I loved this. Thank you. My grandfather never learned Choctaw from his grandmother, so for my family the language is lost. It was beautiful to hear it this way.

Thank you so much for posting. It's gorgeous to hear the language of my ancestors. Nobody in my family knows it anymore.

This makes me sad. My great-great-grandparents on both my mom's side and my dad's side were Choctaw and I don't have the photo of my great-great- grandfather but I remember seeing it growing up as a kid and I just thought he was a light-skinned black man and on my dad's side I do have the photo of that grandparent and I have the photo of my great-great-great-grandparents on my mom's side and their full traditional guard. But I was also told Choctaw were one of the five nations that pretty much sold out their people to the colonizers to pretty much westernize themselves and that kind of broke my heart. They were marked as one of the civilized tribes. But that would explain why the Choctaw man who assaulted and the black woman, which is where my bloodline from my mom's side comes from why the tribe forced him to marry her cuz not only did they found out what he did but they were also kind of happy unhappy that he did it with a black woman. So there's that, but at least on my dad's side like that story is not as grim. Apparently he actually did love the woman. He married her on purpose

I don't care what anybody says, but Famie was overall my favorite singing the national anthem everytime simply because she wasn't trying to mimic Beyoncés style of singing.
