Dude in the blue hat shook his head the whole time Mr. Coleman was playing and when he was finished he just dropped is head. Guy in the blue hat you along with the rest of us mere mortals understand your amazement, disbelief and the urge to burn anything that can be drummed on after this spectacle.

This guy is so fun to watch. You can see the real happiness he gets out of playing, learning, and teaching.

if I could only watching one drummer it would probably be Chris Coleman. My favorite drummer right now.

I really love seeing the joy Chris gets out of playing! Also, his visual sticking technique is probably my favorite I've seen so far except for Thomas Lang. Nothing better than a drummer whose playing looks as smooth as it sounds!

Well, this guitar player loves this video. I love Chris's analysis of the breakdown he outlines, and I appreciate his unbelievable technique. Good musicians appreciate all instruments. Bad ones paint all others with the same brush. Allan Holdsworth is a guitarist. I challenge anyone to understand his use of rhythm and harmony.

Make that 17. I have been playing drums since 1970, and if this was all the better I could do - I would quit. And if you think this guy is anything better than mediocre at best, then maybe you should quit, and take up playing the guitar.

I'd be smiling all the time as well if I could play like that.

He ain't no human being! Somewhere in his head is a machine for him to be able to coordinate things that are practically impossible to play! Chris Coleman is the best drummer of his Generation and still is right now!

I couldn't even carry this guy's bags. Chris Coleman is such a fantastic drummer. He projects his personality into his playing like no other drummer I know. Mangini is a mathematician, Coleman is an artist.

I love Thomas, I love Tony, but Chris is someone I'd have in my band...and have as a drum teacher.

i was there...and this along with all the rest of his solos were INSANE!

it seems like you would mean to say, "apply technicality to odd time signatures" because IMO technicality is not necessarily always musical.

He is great bass player is well

monster on the kit, but what this style needs is more pocket groove. he is so good technically, and his transition from an open stroke roll into a unsion floor/tom snare fill is flawless... but when he hits the sweet spot in a groove and takes his hands out of the pocket and goes right back into technical riffage. stay in the pocket chris! its unbelievable when you do!
