Chris Cornell Memorial - May 18, 2017 - Seattle, WA
On May 18th 2017, at the KEXP radio station in Seattle, people gathered to mourn and celebrate the life of beloved musician and Seattle native Chris Cornell. I brought my camera and filmed the experience.

RIP Chris Cornell.. 😢😢 we Love u..
I've only been to Seattle once, I went on my own little rock and roll tour. I visited Discovery Park where they filmed the temple of the dog video. Soundgarden sculpture too! I didn't know that would be the last time I went while he was alive. I told him about it too. I'm glad I met him, he was a kind soul, and changed so many peoples lives
we always love you Chris. thanks for everything.
Im 38.... When i was in my 20's i had many problems from heroin addiction to family problems and i truly think that if i didnt have Chris's music thru those dark times i dont think that i wouldnt have survived it.... The world just got a whole lot smaller !
Love you Chris!!!! FOREVER!!! Thanks for making my life so Much better!
This is such an awesome video! Dammit! This is why I fell in love with Seattle when I was a teen in the 90s because, it is such a cool place with really cool people and awesome fucking music! So much talent came from Seattle. I have loved Soundgarden since I was 14 years old and now I'm in my mid 30s.. I will deeply miss Chris Cornell and his captivating voice that got me through some tough times. Blasting Soundgarden and Temple of the dog in my room driving my parents and sister nuts and singing to the top of my lungs will always bring me joy. Chris, thank you for sharing your talent, handsome good looks, and memorable voice and lyrics. You will always hold a soft place in my heart along with Kurt, Layne, and Weiland... THANK YOU!
Chris, you're one of my favorite vocals & musicians of all time, and your songs have helped me through tough times whether Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the dog or your solo works. RIP. You will be missed brother.
I will always love you. Today, at work, I was among people who even did not know his name. I could not share my feelings with anyone. I was so isolated. I feel like this more and more often with my music. At least, I can share my feelings with all of you here...RIP

Ewa Filipowicz I felt the same way. It was actually a coworker who had told me he died, but he wasn't a fan or anything. I needed to express how I felt to people who would better understand. Makes me miss Seattle.

Ewa Filipowicz I know it, my family can't explain itself why I have been crying and listening music feeling so sad. They don't know how much this means to me. I feel relief to know that there are some people that feels the pain in the heart so hard like me.

Ewa Filipowicz I understand. Today at work "Like Suicide" came on and I just burst out crying. Luckily no clients were there to see it, but I have to remove that from the playlist or that is going to happen every time. I just... I still can't believe it, that such a terrible thing could be true, that he would leave us this way, leave his children, his wife... How much he must have been suffering... How alone and hopeless he must have felt... It just makes me weep to know that's how his final moments were. He was such a beautiful tortured soul. It's not easy, being famous and being a deeply sensitive human being. I had the incredible good fortune to be invited onto their tour bus once, and I watched him outside with the fans. He tried so hard to spend time signing autographs and meeting fans but he had a panic attack and his security guy had to carry him out of the crowd and back on the bus. You could tell it wasn't what he wanted, to run away, but he just couldn't stay out there. And even after all that, he was willing to autograph my skateboard when Ben Shepherd took it back there to him in the private part of the bus. I was sad I didn't get to meet him myself, but after witnessing his challenges, I would never have intruded on his personal space in a million years. And my skateboard signed by all 4 members of Soundgarden hangs on the wall right next to my bedroom door and has for the 25 years since Chris signed it. The world is a better place for having had you in it, but it hurts like hell to be in it without you now, Chris. Rest in peace.
Andrew Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, and now Chris Cornell. How come all the great musicians die so young? RIP Chris your talent and your amazing voice will be forever missed.
Thanks for filming this! Wonderful job.

This made me tear up again. Very sweet heart felt.
I just can't believe! My god what a loss!
How many memories in my mind ?? I made part of my adolescence and my life forever! Thanks Chris Cornell!
I wish it wouldve been enough for him to know that so many people love him deeply, that anything he asked from us we'd do it to support him, he had the fans right there for him, his family, I wish we could've washed away any form of loneliness and or sadness he felt, and whatever he was going through. I hope he rests in peace and finds some type of heavenly place to rest now. And that he takes care of his friends and family from wherever he is. ♡ say hello to heaven Chris.
Great job! RIP Chris. Thank you for such a beautiful garden of sound.
Thank you so much I wish I could have been there.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Such a heartbreaking loss. It's awesome to see so many people come together like this. It shows the love that you all had for him and that's beautiful beyond words.
Millions of us. One man touched us in a way no other ever did. I’m 66 and this has never happened to me with any other person. That is unreal in the Superunkown.
so amazing seeing all the fans unite. still so sad he left this earth so soon
I feel for all of Chris's fans . I miss Chester he was my favorite singer I only known about Chris for 5 or so years he was awesome too . Hope they found peace where they are now
RIP Chris ..1964-2017
This was very respectful and touching. I am in the stage if ANGER now, and legitimately so, because there are too many people in this world that are victims of prescription drugs. I hope his wife and family get some closure with the medical reports.
We love you, Chris. rest in peace!
Chris is ours with us Generation X forever R.I.P

Yeah man, even when I opened a news website and search for Chris Cornell since his passing, news about a pop singer (I won't mention the name) that pop up first above all the news about Chris. I mean, wtf. And I just ignored 'em because my sorrow about Chris, Rest In Peace Chris....

Good point..but as a fan of Soundgarden for 25 years, they were not band for the masses. Kim Thayil even said Soundgarden was not in the business off 4/4 time dance songs. They had two kinds of fans...those who liked Black Hole Sun, and those who were obsessed and had to have every recording, B-side. bootleg, single, etc.

yep, cuz was a grunge band, but we can't forgive the disregard in the rest of his carrer like the solo or audioslave.
descansa en paz Chris
Rest In Peace
que triste tu partida 😢😢😢😢
I feel his bandmates in soundgarden are close to him yet they seem so far. Where were they when he was alone in the hotel room. Don't you think right after a gig you can enjoy chilling out and maybe reminisce what happened an hour ago in that concert with your bandmates. RIP Chris.
He and Kurt are now the elvis's of grunge Rip Chris we fkng miss you 🌹

While I know that Chris Cornell has been laid to rest in Hollywood, I am visiting Seattle next week and would like to know if there are any memorials in the city that I can visit to pay respect. Any help is most appreciated. Peace ❤️
So sad... But sadder is all the people who take advantage and sell things at that time... so greedy they dont give a fuck about anything
my god seatle musicians going cris why he 2
WHY !?!?
I have spent the last two days reading as much as possible on Chris and his family, and now honestly believe that Ativan killed him! I believe his wife when she claims Chris didn't know what he was doing due to this drug!... Still can't believe you're gone Chris Cornell.

AggieRTapia •••Like yourself, I have also devoured any and everything I can searching for some clue or hint to what was going on. I also have a prescription for Ativan and take maybe a half of one every other day. I think we will find out that he took more than one or two unfortunately, which can make you do things you'd never do, if it doesn't slow you're breathing and stop your heart first. I just can't believe it.

I imagine this is extremely hard for all of them, especially Kim. I can't begin to think what they must be feeling even a week later. But it doesn't surprise me at all that they haven't made any announcements regarding the future of the band or any real comments about Chris.

I was there. This was an impromptu memorial by KEXP held the same day the news broke, Thursday. There's no way the band could have made it from Detroit where they were no doubt reeling from the news themselves, perhaps even meeting with the authorities who likely were talking to them about what happened the night before. I do hope there is another more planned memorial in Seattle for Chris, where the whole city can participate.
bubble wrap Eddie Vedder
why why why... no way... WTF... R.I.P Chris Cornell ... shit WTF ... grunge is dead...💀🔫
