I truly believe that Chris Coleman is the man who has filled the shoes of Buddy Rich (God rest Mr. Rich's soul". No disrespect intended for Buddy, for he is one of my drum mentors, along with Mr. Carl Palmer. I have been watching Chris for a number of years here on KZread, and out of all drummers out there that I have seen here on YT, Chris tops them all. He proves that drummers don't need double bass. He does with his right foot what some drummers can only do with double bass. And as you can see, Chris uses the high hats in a way that I have never seen anyone else play them with the pedal. Quick polyrhythm reference for folks: Whatever ratio you're talking about (4:3, 3:4, 5:3, 3:5, etc)... think about.... 1) The first number is the "rate". 4:3, the rate would be 4, so 16th notes. 2) Second number is the "grouping".. in 4:3, the grouping is 3. You accent every 3rd note. 3) You play the grouping the number of times indicated by the first number. 4) The number of beats it takes to complete the rhythm is the second number. In 4:3, that's playing the grouping 4 times. In 3 beats. This works for ALL polyrhythms. In 5:3, the RATE is 5. You play 3 beats at the rate of 5. You accent every third note. You play that grouping 5 times and it takes 3 beats to complete. Write it out. That's the math behind the drums.

Accent every third note? Don't know what You mean. When I play 4:3, just the first note is on top of each other. Its not like playing 4 x 16th over 3 x 16th. It's playing Triplets over staight 16th. And I can put the accent on each notes on the 16ths and on each of the triplets so can u Explain that point?

For the question at 1:23:44 ... I had a gig once that was 7 nights a week for 7 months. One night I randomly tried to do some pull-ups and found that I could comfortably do 5. So I decided to do 5 a day, and add 1 each week. I got up to 17 !!! BUT what I found was, some days I could literally bang out all of them with very little effort, and other days it was a struggle even after the second, although I could still do all of them. So to his question, if discovered that the body isn’t a machine, it ebbs and flows. IF he could have a different “measure” and see at what speed his relaxation changed ...from my particular experience that would be a better/ more realistic indicator Hope that made sense 🎶
@JR-hs4ir8 жыл бұрын
Every time I hear him play I'm quickly reminded why I think he's the greatest alive right now. Technically, creatively, and rhythmically just out of this world. How is it that the crowd is just sitting there seemingly aloof, by the way? I wouldn't be able to stop dancing and bobbing.

Accent every third note? Don't know what You mean. When I play 4:3, just the first note is on top of each other. Its not like playing 4 x 16th over 3 x 16th. It's playing Triplets over staight 16th. And I can put the accent on each notes on the 16ths and on each of the triplets so can u Explain that point?
one of the greatest!
U GOT TO LOVE THIS GUY GREAT PERSON GREAT DRUMMER
Every time I hear him play I'm quickly reminded why I think he's the greatest alive right now. Technically, creatively, and rhythmically just out of this world. How is it that the crowd is just sitting there seemingly aloof, by the way? I wouldn't be able to stop dancing and bobbing.
