💬 LESSON DESCRIPTION:
When I was in college studying jazz, I really wanted to be able to improvise over jazz tunes and jam with my peers.
I often received advice like, "just keep playing your scales and arpeggios."
I was practicing my scales and arpeggios, but my improvisation didn’t sound expressive.
Over the years, I identified the missing link.
In this video, I guide you through a series of exercises on chord tone soloing.
The exercises are designed to help you bridge the gap between playing mechanically and finding your voice as an improvising musician.
I hope you enjoy this lesson about chord tone soloing and find it beneficial.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
Thanks! :)

This is great, Jared. I'v been studying jazz for about 3 years and have a handle on this stuff but I'm at the point where I'm trying to make my practice routine as efficient as possible and definitely failing to do so. I saw your video about getting distracted by so many stylistic things and totally related, so I meandered through your channel. You're practice suggestion are awesome. Thanks!

I’m enjoying your content and getting a lot out of it. The approach of memorizing the arpeggios in positions is gold!

I'm loving the direction these videos are going in - the more Jazz Soloing, the better! I wonder if you would consider doing a similar vide/guide on 'Jazz Lines over every chord / Progression'. I'd love to see a video where you give maybe 2 or 3 examples of a standard/typical Jazz line that you could play over each chord type - like ... "Lines over the I Maj7 or the IV Major 7 or the Dom II chord' ? and then linking them together to form common progressions - Maj and Minor ii-V-I and Rhythm Changes ?
