    Joe, as a point of reference, to do your plug for SolarSurge University before getting involved with a good presentation, and then to be stopped by a YT ad was annoying! Keep up the good content! 👍

    Agreed. I have a question, do you think it would make sense to put fans under the panel to cool them. I measure the panel temperature when the outside temperature was 100 degrees and the panels were 170c degeees. You would think blowing air under the panel would coll them to hopefully the outside temperature.

    Heres the problem Enphase will give us sales people with this constant "upgrade." For that super analytical client that always does there "homework," "research," now the objection of" I am going to wait until the technology improves. Of course we can overcome it with the old Iphone Galaxy analogy..."Did you stop using a cellphone waiting for the next phone model to come?" But still... If it ain't broke why fix it right away? The Iq 8 is still so new, I don't even try to push it onto customers, Iq 7 is / was a great product and it doesn't add an adder fee to my redline. Thanks Joe for a great channel, love to see your success is taking off.

    IQ7 does not support micro-grid. When the utility grid is down to your home, you have to shut the solar panels off. With the IQ8s, you can still generate electricity from the sun during the day while off the utility grid. But the Iq7s are going to be less expensive.

    Enphase will do well to get into the virtual power plan business with each state, like Tesla. Enphase customers would only have to opt in to cash in. Is there any news on this front?

    Hi, does the MMP range matter? F.i. I own 108 halfcell 430W panels that can easily produce up to 14A of current, so I'm considering IQ8MC (330W max), IQ8AC (360W max) or IQ8HC (380W max). But I notice the min MMP of those micro inverters is respectively 25V, 28V and 29.5V. The min VMP of my panels is around 26.6V so if I'm not mistaken, the MC would be the best match as the Min MMP of 25V is I would like to get the AC of HC version to avoid clipping, but would that mean I will loose power on cloudy days? If so, I think the MC is the best choice. Any professional installers here who have tried all 3 models and notice a difference in the Enlighten MANAGER app concerning the time and power level those models start up? Help is very much appreciated. Thx

    My only fear on these Enphase micro inverters is the supply chain. How many of them are available in the market. If I have a failure am I going to be able to get a replacement. If I have a string inverter I'm fairly certain I can get that replaced in short order.

    Hey Enphase. I know this channel is for an American audience, but up here in Canada (Ontario), Im having a hell of a time finding an installer that when I get my quote and it comes with SE, their first response to me is always, "yeah Enphase is also great", then launch into a very long set of .....BUUUTs. Which makes me even less optimistic of finding an installer willing to install a full Enphase solution with batteries. What gives? Why am I being constantly proselytized by installers about SE and NONE of them are willing to entertain Enphase (indeed, walk away from my business because I express interest in Enphase)?

    Same dilemma here in Finland as Enphase only sells in big European countries such as Germany, France, Spain and so on. I guess it’s just that Enphase has the best tech but their global scalability takes time.

    They're a bit of a challenge to use for standard consumer. Several of the most powerful are tools like helioscope, or Aurora Solar Design. These are powerful solar design tools and model software that use tons of data to model the performance of your system. When going solar you should ask for a copy of this report so you can have it documented. You want to ensure the solar company is remaining honest in their energy production estimates and additionally in their savings forecast. Making sure you understand the terms of your net metering program with your utility is extremely important as well.

    I've seen one company with the Aurora Design Tool, now to track down and see who and have them plug in my data from older solar system, to get better performance from newer system. How does one ensure the system size is adequate to produce not only in the summer/winter, but in both times producing enough solar to fill (2) IQ10T batteries? I still need to confirm about 3yrs of seasonal data and look at what I produced to what I'm currently using to determine I have the right size system being built, or go slightly larger for potential EV charger for an EV for the future...

    What if I want an Off Grid MicroInverter, so No Grid. Just panels, micro inverters, charge controller, batteries. But what if my batteries are too low (?) I want my panels to supply my loads without going through the batteries. How do I do that?

    I don't understand why a smaller size (IQ9) is a plus. If the IQ8 were double the size it is now I wouldn't care. They are bolted to the rack under the panel after all. I'd like to see two high power panels feeding into a single micro inverter. Less cost and less points of failure.

  • @brawlman

    @brawlman

    6 ай бұрын

    This would sound logical, but with higher power panels, as mentioned, I would think you'd be hard pressed to find one to support, and though it might be fine at first might be prone to failure sooner than later as it tries to maintain its levels... I like the mentioning of simulator with data based on different factors having to do with which way the panels face and better determine the right cost effective Microinverter "MI" Likewise for heat Co-efficiency and how this can affect the "MI"

    Unless you wire the Enphase controller in front of the panel directly to the Utility power lines. Then it is the Enphase controller that is the single point of failure.

    Yes, and there are gazillions of them installed on our planet, but they are easy to source and replace, much easier than replacing a microinverter mounted under a panel on your roof. So I don't see that its a significant issue.

  • @dustinmerkley7303

    @dustinmerkley7303

    @ralphcrawford9741 Yeah that's was my point. Micro Inverter systems have single points of Failure just like every other PV system. I have been a Solar Contractor for almost 2 decades. I sell mostly MLPE in the California becuase that's the market FAD under NEM 1.0 & 2.0. Now under NEM 3.0 with added cost of batteries people are going back to Traditional Inverter without additional MLPE. I Personally have SMA Inverters on booth of my home. I have had the least problem with SMA & Fronius then any other company on the residential market The hype of Modular level optimization or AC Production at the panel are good in certain situations but the majority of homes would be better off with a Traditional Inverter that is less expensive & has less components that have high Failure rates.
