Chris Dixon | Building the Next Era of the Internet

Join us for a visionary discussion with tech leader Chris Dixon on the future of the internet. In his book, 'Read Write Own,' Dixon argues that the internet can still fulfill its early promise of decentralization and innovation, but it requires a shift towards blockchain networks. Dixon, drawing from his extensive software industry experience, explains how the internet has evolved through three eras and why we are now in the 'read-write-own' era, characterized by blockchain networks empowering users and communities.
Dixon's insights are crucial for anyone interested in the future of the internet, from internet users to business leaders and entrepreneurs. As the founder of a16z crypto, a leading firm investing in crypto and web3 technologies, Dixon offers a compelling playbook for building a better internet that benefits everyone, not just a few corporations.
Don't miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the internet's evolution and discover how blockchain networks can shape a more democratic, innovative, and connected future.

Your idea of micro-payments is the best way to control what you're starting. Don't allow big corporations to take the control from you. ❤

I disagree with Chris on one crucial point: he overlooks the fact that Proof of Stake (POS) can be easily centralized and corrupted, unlike Proof of Work (POW). Therefore, which system would be safe to entrust your generational wealth to?

Agreed, but there are a few different metrics used to measure the degree of decentralization, the most well-known being the Nakamoto Coefficient. Our prediction is that as governments begin to allow crypto to be part of the traditional monetary/financial system they will be required to demonstrate a minimum threshold for decentralization. That should be an interesting nut to crack, what with wallet addresses being pseudonymous. We'll need a system where whales cannot just divide major holdings among multiple wallets. And remember, mining consortiums can collude too.

@@Iron-Weave Yes bitcoin miners can colude but history taught us that the majority of nodes decide in the end.
