i am loving that you are building something that's stepping a little more outside of the box a bit more with an s10. it gets boring seeing the same build over and over again. keep up the good work!

I'd ditch the air locker for elocker. Been running in my front axle for a few years now. No leaks to worry about and no hoses that can rub and puncture. So simple
I'm gonna build my 86 as an overlander. It's an 86 gmc s15 single cab short bed. Gonna buy a non running extended cab zr2 s10 like 01 or newer so it has all around disc brakes. Drop my 86 cab and front end on frame and build my own camper on the frame. Want to use aluminum and not go crazy big or heavy and keep it simple. It will have a tbi 350 in it. I built the truck years ago with my best friend. We were always talking about building our trucks to go to Alaska. Had my first kid then that 350 took a dump parked the truck. Then my friend passed and I want to build it as kind of like a memorial.
It’s so refreshing to see a KZreadr answering the comments and not only that, conversing back and forth. Loving the series, keep up the good work. 👍🏽😎

S10s gonna be awesome on some 39s and setup low!
I would love to see a very detailed LS swap in a Jeep Tj! Looking into LS swapping mine!
I have a Detroit Locker in my 61 F100 4x4 and my 98 TJ with a Ford 8.8, in the truck you hardly know it's there but the short wheelbase in the TJ you have to be careful on wet and snowy roads. Off road they are both amazing. With the wheelbase on your S10 the mechanical loocker should work great.
I just stumbled onto your channel. I love what you’re doing here. Boom, subscribed. I look forward to what you come up with.

Keep up the good work! Your channel really speaks to the majority of us. You're a garage mechanic (all be it a highly qualified one 🤣) building cool stuff in your free time with limited budget. Makes dope 4x4's seem extremely attainable.

I have no garage but I wish I did. I work in parking lots and in the summer I work up on off-road trails in Colorado. Very peaceful working in dispersed campsites.
Thanks

The Grizzly worked great in my Toyota Pickup with 37s but I did find it wouldn't "unlock" sometimes. Did the typical BANG while turning thing that lunchbox lockers do, even though it's a full carrier replacement. I think I'll go air next time.

@@MuddyBeards4X4 I never _really_ had an issue with it. I drove the Toyota on the street to trails and it was never once a hassle. The only time it was annoying, as you stated, was when backing up on a trail. Definitely got some wheel hop while trying to turn in reverse and it would not unlock sometimes. Overall, $500 WELL SPENT
Nice man. I have been dreaming about building a 95 Nissan ex-cab (v6) into a rig like this...might have to try to catch that dream and build a truck next. I can not wait to see the progress and maybe see it on the trails next summer. Take care and see ya on the next one.

🤣, the plan is to be done in February, so maybe catch the end of the snow.
I’m finishing my sas on my 2000 4runner. The front axle at full compression is tight. I did some frame notching and my panhard bar (track bar for you jeep guys) is bent into an S to clear the oil pan and differential. I interested to see how the s10 front goes.
Nice work, your making some good progress already!! Well done Sir!!

My only suggestion is different brand of jack stands. You might not live to see the project done when the welds break on the Harbor Freight ones.
@MuddyBeards4X4

Nope, these new jack stands are the safest on the market right now, they Comply with ASME/PASE 2019 standards which means I trust them completely 👍🏻
I love my eaton’s. You couldn’t give air lockers
Do you know of any lockers for 1999 s10 zr2 truck
Electric lockers are so much better than air lockers
Are you stretching the whell base on the TJ?
I would like info on building a CJ 7 to run 37’s the most economically I really like spring under but am open for suggestions

Is the grizzly the same as a detroit? I have a detroit in a 79 bronco.... last year i drove it down the street and went to pull a u turn....and the lug nuts sheered of...tire ate the rear fender....turned into a big mess....i assume the locker didnt break free so the inside tire couldnt slow down and caused the break....any thoughts? Thx...tomk fdny ✌

Yea, same as a Detroit soft locker. That sucks, but failures do happen. I had a Detroit soft locker in my 8.8 for a few years and never had an issue.
Are you going to box in the frame. To help with the frame flex.

Not sure yet, I really depends on how this truck turns out. And how capable it is. Most likely a ground up build for the Tj.
