Miles was a much beloved character thanks to Into the Spider-Verse. Terry McGuinness was a fan favorite for many with a lot of people saying he lives up to the title of Batman. Many held the title of Thor. There are many who held the title of Iron Man. The original actor for war machine was switched and it worked really well. The flash (Barry Allen) isn’t even the original flash. Plus Wally West came after Barry and that was also a good choice. I’m just saying, the fact is that Chris Evans is not coming back and we have to deal with it. Often the best things in either films or comics is when someone is replaced for something better or at the very least is equal to the original.

They even basically mention in Falcon and the Winter Soldier that some Americans can’t handle a black Captain America.

Tbf recasting the big avengers team that everyone grew up loving in theaters is gonna be a huge risk either way. Even if the new avengers has spiderman in it, there'll be comparisons between the old and new Captain America or Iron man (heart). Let's hope they don't try to make them exactly like the originals and make them as different as possible so that they'll stand on their own more

I prefer Sam as Falcon, but will still see this. I'm really gonna miss Steve Roger's though. He was one of my favorite mcu characters.

Racism might be a factor for the boycott but Chris Evans is better as an actor to play captain America and Anthony Mackey is not as good as him.

It's not about their race it's that Anthony Mackie is no Captain America. Chris Evans has a certain nobility and subtlety that Mackie doesn't bring to that character. He's better as Falcon

Yeah people not wanting Anthony as captain America is racist. Just as almost as racist as giving a black man a white man’s title instead of his own original name. There are already very few original black hero’s in the MCU and they lost another in hopes to make money off a white hero’s name.

My problem is it should have been bucky Sam has his own hero identity as Falcon and is well established as such Yet bucky is still the Winter Soldier The disney+ show made a big deal about names and identity to the point in the end they change the title from falcon to captain america, yet bucky is still called the Winter Soldier Hes still constantly referred to as the hydra assassin rather than a hero I personally think bucky should have become the new captain america due to lacking that new hero identity when falcon already had a well established one.

I live Anthony and I would love to see him again but for me he is not Captain Amercia, but Captain Falcon.
